Dr. Alexandra Choi was born and raised inthe Bay Area and loves the richly diverse community, culinary offerings, and climate it has to offer. Her initial career interests lay in engineering before she became captivated by the healing power and aesthetic potential of dentistry. Dr. Al spent three years in Stockton, CA and earned her Bachelor of Science in biology at the University of the Pacific before moving to San Francisco to complete her dental education at the University of the Pacific School of Dentistry.

Dr. Kamille Mercado is a talented, accomplished and highly-skilled professional and we are excited to have her join our ranks as the premier dental providers in the area. She not only earned top honors and graduated the top of her class, but was an award-winning published researcher before she picked up her well-earned diploma.
She graduated Magna Cum Laude at University of Pacific Stockton with a BS in Biology, where she was also a member of the Honor Society of Phi Kappa Phi. She earned her DDS degree from the University of the Pacific, Arthur A. Dugoni School of Dentistry and was inducted into the Tau Kappa Omega Honorary Society. Her dental pulp stem cells research was published in the Journal of the California Dental Association (JCDA) and was awarded by the American Association of Dental Research. Upon graduating she extended her training to include a yearlong Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency program run by NYU Langone in San Jose.
Her passion for dentistry started when she interned with her dentist in high school and it only grew deeper the more she learned about the level of artistry and skill it demanded, and the difference it can make in someones life. When I can help get patients out of dental pain, educate them about their oral health, and improve the esthetic appearance of their smile, it is very fulfilling. It 's not just about 'fixing their teeth,' it 's about helping to improve their quality of life, said Dr. Kamille Mercado.
Looking for a practice who could match her dedication and push her expertise, Dr. Mercado joined South San Francisco Dental Care in 2020. From her initial stints filling in for some of our providers, she was impressed by the level of teamwork and camaraderie she observed. She was also excited by the ability to collaborate with our in-house specialists to give her patients the best comprehensive care possible. She is now in our practice full-time and is joined by a team of dedicated dental providers who are as equally committed to their craft and to delivering unparalleled customer service.
Raised by immigrant parents in Daly City, she has lived most of her life in SF Bay. She looks forward to developing her career here and serving her hometown community. She could think of no better place to live with its diversity of food, people, culture and landscape. Her skills and passion doesnt stop at dentistry. She plays piano and guitar, speaks Filipino and Spanish, and is learning Japanese and Korean through her favorite dramas.
Dr. Kelvin C. Choi started his South San Francisco dental practice more than 25 years ago, after graduating from the School of Dentistry at the University of the Pacific in 1977. He has also taught in the fixed prosthodontics department at UOP from 1977 to 1980. He holds dental licenses in both California (since 1977) and in Hong Kong (since 1979). Dr. Chois high standards produce quality dentistry that has helped numerous patients achieve their life-changing dream smile.
Dr. Choi is the father of four children. The eldest is working in Hong Kong and the other three chose to go into dentistry, including Dr. Alexandra Choi, and Dr. Philip Choi, who have joined the practice. Dr. Choi is an active member in his Christian church and enjoys going to the gym, cycling, and spending time with his family.
'Dr. Kelvin Choi was my dentist when I lived in the Bay Area 10 years ago until I moved back east. He and his staff left me with such a wonderful impression that I went back upon my return to the Bay Area a decade later! I am glad I did. They 've only gotten better!'

SSF dental is great. Best dental experience I ever had. From the front office to the cleaning to the examination to the finish. Sarah was my hygienist and Dr. Camille was my Dentist. They were very thorough with answering and explaining all my questions and procedures. Technological advance was also superb . I have already recommended my family to go to them!

If you want a pain free dental experience, look no further than Dr. Phil Choi and Dr. Al Choi. They are both incredibly caring and talented dentists. They have done many fillings & crowns on me... without pain. They first use a numbing gel & then give the injection... painless!!!! They use hi-tech equipment & the office is very clean. The whole office staff is wonderful too.

+2 stars for the dentists and front office staff: everyone was nice and seemed very caring. -3 stars for the dental hygienist that cleaned my teeth: Stephanie was my hygienist in the past (she was awesome) but I saw someone brand new (looked like straight from school). Arielle was unfprofessional and did not know how to be careful for my 2 implants. She was not gentle and was kind of stand off-ish with overconfidence. Bad experience there. Again everyone else there was nice and soft (even X-Ray technician in the past which are supposed to be somewhat uncomfortable), this review is for the hygienist only: can not recommend this person to friends and family

Hygienist is very professional and careful. Techniques used in teeth cleaning is superb without much discomfort. Dental exam by dentist is very thorough and informing of findings on every tooth, very transparent!!

Each time I come to the South San Francisco Dental Care at Kelvin Choi's office, I find myself at peace knowing that the office and the equipment is clean and free of germs. I appreciate that they take special care in keeping the facilities and equipment to keep their staff and the patients safe from Covid 19. My Hygenist is efficient and thoughtful in doing my cleaning and she does an excellent job. (Lailani). Also, the office staff, (Della) and many others are efficient and business like and thoughtful towards the patients. My experience with them each time has been a good one. They make sure you know what they are going to do, and let you know exactly how much you owe. Thank Kelvin Choi and Staff!

Very courteous office staff. Excellent dental professionals. I had concern about tooth sensitivity and got an appointment the next day. The dentist examined me and consulted with another dentist because my test results were not consistent with a problem. Rather than rushing into treatment, we're on "observe" for a while to see if the symptoms persist or progress. I appreciate this conservative approach. I definitely recommend South SF Dental Care. Update Addendum 11/16/2020: SSF Dental Care always provides professional care and currently with an in-depth Covid-19 prevention program. Great "bedside manner", too. I've been going to them for years.

i had my teeth cleaned during the pandemic. Dr. Choi's office is so clean and staff so friendly and careful, im at ease. They take all the precautionary steps and the office is very well equipped. During the check up, they found my molars in back with cracks and cavities. Dr. Phil carefully guided me through the process of how to approach fixing it. Within a week, i got the appointment to have all 4 molars fixed. Thanks Dr. Phil and all SSF Dental Care staff!

These dentists and staff were horrible. They totally messed up my teeth and messed up putting back a crown, making my smile uneven. I went to go look at it after they had completed their work and was so upset, when I went back to go talk to the dentist, they made me wait 20 min, only to tell me I needed to wait another 30 min - hour before I could talk to anyone. I left in tears and found another dentist that told me that the person that put on the crown did it completely wrong and messed up my gum line as well. I will have to spend thousands of dollars more ordering new crowns. DO NOT COME HERE! Go somewhere else with professionals!

This review is for Dr. Alexandra Choi and her assistant. Just wanted to say Thank you and that your services were greatly appreciated. I started having a toothache at work and I need to see a dentist fast. I was able to get in the same day and was able to get my problem resolved. They even checked in to make sure I was okay the next day due to it being a weekend. I will visit them again for more work to be done. Thank you Dr and the entire staff that made my visit a very pleasant one.
