Our practice is devoted to providing an exceptional dental experience to each of our patients. Our modern office has stunning ocean views in each of our updated treatment rooms. We have various amenities available to patients, including blankets and stereo headphones.
Dr. Kelly A. Shimada first moved to Los Angeles from Connecticut for Occidental College to earn her B.A. in music, with emphasis on vocal performance.While studying music at Oxy, she was completing her pre-dental requirements as well. Dr. Shimada received her D.D.S. from the UCLA School of Dentistry c/o 2012, with Dr. Greg (Go Bruins!) and then went on to pursue an additional one-year Hospital Dentistry/General Practice Residency (GPR) at UCLA afterward.After her GPR year, she hopped across the 405 freeway to the West LA VA Hospital (Wadsworth) and completed a 3-year Advanced Prosthodontics Residency program, where she specialized in full mouth rehabilitation cases. Upon completion of her prosthodontic program, as the cherry on top, she went on to become a board-certified prosthodontist.
Outside of the office, you can find Dr. Shimada cooking, traveling, and gardening at home.She also loves the sunshine, and, most of all, Peloton-ing.She plays furbaby mom to two adorable, loving, and attention-starved cats, Sonny and Bruno.While she is no longer a musician in training, you may still catch her singing along with the official radio station.

I wanted to like this place but the front desk people are salesman and tried to pressure me to get X-rays even though I had X-rays from January. I was in sales so I know what it's like to be pitched to and given rebuttals. They kept saying that I didn't have full X-rays or they were required by law. They also said I had "perio" disease even though it's called periodontal disease and their periodontist literally told me I didn't have it. I was going to get a cleaning and even pay out of pocket but the constant pressure to get X-rays and pay extra for them made me uncomfortable and back out of actually scheduling the cleaning. Also, I was told by a separate receptionist that my insurance would cover the cleaning which was weird because I knew I had used up my two cleanings for the year. Than I talked to another receptionist who said I had to pay out of pocket which I thought was the case. Pretty disappointed as I wanted to like this place however I guess they have to pay the bills someway. They also have plenty of open slots which is interesting as most high demand dentists are usually booked a month in advance. I would go see a separate dentist and get a second quote to avoid getting milked for money.

I went to South Redondo Dental Group for some major work on my gums. Dr. Shimada and Dr. Solanki were both incredibly kind and knowledgeable, making sure I had no pain through the procedure and thoroughly explaining what they were doing and what I should expect. The assistants Michelle and Sharla were friendly and helped keep me relaxed throughout while assisting the surgery, as well. I'd absolutely recommend here and certainly plan on returning.

I love that I was able to schedule my appointment online and also Submitted the patient form online. The front desk staff was amiable and helpful. I went in for a root canal but was referred to an endodontic but will be back for other procedures in the near future.

I had my zoom teeth whitening procedure done today by Sasha! She was so informative and gental, I did not feel an ounce of sensitivity! I also had a bonding done by Sharla and she made sure the shade was a little lighter knowning I was going to whiten. These girls definitly know what they're doing because of Dr. Greg and Dr. Kelly! You will not be dissapointed coming to this office for your cosmetic and preventative needs!

Everyone at South Redondo Dental Group is very professional and nice. I went to see Dr. Shimada and feel fully confident in my care. They make sure you're comfortable and clearly explain your dental health/issues and procedures. Plus the view from their office is great.

I've just returned from one of several office visits with the South Redondo Dental Group. Consistently their entire team has been friendly, courteous and professional from the moment I walk in. I have appreciated how they are mindful that some people have anxiety about dental procedures, so they give you a moment by moment explanation of what to expect and how to have agency during all procedures. They anticipate that it's helpful to have the financial and insurance matters fully explained for future planning. With manageable payment plans as needed. So no surprises there! The team is very collaborative and seem to genuinely enjoy each other. There's often background laughter blended with upbeat music! With the new renovations, they definitely have the best ocean views hands down! I would highly recommend this incredible team! D. Masten

Appointments begin promptly. Information is provided in detail. Phone calls are promptly replied to. The staff is friendly. Their floor is beautiful and clean. Doctor Shvartsmann, Sasha, and Rachel are delightful to work with. I have never felt this confident with my smile until now - thanks to their team! I highly recommend them. A nice view of the city and ocean is appreciated too.

I love Rachel my dental hygienist. She is so very gentle and always asks if anything is hurting at all. She is such a breath of fresh air. Her memory is like no other. She remembers all our conversations. It's like getting together with an old friend and we just pick up where we left off. I am pretty nervous at the dentist, but she really takes my anxiety away! Dr. Shimada is a pleasure! She really makes you feel comfortable too. Thanks South Redondo Dental Group!

10 out of 10. I found them online. I haven't been to the dentist since my dentist retired in my mid 20s. I'm 33 now so you do the math! I needed some work done meaning 5 cavities! I was given a treatment plan and I had 4 appointments total. They offer insurance if you don't have it and they also take PPO (score!) I've had the same dentist since kindergarten in Orange County. Moving to south Redondo 3 years ago I was way over due... I read the reviews and I was sold. But when I walked in it was even better than I expected. The front desk is SUPER helpful. When I was having trouble online they were so helpful and responsive. When I walked in for my appointment the girls at the desk were so welcoming and kind. The best service I've ever had. Also my everyone that worked on me were soooooo great. I love the dentist btw so it was fun for me none the less. When they sat me in the chair the view made me tear up. We live on the biggest hill in south Redondo and have an amazing view but coming here we're literally up close and personal w the ocean. No complaints here! My experience was sooooo great w the first appointment and my treatment plan that I knew this was the perfect place for my boyfriend.

Best experience I've ever had at a dentist. From front desk to out the door, friendly group of people. Diane was knowledgeable and thorough with the cleaning and instruction. I left them knowing more about teeth hygiene and flossing that I was surprised to have not known. Great experience, I will be back in 6.
