Dr. Mario J. Martinez was raised in Miami, FL and attended Christopher Columbus High School, class of 1988. He graduated from the University of Florida (Bachelors of Science in Advertising) in 1993 and the University of Iowa (Doctor of Dental Surgery) in 1998. While at the University of Iowa, he was presented with the Deans Leadership Award his senior year.
After graduation he completed a two-year residency in pediatric dentistry at Lutheran Medical Center (LMC) in New York City where he served as Chief Resident his second year and taught at NYUs College of Dentistry. While at LMC he published an article in the journal of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry titled The New Era of Pretracheal/Precordial Stethoscopes. Dr. Martinez is involved in many local dental study clubs and has served as President of the Rivera Dental Study Club and South Dade Dental Study Club. He has lectured locally and internationally on Pediatric Dentistry. In 2009, he presented a lecture in Barbados to the Caribbean Dental Conference titled, Nitrous Oxide and Pediatric Dentistry.
Dr. Martinez has been on staff at Miami Childrens Hospital for over 20years and is a former Chief of the Dental Department at Miami/Nicklaus Childrens Hospital, having served two consecutive terms. He was also elected to the Medical Executive Committee, serving as the only dentist in the committee . He is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the American Dental Association, the Florida Dental Association and the Florida Dental Society of Anesthesiology.
Dr. Martinez is board certified in Pediatric Dentistry and a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistryas well asa Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. Board Certification is a very rigorous process which involves a written examination and an oral examination by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Martinez is married to his wife, Arlene, and has two daughters and one son.
Dr. Danielle Fernandez (Dr. Dani) was born and raised in Miami, FL and graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes Academy (class of 2005). She graduated from the University of Florida in 2009, where she received her Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Sciences. She then moved to Boston and graduated from the Boston University Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine in 2014 with magna cum laude honors.
She decided to continue her training at BU by pursuing a one-year residency in General Dentistry (AEGD). The program further strengthened her passion for the pediatric population and motivated her to pursue the specialty. She moved down to Tampa, FL to complete her two-year residency program at NYU Langone Medical Centers (formerly known as Lutheran Medical Centers) in 2017.
Dr. Fernandez and her husband, Andrew, who is a general dentist decided to stay in Tampa to pursue their working opportunities and are proud to call Tampa the birthplace of their daughter, Olivia. Being that Miami is their hometown, they knew it was only a matter of time before they moved back.
Dr. Fernandez believes that a child's smile is their biggest asset and she is excited to help keep those Miami smiles beautiful, bright and healthy! On her free time, she enjoys spending time with her husband, daughter, family and friends, spinning, running, and reading a good book. She is very excited and honored to join the South Miami Pediatric Dental Associates team and looks forward to meeting, and in some cases, re-meeting you soon!
Dr. Fernandez is board certified in Pediatric Dentistry and is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, American Dental Association, Florida Dental Association and the West Coast District Dental Association.

This is the best dentist office in Miami, FL!!! The office is super clean. They dress up to make the kids feel comfortable and at ease. The staff makes you feel like you're at home. They are so friendly and humble... you feel like you have known them for years since the first visit. I absolutely love this place from the receptionist to the doctors. I highly recommend this office to every parent in Miami!!

What an amazing group of professionals. I highly recommend this dental practice, they have the patience it takes, they really care and have the dedication. My son had a wonderful experience. The doctors are very friendly and patient. Incredibly knowledgeable and professional. Your child will feel at ease and will get to go home with lots of gifts! The space is clean, bright and playful!

Such a great 1st experience. My son was welcomed and made comfortable and so was I. We were seen by Dr Martinez and he was so nice and very relatable. He made us feel comfortable and was very clear with our treatment options. I would recommend anyone with children to visit South Florida Pediatric Dental. Looking forward to seeing them again

Wow! What an amazing office! Family first! Felt like i had known the staff for years! Made us feel like family, so transparent, knowledgeable and understanding.
