Dr. Balikyan received his undergraduate and Doctoral Degrees at the most prestigious University of California Universities. Dr Balikyan earned his Bachelors degree in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology from UC Santa Barbara, which then led him to earn his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree, from one of the leading schools in Dentistry at University of California at San Francisco.
Dr. Balikyan is an active member of American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, California Dental Association, and San Gabriel Valley Dental Association. Love this place! They always take me on time I'm never sitting in the waiting room very long. I always come in with questions and they always have no problem answering them. The doctor and the hygienists are all very good. I love that they get me in and out pretty quick and really get a good clean on my teeth!

This is a wonderful dental office. The dentist and technicians are just wonderful. Always there to explain anything that comes up very pleasant and very professional when it comes to dealing with their patients. I also would like to say oboe nice their office people are as well. Always a great experience dealing with this dental office. I would recommend them to anyone.

Worst dental experience for me in 10 years! They try to sell unnecessary service to you. All kinds of add-ons. Their teeth cleaning is also careless and very rough. I cannot see the inside of my mouth during the cleaning, but through my pain feelings and the pictures of my bleeding afterwards, i think the hygienist used floss too hard and it cut into my gums at several spots. I think this is totally avoidable if you just don't push the floss to my gums! My previous dentists never made me bleed in flossing or cleaning. I absolute would NOT recommend it. Never come back again and I will tell everyone I know not to come. ------------ Since South Lake Dental replied to me, I will add more details on what they did. Btw they talked about my teeth situation in their reply, and it's illegal for medical professionals to leak patients' medical records. 1. When you sign the patient details documents, they slipped one form into the usual patient forms you need to sign. That form asks you to consent to a "new technology" which costs additional 35 dollars. It is unnecessary because I explicitly asked for what procedures i want for my visits. 2. The doctor tried to persuade me into a filling, which is a small black piece on the surface of a teeth. I knew about piece half a year ago with my previous dentist, who told me it's not necessary to fill. You can argue if this is "unnecessary add-on", but I will leave for others to think why South Lake Dental has a different scale of necessity. Judging from other reviews here, I am not alone. 3. The hygienist at South Lake Dental is the major thing that I have a problem with. I only looked for a regular cleaning. I did teeth cleaning twice a year in 10 years and i have never experienced such bad techniques. Everything is very rough. I think the hygienist used floss to repeatedly cut into my gums, and several places were bleeding yesterday. I am still hurting pretty bad the second day and canot really bite anything hard. I guess this bleeding also "necessary" in your scale? The funniest thing is that when I talked to South Lake Dental again, doctor was insisting on flossing can cause bleeding. Please, I know what flossing is and I know my gums were not inflammed (now they are after your cleaning). I have done regular cleaning many times before. Don't try to gaslight me Overall it's a really bad experience. Not only the service itself is bad. Their attitude is even worse when you raise a problem. I have 5 friends who went to South Lake Dental before and I talked in-depth with them yesterday on what happened. All of them agreed that South Lake Dental wants to sell add-ons and it's important to turn down whatever they tried to sell (one ridiculous example is that they tried to sell my friend one cup of "deep-cleaning" mouth rinse for $75). One had the same hygienist Anna as me and said she has been rough to him too. One friend actually warned me about this "add-on" things before I came, and explicitly told me that she would NOT recommend me to go. I now really regret not listening to her.

Been with South Lake Dental for what I believe is 2 years...? Around there. I can tell ya they're good people doing good, honest work. That's why I stay. And they KNOW how to have a good laugh. Honestly, having that comfort really means a lot in the dentist business, and I've changed around a lot. I'm just really thankful. Stay awesome South Lake Dental, and I'll really work on my flossing. I called in the morning because I was having tooth sensitivity. The dentist was able to see me in the afternoon and diagnosed the problem right away and take care of it. I was very happy with the professionalism and results of the service.
