South Knox Dental was established by Dr. Robert Freeman 50 years ago. His legacy of providing the highest level of dental care by treating patients like family, prioritizing integrity in his work, and offering comprehensive dental solutions without surprises remains at the core of our practice. Dr. Gloria Serrano grew up loving going to the dentist- she even asked her oral surgeon if she could watch her take her wisdom teeth out! Born in Canada, she grew up in Atlanta and got her Bachelor of Science in chemistry from Georgia State University. After graduation she and her husband, Isaac, settled in Knoxville.
Dr. Foncea loves what he does. For over twenty years he has enjoyed the problem solving, clinical practice, and cosmetic artistry of dentistry. Finding solutions, especially for patients who have been unable to find solutions before, is one of his favorite parts of each day as well as teaching other members of his team what he has learned. When hes not in the office, he loves camping, biking, hiking and everything that involves a board: surfboards, skateboards, and snowboards. He and his wife, Julie, raised their kids, Jacob and Janie here, and have called Knoxville home for 21 years.
He received his Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry (DMD), from Boston University, Goldman School of Dental Medicine in 1997. He has taken extensive advanced training courses in Cosmetic, Reconstructive and Implant dentistry. His first full mouth reconstruction started in 2003; he began implant placements in 2005 and his first Invisalign case was in 2009. He has been featured on WBIR and WATE 8 over the past 16 years as their featured dentist regarding dental health topics. His favorite candy is Snickers.
Kelley is originally from Panama City Beach, FL and moved to East TN in 2019. She has been a part of the dental community for over 10 years and enjoys being part of complete smile transformations. She and her husband Josh spend their free time traveling, attending sporting events, or being out and about with friends and family and their fur baby Sawyer.
Sherry is originally from Smyrna, GA and moved to East TN in 2017 with her son Jonah. She has been a part of the dental community for over 20 years! Sherry spends her free time cooking healthy meals, shopping, or singing Karaoke. You may also find her and Jonah exploring the beautiful hiking trails, waterfalls, and mountains that East TN has to offer.
Catherine was born and raised in East TN. She enjoys working in the dental field and getting to know the person behind the smile. On the weekends, you can find her outside enjoying the summertime weather, running her bounce house rental company with her husband, or spoiling her Great Dane, ZuZu.
Born in New Jersey, Jennifer bounced from place to place until she made East Tennessee her home 22 years ago. She spent the last 15 years working alongside Dr. Freeman, South Knox Dentals founding dentist. Jennifer has been married for 29 years, and now that her children are grown up, she spends her free time running marathons, baking and traveling.
Tasha is a South Knoxville native, graduating from South Doyle in 2003. She began her dental career in 2004 alongside Dr.Foncea. Her favorite thing about dentistry is getting to know her patients and being a part of their oral health journey. Tasha has been married for 18 years and has 4 children. Free time is usually spent at school sporting events, hiking in the mountains, or camping in incredible places.
Born and raised in Tennessee, Lindsey has been married for 10 years and she and her husband Matt have two boys. She loves her church and enjoys spending time with her family doing outdoor activities like hiking and wading in the Clinch River to fish for brown and rainbow trout.
Landree is originally from Newport, TN and has been in dentistry for over 11 years. She loves working one on one with her patients and providing quality care. When Landree and her daughter Aubree arent traveling, you can find them at your local sporting event, cooking or eating any kind of chocolate!

I can not say enough good things about South Knox Dental!! Dr. Serrano and her team are so kind and helpful. I was able to schedule with the office quickly and the front desk girls made the whole process seamlessly easy. I love that they offer an in house membership for people like me who don't have insurance. You can tell they really care about their patients. 10/10 would recommend to anyone who is looking for a Dentist in the South Knox area :]

I have put off taking care of my teeth due to care of others and funds, but everyone in this office treated me with kindness and understanding. They have wonderful bedside manner and they aren't pushy. I will continue to take my time and get things done here when funds allow. Thanks South Knox Dental.

Called for an appointment for a loose abutment that was done out of state which was causing pain and obviously working the implant loose the longer unaddressed. They couldn't find 15 minutes to remove the crown and abutment and install a healing cap until 5 days later. Unfortunately the appointment wasn't necessary as the entire implant came out. -- Really inconsiderate organization in my opinion. Lack of prioritization cost thousands and set back another year in the completion process.

I've had nothing but nightmares from this place. Absolutely horrible. It's like they're learning on every patient, it's like they're still in school. Dr Serrano is fresh out of school and terrible at her work. I literally went over 10 times for 1 tooth, probably 15 times. Everyone is forced to go here because other offices are all busy. THIS PLACE IS TERRIBLE. They literally left me with work that they haven't completed so many times! Godddddd do not waste your time with these amateurs

Today was my first time seeing Dr. Serrano and her team. I am extremely pleased to have found this office! Jennifer helped me navigate scheduling my appointment (plus, worked me in after I fouled up the dates, oops!) and was very helpful with some questions I had regarding my intake paperwork. I was then greeted by Jennifer who took me back to start getting my X-rays & first time patient pictures taken. She was very knowledgeable and answered all of my questions comprehensively. She was careful to make sure I was comfortable and checked in with me often during my cleaning. Shortly after the final procedure, Dr. Serrano greeted me and welcomed me to their office. She was so cheerful! She exhibited great bedside manner and gave me some much needed recommendations for the continued health of my teeth and gums. I've never been excited to go to the dentist but am truly looking forward to my next visit at South Knox Dental.

Listen, if you are like me reading reviews online trying to find a dentist who will be compassionate and not judgmental on decisions you have made regarding your dental health...THEN STOP RIGHT NOW. MAKE AN APPOINTMENT WITH SOUTH KNOX DENTAL!! All of the online reviews for SKD speak to exactly what to expect from this office and its staff. Everyone is so kind and friendly. My anxiety about finding a new dentist was at an all-time high, but I found some comfort in making an appointment based on other client reviews. So here I am leaving one myself. Landry was/is amazing! She took the time to explain everything Dr. Serrano planned on doing and walked me though cost & my insurance portions. Lindsey was just as awesome as Landry! She took my dental photos and made me feel at ease as well. Anxiety and being at the dentist office just go hand in hand for me lol, but these ladies me feel so comfortable. By the time I saw Dr. Serrano my anxiety had subsided, but she continued to be mindful of how I was feeling and asked frequently if I was still doing good. That made a huge impression on me. I was worried about judgement on neglecting things I probably should have addressed earlier on, but there was no judgement from Dr. Serrano. She genuinely wants to help people feel better about their teeth and their smile. I left my appointment feeling positive about the decisions we made together regarding my dental health. I am so glad I made the choice to become part of the SKD family! I hope you make the same smart decision!!

Called yesterday to schedule a appointment to get a painful tooth pulled and they fitted me in the next day! I met the nicest people. Everyone was so warm and caring. Dr.Serrano is so nice and checked on me constantly making sure I was ok while pulling my tooth. Landry helped her and she was very sweet, and kelley and front desk ladies are so nice. I was just in awe of how well they treated me and great atmosphere

I am a physician seeking guidance to decide on dentures and/or dental implants. I first went to a dentist with only one option dental implants. I went to South Knox Dental today. The staff were very pleasant and mindful of the cost. After a 45 minute free consultation several options were provided. All of my questions ,dental and financial, were answered. After 3 decades in medical practice I know what an ethical practice looks like...South Knox Dental.

I had an urgent dental issue, but also wanted to establish with a new dental group. I called several places, that could not take care of my needs in a timely manner. SKD not only worked me in the next day, they were all so kind and compassionate. They were extremely transparent about cost and discussed membership, payments, and insurance options up front so there were no surprises. All the gals at the practice made me feel very comfortable, which is difficult for me at any dentist!! They explained the process(es) fully, and genuinely showed concern about my pain and discomfort. So, while I was looking for a dentist, I truly feel like I became a part of SKD family. These guys are fantastic!!! Highly recommend!!

I was slightly nervous about going back to the dentist after a two year absence. We moved to Knoxville in January 2021 and after a year and change of driving past South Knox Dental I finally made an appointment. They were so wonderful! I was impressed by their state of the art equipment, and they were so kind and welcoming that I felt comfortable as soon as I walked in. Tasha explained everything she was doing while cleaning my teeth and I don't think I've ever received such a wonderfully thorough review of my xrays. My teeth felt squeaky clean afterwards and Dr. Serrano answered all of my questions and explained treatment options. I highly recommend them and am so happy they are in my neighborhood.

Friendly staff. Jennifer is very informative and gives positive feedback. Always glad to listen to your concerns. She is thorough and gets you in and out in a reasonable amount of time. Really seems to enjoy her job and is genuine with the care of person she is working on.

My experience at south Knox dental very well exceeded my expectations.I never believe a visit at the dentist could be so pleasant and relaxing until I came to south Knox dental.I met and amazing staff who made me feel like the comfort of my home.The professional level and the way my needs were met even to accommodate my pocket was beyond my imagination.They are my new family and I sure will recommend anyone who dreams of a healthy smile to come and experience it for yourself.Thanks to the staff one again for making my dream come true and my process wonderful.
