If you need to have dental work completed, we recommend visiting a sedation dentist. At South Florida Smile Spa, Nicole M. Berger, DDS , we offer sedation dentistry for patients living in and around the Pompano Beach area. We understand that for millions of adults, visiting the dentist can be an overwhelming or frightening experience due to dental anxiety. This common condition typically starts by a negative experience or becoming fearful of the general idea of dentistry. While common, you do not have to be concerned about visiting our dentist office because we can ensure your comfort the entire time.

Sedation Dentistry For many people, dental anxiety is a major reason for not seeking the dental work that they need, in many cases desperately. If you count yourself among the millions of dental phobics in the United States, we certainly understand. Whether you have had a bad dental experience in the past or are simply fearful of the sights, sounds, and sensations associated with dentistry, the practice of Nicole M. Berger, D.D.S., welcomes you. The sedation dentistry options available at our Pompano Beach area office will allow you to undergo multiple dental procedures if necessary, all while feeling no discomfort or anxiety whatsoever. In fact, any memories you have of your dental experience are likely to be highly pleasant.

Nitrous Oxide SedationNitrous Oxide sedation, also known as laughing gas is commonly used to make treatment more comfortable. This sedation is inhaled through a mask that allows you to breathe in the medication and induces a state of relaxation. Local anesthetic will be administered in conjunction with nitrous oxide to eliminate pain. It is not intended to put you to sleep. You will be able to hear and respond to any requests or directions the dentist may have. The effects of nitrous oxide wear off soon after the mask is removed.

If anxiety over dental procedures is getting in the way of your seeking dental treatment, you may be a candidate for sedation dentistry. Contact Dr. Nicole M. Berger at her Pompano Beach area dental practice to learn how you can lessen your fear of visiting the dentist through dental sedation.

For those needing oral surgery, total sedation may be necessary or preferable. This is often referred to as sleep dentistry because a patient is put to sleep and will not remember anything from the procedure. As a sedation dentist, we find that this is an excellent solution when a patient is getting a full smile makeover. When the majority of teeth are being worked on, the procedure can take a significant amount of time. We need to do dental work with precision and that requires not rushing through the procedure. With that in mind, our Pompano Beach patients may find it difficult to hold still when the treatment lasts longer than an hour or two. Going to sleep is a much better option because your body will naturally remain still, you will feel comfortable and not remember what took place during the treatment. If this is your preferred method of sedation dentistry, we will monitor you carefully during the treatment and afterwards to ensure that the anesthesia wears off like it should. You will also need to have someone drive you home and may feel slightly sluggish for the remainder of the day. These types of procedures typically call for rest and relaxation anyway, so take it easy at home before resuming normal activity the next day.

At the practice of Nicole M. Berger, D.D.S., we welcome fearful patients of all ages. To find out whether you are a suitable candidate for sedation dentistry at our Pompano Beach area practice, please contact our dental practice today.

Just about every patient who visits a dental practice will leave with a few tips about oral hygiene. Dental professionals can be a valuable resource for how to keep the mouth healthy and can talk at length about oral hygiene. Here are four things a dentist may want you to know about how to care

If you do not like the appearance of your smile, you do not have to live with it. While many people long for a beautiful, white and symmetrical smile, few realize just how easy it is to get one. Using dental cosmetics, we can transform ordinary, damaged or dull smiles into something truly beautiful.

Most general dentists will focus on preventative care and restorations; which we provide as well. However, we also provide solutions that can improve the way your teeth and gums look. At South Florida Smile Spa, Nicole M. Berger, DDS, we believe that you do not have to choose between the two. You can have a full set of teeth that allows you to eat without any problems and speak clearly, while also looking highly attractive. Our efforts will influence which solutions we suggest when it comes to repairing teeth or providing preventative dental care.

If you have cracked, chipped, broken, or lost a tooth, we recommend that you visit our Pompano Beach office for dental cosmetics. Our restorative solutions make it possible for you to keep your natural teeth in place while restoring their structure and appearance. We can provide restorations that are nearly impossible to tell apart from your natural teeth. A perfect example of how we apply this strategy is in the material we use to place dental crowns. When you visit our dental office with a cracked tooth, we can provide you with a tooth-colored crown as opposed to a silver one. The level of support and durability will be there but the appearance of your tooth will be enhanced.

South Florida Smile Spa, Nicole M. Berger, DDS offers several solutions for replacing missing teeth all of them natural looking. Whether you have lost one or several teeth due to decay, age, infection or an accident, we can replace them using dentures, a dental bridge, or dental implants. We will ensure that no matter which solution you select, the fit will be exact and the appearance as natural as possible. However, if you want a tooth replacement solution that looks and behaves exactly like a natural tooth, you may want to consider dental implants. An implant is the only dental cosmetic solution that replaces both your lost root and tooth. Through the process of osseointegration, the jawbone will provide the same level of stability to your implant and replacement tooth that it did to your natural one. You will then have the ability to eat all off your favorite foods and maintain an active lifestyle. Patients will be able to enjoy the long-term benefits of this and all of our tooth replacement solutions.

Improving the appearance of your smile can actually improve your oral health when it involves restoring damaged teeth or straightening them. A cracked or chipped tooth has the risk for an infection to set in and for the damage to spread. Crooked teeth are also more difficult to clean. Food can become stuck between the teeth, making it hard to remove the bits of food while brushing and flossing. This creates additional opportunities for plaque to build up and tooth decay to set in. At South Florida Smile Spa, Nicole M. Berger, DDS, we find that dental cosmetics can be an effective solution for both restoring and straightening to improve oral health.

When dealing with dental imperfections, there are many ways to improve your smile. Patients with issues such as misaligned, discolored, chipped or misshapen teeth, as well as gum disease, may feel embarrassed about their smiles. Fortunately, there are multiple tactics and treatments available that can enhance the color, shape and alignment of teeth. These are six

In recent years, dental cosmetics have come a long way. Patients are able to use crowns to restore teeth that are broken, decayed or stained. This type of restoration looks natural and can completely transform a person's smile. When a tooth is prepared for a crown, a temporary one is often cemented in place so

A cosmetic dentist performs procedures every day that improve the look of a patient's smile and help build confidence. Veneers are an option for patients who do not like the appearance of the teeth due to shape, size, damage or alignment. Applying veneers involves a multi-step process that includes permanent removal of some of the

While there are some new and wonderful ways to correct your teeth after they begin to erode, there are also several ways to prevent dental erosion from happening in the first place. There are several cosmetic dental defects that can occur from erosion such as discoloration, chipping and gum recession. In fact, gum recession can

Straightening teeth can be beneficial for more than just the overall appearance of one's teeth. By straightening teeth, patients also gain health benefits from teeth that do not have as many places to trap food in them as crooked teeth. However, many patients do not prefer the obvious and cumbersome metal braces that they have to wear in order to straighten their teeth.

Fortunately, we offer clear aligners as an alternative to braces that are just as effective. Patients will be able to benefit from wearing clear aligners while also straightening their teeth in a discreet manner. Clear aligners are an efficient alternative to traditional braces. Here are a few key factors that people need to understand about clear aligners.

Clear aligners are the preferable choice for many patients since they are removable and are not obvious to other people. The clear aligners come in a set, with each aligner being at a different position that gradually pushes the teeth into the proper position.

The aligners consist of a clear plastic material that does not change the color of the teeth and will only be noticeable when the wearer tells someone to look at the teeth up close. With the discreet appearance, patients will not need to feel self-conscious about wearing clear aligners.

Before patients begin the process, we will need to take molds and measurements of the patient's teeth. We will then send this data to the lab and measure out the treatment plan. For the treatment plan, the patient will wear different clear aligners every two weeks or so and move onto the next pair. With this process, the patient will only feel pain for the first day or so and will have straight teeth before they know it.

Clear aligners are also removable but need to stay in the patient's mouth for at least 22 hours a day. If the patient needs to remove the aligners to eat or to play a sports game, then he or she just needs to place them back in as soon as possible. When eating, patients will remove the aligners and return them to the mouth once they finish eating and clean their mouth out. People may also remove the aligners for an important meeting, presentation, date or to take photos. Below are a few factors that patients need to keep in mind when they are wearing clear aligners.

Clear aligners are not always the best treatment for children or children in their early teens. Since clear aligners require more responsibility to care for, children are not always responsible enough to take proper care of them. In many cases, a child may remove the clear aligners for lunch and then throw them out with the lunch bag by accident.

The child may also have trouble remembering to remove the aligners to brush his or her actual teeth each night and then replace the aligners. Since they require more care, we recommend that children stick to braces until they are more responsible.

While clear aligners are great for being a discreet straightening option, patients need to clean their teeth after each meal before placing the aligners back in. Patients remove the clear aligners to eat or drink and then must replace the aligners.

However, if one does not clean his or her teeth before replacing the aligners, then there is a good chance that the food will be visible in the aligners. Thus, we recommend that patients strive to brush or at least rinse the mouth with water after every meal.

While clear aligners are removable and the patient needs to take them out for certain situations, the patient needs to put them back in fairly quickly. With braces, the patient does not have the option to remove them and does not interrupt the overall straightening process. However, removing the aligners for too long can cause the teeth to begin to return to their old position.

The longer a patient removes the clear aligners for, the longer the treatment can take overall. Therefore, it is best to only remove the clear aligners for a certain amount of time before returning them to the mouth.

Clear aligners are an alternative to braces that use clear molded trays instead of metal brackets, wires and elastics. Clear aligners offer patients a less noticeable way to straighten their teeth; however, they also place a slightly greater burden on care and proper usage with the patient. If patients do not follow the outlined instructions for

A few years ago, before clear aligners became the big thing, braces were the most common option available for straightening the teeth. Most adults consider traditional braces unsightly and would therefore never get them. Fortunately, clear aligners are now available for adults who want to correct mild to moderate teeth misalignment or crowding.Unlike traditional braces

When it comes to straightening crooked teeth, Invisalign for teens is an excellent option for many families. This system is appealing due to its numerous benefits:Shorter treatment timelinesDiscreet appearanceLess discomfortFewer dietary restrictionsAs with any type of alignment system, teenagers need guidance when managing the new responsibility of wearing and caring for Invisalign trays. I've been a patient of Dr. Berger for nearly 9 years now. I was initially recommended to her practice for sedation dentistry as I have a great deal of anxiety. I cannot recommend Nicole and her team highly enough, she puts you at ease and consistently demonstrates her commitment and passion to helping her patients. The team here is like a family and I feel so deeply cared for every time I am here. My regular hygienist is Kim and her work is perfection. She is always so incredibly kind and encouraging and makes a true connection with her patients. When going in for more complex procedures requiring sedation I whole heartedly feel like the entire team has got me, I was surrounded by their support, praise, and encouragement from beginning to end and felt so comfortable. They pull out all the stops and make you their #1 priority while you are there. I cannot recommend this team highly enough and they have a loyal patient for life. My teeth have never looked better and that is entirely because of the support they've given me.

Love Dr. Berger and her staff. Had a front tooth implant done not too long ago; she sent the first one back to the lab, saying it wasn't a good enough match. When I see pictures of my smile, I can't tell the difference between the implant and the real tooth next to it. She really cares.

Dr. Berger is incredible. Not only has she taken great care of my teeth, but she is also lovely to speak with at every appointment. Dr. Berger and her team are extremely thorough in both the explanations for the treatment, as well as the servies. I began my treatment plan with her office in need of multiple fillings, and my front teeth were not in the best shape. After having all the work completed, as well as front crowns, my smile is 1000 times better, and the crowns look incredible. You would never realize that they are not my actual teeth! The meticulousness and attention to detail that Dr. Berger provides truly show in the final results, and I highly recommend becoming her patient!

Dr. Berger is amazing!!! When I moved to Florida I had to get a new dentist & she was highly recommended. From my first appointment with her I knew she really cared about her patients. She did a full exam & took X-Rays of my mouth, she then showed me on the big screen what areas needed work & made sure I understood why & what to expect moving forward. She doesnt rush things & makes sure things are done perfectly. My mouth had a full transformation in just 6 months & I am confident the work she did is the best! Monica (at the front desk) is also the best, she gave me a layout of costs at my first appointment so I was aware off the bat how much everything was & was very accommodating on my payment plan. Overall, I am super happy with my services & am already looking forward to my next cleaning :)

Everyone at Dr.Berger's office is so warm and welcoming! I have always had a fear of the dentist which resulted in needing a lot of dental work and Dr.Berger has been so accommodating and gentle and made my experience of getting 2 root canals less frightening and relatively painless. The oral surgeon they use, Dr.Pike was also amazing and finished one wisdom tooth extraction in 20 minutes and it was painless! I would recommend anyone come here for their dental work, this has been the best dental experience I have ever had

UPDATE 12/11/2020: Back today for some follow up work and a cleaning. Always a positive experience at this practice. Since the advent of Covid, Dr Berger and her team taking all the appropriate steps and precautions to provide a proactively safe environment. This little gem, The South Florida Smile Spa, deserves all the positive feedback you see here on Google. Friendly and professional with meticulous attention to detail. Special thanks go out to Monica, Kirsten, Kim, Janice and of course Dr Berger for always being on their A game. I will be back early in the new year for work related to two damaged crowns. Not being the bravest patient, for me to have this work done, without full sedation, speaks volumes for the comfort level and confidence I have in this team. No hesitation to continue recommending this practice. Your search ends here. ------------------------------------------- Outstanding experience this morning. This is a very well run business. Easy to schedule, thank you Linda. Comprehensive website and online presence. Elegantly designed office. Excellent cleaning provided by Kim and a comprehensive evaluation with Dr. Nicole and Janice. Everyone was very professional, attentive and friendly. A+. Thank you all and have a nice weekend :) - Mark ------------------------------------------- UPDATE 12/30/2019: Another great visit with Dr Nicole and her team today. Procedure involved removing some old white fillings where my previous dentist had left traces of amalgam underneath, which is not, to put it in a term 'good practice', and only serves to compromise the integrity of the overall filling. Dr Berger's team worked on me for a couple of hours removing this and replacing with a stable composite (white) filling. This was a minor procedure. But my anxiety level runs pretty high anytime I'm in dentist chair, due to a traumatic childhood dental experience. Anytime I have had work done since then, I have elected to (at my own expense) go for full sedation. My level of comfort with Dr Nicole and her team, gave me the courage to have this done wide awake. I got through it, and that's exclusively because she took her time, explaining every step of the way what she was doing and what to expect. All too often we only hear from people in reviews who have an axe to grind or a poor experience. But it's also important to share good experiences. For anyone looking for an amazingly professional and caring team to take care of their dental needs, your search stops here.Period Dr Nicole offers a full suite of sedation options if you are not yet ready to make the leap like I did. There is zero doubt in my mind, but you will have an excellent experience here that will exceed your expectations. Especially if you are, as I would consider myself, to be a 'high maintenance patient'. Thank you to Miss Kim, and Miss Christy for being so thoughtful and helpful. Go pay them a visit, you will not be disappointed. Happy new year to you all. Wishing you every continued success in 2020. You are all amazing. Keep up the outstanding work :) - Mark
