Dr. Mary Fiedler founded her private dental practice in 1988 and has been helping Orange County families smile for over 30 years. Celebrating the addition of her son, Dr. Brandan Althof, joining the dental team in 2015, we changed our practice name to South County Family Dental, Inc.
Our compassionate, professional staff is dedicated to providing you with the highest level of personalized healthcare possible. We proudly provide care for patients of all ages, and we treat each patient like a family member. Since we are dentist owned - and not tied to a large dental corporation - our primary focus is you!
Dr. Brandan Althof, son of Dr. Mary Fiedler, graduated from the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC in 2015. He was honored on the Dean's List and was President of his dental fraternity, Delta Sigma Delta. During dental school, Dr. Althof treated patients in many areas of Los Angeles, including Skid Row, the LA county hospital, and the Hollenbeck nursing home. He also treated underprivileged childrenin various mobile clinics associated with USC. Dr. Althof believes that each patient deserves the best possible care, and is excited to continue helping families in Southern California smile.
Dr. Althof attended the University of California, Los Angeles for his undergraduate education. He graduated in 2011 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology with academic honors. He also graduated from Tesoro High School in 2007 with many honors including Valedictorian, National Honor Society, CSF Lifetime Member,AP Scholar with Distinction, Varsity Swimmer, Eagle Scout, and more.
Ashley grew up in Massachusetts. She graduated from Quinsigamond Community College in 2011 with her Associates in Science, concentrating in Dental Hygiene. She has worked as a Dental Hygienist for 11 years, working in Tampa, Florida and Boston, Massachusetts. In 2016 she decided to go back to college to advance her education and completed her Bachelors degree in Health Science with a concentration in Behavioral and Social Sciences from University of South Florida, graduating in 2020.
In 2010 Ashley received the Woman of Distinction award from Quinsigamond Community College for her outstanding contribution to her family, peers and community. She was the recipient of the Women in Leadership and Philanthropy Scholarship in 2018 from the University of South Florida. She won a trip to the 88th annual American Dental Hygienists Association in Nashville, TN in 2011.
From 2014-2017 she participated with Dentistry with Love, providing free dental cleanings to underprivileged patients and in 2015 she volunteered with Community Health Council in Iquitos, Peru on a Medical Mission trip to perform dental cleanings and educate children and young adults.
She moved with her husband to establish roots in sunny Southern California. Ashley enjoys traveling, spending time with family and friends, reading, hiking, meditation and going to the track to watch her husband ride his sports motorcycle bike. She has a passion to educate patients and create lasting bonds with them. She is very happy to have met and work with Dr. Fiedler and Althof.
Dr. Mary Fiedler graduated from the University of Southern California's School of Dentistry with honors in 1988. Upon graduation, she was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry with academic honorsfrom the University of California at Davis in 1984. While at UC Davis, Dr. Fiedler was on the swim team, became a National Champion, and was inducted into their Athletic Hall of Fame in 2001.
Dr. Fiedler is trained in all facets of dentistry, with over 30years of experience treating all ages of patients. She provides comprehensive dental care for all of her patients including preventative care, cosmetic dentistry, implant restorations, Invisalign (certified in 2001), Orthodontics, Lumineers, white fillings, emergency care, and more. She has taken - and continues to take - hundreds of hours of continuing education courses in all phases of dental treatment, and participates in local study clubs with her colleagues.
Over the years, Dr. Fiedler has served as facultyat the Herman Ostrow School of Dentistry of USC and Cerritos College, where shetaught Oral Pathology to the Dental Hygiene Students. Her love of teaching dental studentsbegan early as she instructed at USC Dental School as a dental student.
Dr. Fiedler has been happily married to her husband& high school sweetheart, Ed,for over 31years. They have three children, with their oldest, Brandan, joining South County Family Dental after his graduation from USC Dental School 3 years ago. Their daughter, Alison, recently graduated with multiple honors from the University of Arizona with a Finance Degree and is now working as a financial advisor. Their youngest daughter, Stephanie, is busy with high school, voluteering with NCL, and dance performances. In her free time, Dr. Fiedler enjoys photography, scrap booking, swimming, traveling, family time, and volunteering with her daughter.

They are amazing!!! I had a great deal of work that needed to be done & I felt I was at a spa while in good care! They are so sensitive to your pain & comfort. Dr. Mary Fiedler and Dr. Althof are so kind & educated. They spare nothing to give you the best care you can possibly have. My situation was incredibly complicated & they were able to take time to take care of my needs. I have had other dentists that wanted to pull my teeth, they believe in saving your teeth first & foremost. Always get a second opinion & go here to do it!!!

Excellent results on my teeth, I am extremely happy with the veneers they put in. Mary Fiedler and her team are experts and perfectionists. From cleaning and all types of dentistry, our whole family has had exceptional care for years.

Dr. Althof and the team in this office are fantastic. They are prompt with being on time for every appointment, incredibly clean, and most importantly very genuine and kind! Dr. Althof has improved my smile and bite in so many ways and has done so with gentleness, the least amount of work needed to get the job done, and confidence. His attention to detail is second to none! I have sent my family and friends to him, who have all had the same wonderful experience. This office is outstanding!

Dr. Althof has completely changed my opinion about going to the dentist. I use to suffer from major dental anxiety and he is able to put me at ease during every visit. He is extremely knowledgeable and skilled in everything he does. Additionally, he has a great "bed side" manner and is always available for me and all my dental needs, which unfortunately for me is quite frequently. The rest of the staff is very personable and accommodating to my busy work schedule as well. I would highly recommend this dental practice to anyone looking for a fantastic dentist and team.

Dr. Brandon Althof deserves 10 stars. He came in on his day off to fix a broken tooth of mine. He is so caring and compassionate... you can tell he is smiling even with that face mask on! I would recommend him to anyone looking for a dentist. His office is very clean, with hand sanitizer available for me to use. What I appreciated the most was that he put me at ease by explaining every step. I will be a patient from now on! Thank you- from Coco.

After years of suffering from migraines, I decided to try therapeutic Botox injections to relieve them. I'm happy to say I haven't had a migraine since! This has been the first month in my adult life that I haven't had a debilitating migraine. I couldn't be happier.

Mary has been my dentist my entire life and I continue to actually look forward to dentist appointments. Everyone in the entire office is very friendly and goes out of their way to make sure you are comfortable and feel welcomed. Now that Brandon is mainly seeing me for my cleanings, I still enjoy going. Both Brandon and Mary are amazing at their jobs and genuinely care about their patients! Now that I have moved away I still make sure to come back to town every six months so I can continue to have them as my dentists.

Wow, the staff at South County Family Dental are on a whole new level of amazing! Not only is everyone friendly but they are also so knowledgeable and take the time to educate the patient. I would recommend Dr. Althof to my family and friends in a heartbeat!
