Dr. Niketa Thompson is a native of Mississippi. She was born in Huntsville so returning to Alabama is like coming home. Dr. Thompson completed a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology, graduating from Oakwood University in Huntsville, AL. It was during a year of service in her undergraduate experience that she gained a love for dentistry. She traveled to Suriname, South America, to the Amazon, learning to extract teeth and other procedures benefiting natives, under the tutelage of Dr. Rick Cole of Yuba City, CA. After completing her bachelors degree, Dr. Thompson was admitted to the University of Mississippi Medical Center School of Dentistry, where she obtained her Doctor of Dental Medicine degree.
Following dental school Dr. Thompson furthered her scope of practice by completing a General Practice Residency at the University of Mississippi Medical Center, an advanced educational training and hospital-based program focused on medically compromised patients. There she treated patients with special healthcare needs, senior citizens and became a Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program Medical Provider.
It has always been Dr. Thompsons mission to use her skills to share love for people and dentistry, and to spread her passion for promoting good oral health for all ages. She aims to create an inclusive and affirming practice, one that provides care to ALL of South Alabama.
Dr. Thompson is committed to continuously educating herself and her team on the newest dental techniques. To accomplish that, she is a member of the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry and Alabama Dental Association.

Dr. Thompson was AMAZING! Very compassionate, helpful, caring, and sincere. She enjoys what she does and you can tell by how she treats you and talk you through what's going on. Probably the best dentist I've been to, hands down! Absolutely love her!

Dr. Thompson is amazing and compassionate. I had a dental emergency with a broken tooth and she came in on Saturday morning when she is typically closed to see me and get it all fixed up. I have major dental anxiety and she made me feel relaxed and checked in with me repeatedly throughout put the procedure to make sure I was doing alright and wasn't in any pain. Also if you are used to having pain or major pinch issues during the numbing process you won't find that here with Dr. Thompson. 10/10 reccomend for pain free numbing shots!

I was so scared to go back to the dentist since moving to Mobile from the other side of the state. But everyone there was so incredibly friendly and so gentle they really help my anxiety with dentist offices.

The staff were very nice and down to earth. They would be wonderful for children because they are gentle and care about how you're feeling. I would recommend everyone to come here and choose them as their dentist!

New to the area and was looking for a good dentist and happy to say South Alabama Smiles checks all the boxes. Walking in, the office is very nice and clean. Everyone I met at the office is wonderful, super friendly, and professional. As for the cleaning, the dental hygienist did a great job. No more stubborn coffee stains and my teeth feel so clean.

I had my first appointment here today, and I enjoyed my experience, Sam the Hygienist did a thorough job with cleaning and examining my teeth! And Dr. Thompson was so nice and sweet and gentle the whole staff is great! HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!

Recently relocated here and was in search for a great dentist. I found this office on social media and scheduled a visit. I can truly say this was the best experience I've had with a trip to the dentist. Dr. Thompson was so knowledgeable and very comforting! She and Amanda were so helpful in forming a plan to get my teeth on track! I am so grateful for such a wonderful experience!
