Each patient presents a unique set of orthodontic issues and I find it rewarding to work with each individual patient to create his or her ideal smile. Revealing a patients new smile at the end of orthodontic treatment is the best part of my job.
Dr. Jack Hou attended the University of Tennessee, Knoxville where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry. He completed dental school, graduating with his Doctorate of Dental Surgery, at the University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, where he was also inducted into the Omega Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society. To complete his orthodontic training, Dr. Jack attended the University of Tennessee Health Science Center in Memphis, TN, earning his Master of Dental Science and Orthodontic Certificate.
Dedicated to providing the most efficient and comfortable treatments for his patients, Dr. Jack is active in several local study clubs where dentists and dental specialists get together to keep up to date with the latest trends in dentistry and orthodontics. He has presented cases at local study clubs as well as on a national level at the American Association of Orthodontists annual meetings.
In addition to continuing his own education, Dr. Jack also contributes to the education of future orthodontists. He is an affiliate assistant professor at the University of Washington, Department of Orthodontics where he teaches first-year orthodontic residents the fundamentals of wire bending. He is also an instructor at the Charles H. Tweed International Orthodontic Foundation. There, he instructs orthodontists and orthodontic residents in a two-week continuing education course on techniques in orthodontic treatment planning and fundamentals of wire bending
Born Staten Island, NY, Dr. Jack grew up in Jackson, TN, and currently resides in Seattle. He and his wife, Dr. Kortne, have one daughter and one son. In his free time, Dr. Jack can be found on the golf course rain or shine, or playing outdoors with his family. Being raised by restaurant owners, he enjoys cooking for friends and his family.

Working together with each patient to transform his or her smile allows us to develop a wonderful relationship and makes the end result as rewarding for me as I hope it is for my patients. Dr. Kortne is originally from Fenton, MI, and currently resides in Seattle with her husband, Dr. Jack, and their two children. Year round, Dr. Kortne can be seen at parks with her children, spending time with friends and their kids, traveling to see family, and attempting new arts and craft projects. In the winter, Dr. Kortne enjoys skiing, and when summer arrives she will find any excuse to be outdoors.
I absolutely love being an orthodontist and feel very fortunate to be a part of this amazing team. Dr. Lauren was inspired to pursue a career in dentistry at young age by her father who is an oral surgeon. She completed her undergraduate education at the University of Southern California where she earned degrees in Biological Sciences and Japanese. She attended dental school at the University of Missouri-Kansas City and graduated with her Doctorate of Dental Surgery. Pursing her childhood dream of becoming an orthodontist, Dr. Lauren earned her Master of Science in Dentistry and Orthodontic Certificate from the University of Washington. After completing her orthodontic training, Dr. Lauren earned her board certification from the American Board of Orthodontics.
In addition to treating patients in our practice, Dr. Lauren is an affiliate assistant professor at the University of Washington, Department of Orthodontics Graduate Program. She teaches and works with the orthodontic residents to treat patients in the graduate clinic as a part of their training. Dr. Lauren is very grateful for the education she received and is passionate about paying it forward through teaching.
Dr. Lauren is originally from Honolulu, Hawaii and fell in love with the pacific northwest when she moved to Washington for her orthodontic training. She currently lives in Seattle with her fianc and their dog. Dr. Lauren loves spending time with friends and traveling to Hawaii to visit family and enjoy the warm, sunny weather there. Dr. Lauren has a passion for cooking and baking and is always up for a culinary challenge like decorating cakes and cookies. When she is not in the kitchen, she loves being active and outdoors to enjoy all the beautiful pacific northwest has to offer.
Rachel has been a part of the Sound Orthodontics team since 2007. Rachel loves working with patients by helping them with their financial and insurance needs. Her passion is traveling the world feel free to pick her brain if you love to do the same!
Sarah and her husband moved to Washington from the southern Indiana/Louisville, Kentucky area in 2016. She has worked in the medical field for 16 years with 8 of those years as a surgical assistant in dermatology. It was an accident that she took the interview with Sound Ortho, but was greeted by the most awesome employees! Sarah took the job without orthodontic experience because she wanted to be a part of this special team. Sarah is always happy to help, get to know her, and you may hear her southern accent.
Maria has an extensive background in customer service, but is newer to the orthodontic field, and she is excited to join the Sound Orthodontic Team. Maria has always enjoyed meeting new people and learning about their lives and backgrounds. Maria loves to travel, and is always preparing for her next big adventure. Maria enjoys cooking the local cuisine whether national, or international.
Erin has been in the orthodontic field since 2007 and can do just about every role in the orthodontic office. Erin loves watching a patients confidence grow through their smile transformation. When she is not at work, you can find her in her kitchen creating new recipes for her husband and two daughters.
Jessica has been in the dental field since 2005. She recently made the switch to the specialty of orthodontics when she joined the Sound Orthodontics team. Jessica is passionate about patient care and loves getting to know her patients and their families. Outside of work, Jess enjoys traveling, spending time with her kids, and going to all of their games.
Sienna is a former patient of Sound Orthodontics and loves that she can share her experience with patients. As a treatment coordinator she helps guide our patients through their first visit to our office. Sienna helps show our patients what to expect during their orthodontic treatment as well as explain financials and orthodontic insurance benefits. When Sienna is not working she enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
Norma has been in the orthodontic field since 1992 and part of our practice since 1996. Making patients as comfortable as possible is her top priority. Norma loves to go camping, boating, and travel. Norma also loves her little dog, Sherman.
Bridgetts been working in the dental field for decades but transitioned to the orthodontic field by joining our team in 2015. Bridgett enjoys spending time with her husband and three kids traveling and being active outdoors.
Jasmine is relatively new to the Orthodontic field. Outside of work Jasmine is a professional cake decorator and owner of Jasmine Allyssa Cakery, a business she has run out of her home since 2013. Novelty cakes and cheesecake are her specialty!
Originally from Lake Chelan, Jenny is relatively new to the orthodontic field. Although she had previous training as a dental assistant, she initially joined the Sound Orthodontics family as a nanny for the doctors two young children. Outside of work Jenny enjoys spending time with her family and friends and her small dog, Bruno.
Born and raised in Seattle, Vanessa has been a dental assistant since 2016, and absolutely loves working in orthodontics. When she is not working, you can find her on an outdoor adventure with her boyfriend and their son.
Areveyi completed her dental assistant program in 2008 but is newer to the orthodontic field. She has worked in both medical and dental offices and is passionate about the care she provides her patients and loves getting to know new families. Outside of work, Areveyi enjoys spending time hiking and exploring new places with her children and family.
Shannon graduated from Central Washington University in 2016 with a bachelors degree in psychology and human resources but quickly realized changed her career path and jumped into the dental field. She has been working in orthodontics since 2017 and has performed nearly every role in the orthodontic office. Shannon loves the outdoors and spending time in Eastern Washington with her family.
Isabella was born and raised in Honduras, and moved to the United States in 2014. A background in customer service makes Isabella a perfect fit working with patients in the clinic, or scheduling patients at the front desk. Isabella loves to travel. She has traveled to ten countries in Central and South America and got engaged in Manchu Picchu. Now shes taken on exploring the Pacific Northwest with her fianc, and their dog, Milo.
