Dr. Minh Hoang grew up in Diamond Bar, CA. He graduated from Diamond Bar High School in 1990. He then moved to Minneapolis where he attended the University of Minnesota and obtained a dual Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry, Genetics, and Cell Biology. He earned a Scholarship to Wagner College and received a Master of Science in Bacteriology. He later attended New York University School of Dentistry and consequently obtained his D.D.S. degree. Upon graduation, he moved back to Minneapolis and accepted a position as a General Practice Resident at the University of Minnesota for one year. During the course of that year, he gained the experience of treating special needs and medically compromised patients in the operating room where he performed dental surgery. To escape the bitter cold, he relocated to sunny San Diego where he practiced as an associate for several years. He commuted to the Imperial Valley after being offered a position as the primary cosmetic dentist.
Dr. Minh Hoangs primary goal is to help under-privileged children by instilling education and values. At the University of Minnesota he received several grants geared in assisting these under-privileged communities. About 500 students attended the science programs he created for inner-city schools. He also brought high school students to the University, allowing them to grasp the Polymerase Chain Reaction of forensic DNA and experiments in microbiology. He was honored the Presidents Leadership Award for his efforts and dedication in furthering education in the inner cities. He is currently building a program Swing and a Smile to aid high school students in pursuing their college education.
Dr. Minh Hoangs passion outside of dentistry is Swing dancing/ Lindy Hop. While he was attending graduate and dental school, he became one of the first Asian Swing dance instructors. He performed with the Big Bad Voodoo Daddy in a tribute to Duke Ellington that was featured on American Movie Classics (AMC). He has performed in various venues in New York City including Irving Plaza and Lincoln Center. Due to his pursuit of dentistry he has declined several opportunities to perform around the world. His other hobbies include reading, working out, and just hanging out at the beach.

Do not trust this dental group. They mislead information and over charge. Dishonest and fraudulent . I WOULD NOT recommend this dentist/ dental group.

Sorrento Valley Dental Group was recommended to me by my husband when I was attempting to find a dentist in the San Diego area. If you're like me, and you have a fear of the dentist then I'd definitely recommend Sorrento Valley Dental Group to you. I hadn't been to the dentist in almost 3 years when I went here(I know-terrible!) because I had adored my previous dentist and was scared of finding a new one after moving to San Diego. I'm so glad I took the chance and went here. Obviously since I hadn't been in 3 years I needed work done. I needed a deep cleaning, a cavity filled, and the decay in my front teeth that my previous dentist had warned me about had worsened. Not the news that anyone wants to hear. Thankfully, the incredible staff at Sorrento kindly walked me through the next steps with Dr. Minh explaining everything along the way. The absolutely phenomenal Norma was able to perform my deep cleanings, and has me scheduled for my next cleaning session, my cavity was filled and crowns were placed on my decaying front teeth. This took time and multiple visits. The entire process my comfort was always a priority and whenever work was completed the team frequently reassessed my pain level to see if I required more numbing. It was as painless as I hoped it could be. My smile is now one that I am so happy with, and I have Sorrento Valley Dental Group to thank for that. If you are looking for a new dentist like I was, or on the fence about getting dental work done, I highly recommend Dr. Minh and his team at Sorrento Valley Dental Group.

HONESTLY this is the best Dentist office I have ever been to. Dr. Minh is INCREDIBLY KNOWLEDGEABLE! I have been here 2x and the customer service is definitely there. Dr. Minh always goes above and beyond for his patients. I honestly do not see myself ever switching my dentist care. Everyone in that office is super sweet and It just makes me feel like I'm at home. SCAMMERS! I went to this place for a year and a half and over that time I saw two different dentists. The first dentist I saw said I had two cavities that needed to be filled. I trusted them and got them both filled. Then the next time I got my X-Rays done I had a different dentist look at them, Dr. Lam. Dr. Lam tried to tell me that I had 7 cavities that needed to be filled! That sounded absolutely ridiculous since I haven't had many cavities my whole life and now at 26 I suddenly had 7 cavities that they somehow couldn't see in my X-Rays I did with them the year prior?! I got a second opinion with a different dentist and like I assumed I don't have any cavities! Do not trust them, they only care about money.

I have been coming to see Dr Minh and his wonderful family for close to 10yrs now. He is the best dentist that has been allowed to work on my teeth. The staff is always friendly with a warm welcome when you step in the front door. I couldn't be more happy to have the Sorrento Valley Dental Group as part of my family.

Friendly and professional. I always feel welcome and the work is top notch. I had a filling that was fast, painless, and my bite was normal afterwards, which I cannot say about all of my past dentists.

DO NOT GO TO THIS PLACE!! I was there for regular cleaning and they told me that I have a 'cavity' and need to be fixed. The doctor filled my 'cavity' and since then this tooth has become my nightmare. It hurts A LOT!! Even when I'm not chewing or drinking, the tooth just HURTS! I went back twice to adjust it and the last time I was there the doctor told me now I need a root canal and a crown?! WHAT?! My tooth was just fine if you left it alone! He told me the filling was close to the nerve and now my nerve is 'dying'. BUT I don't have a deep cavity!! Why are you drilling so deep? I went to other dentists to get a second opinion and they suggested it was caused by improper drilling and filling. DAMN IT!

I have been to many dentists throughout the years and this is the best dentist office I have ever been to. The Dentist is very friendly and has a great sense of humor. The girls in the office are also very friendly and sweet and the office is beautiful! This is the only dentist that I have ever remained faithful to in continuing my regular checkups and cleanings. The location is really convenient also since its close to work.

This is one of the best dentist office I've been to. The Dr. is very friendly and has a great sense of humor. But the office is also very friendly, clean and professional. They use state of the art equipment. I feel very comfortable with the Dr.'s professional knowledge. The location is convenient too.

Best Dental group ever. Needed an immediate response from a dental office on Saturday and low and behold these guys were open. Not only that their customer service and the main dentist became such a trustworthy group that they have become my dental office of choice.
