Dr. Juan Cobos was born in El Paso, Tx and raised in the El Paso/Sunland Park NM area.At a very early age, Dr. Cobos was fascinated with the idea of becoming a dentist.Having experienced a significant amount of dental and orthodontic work, Dr. Cobos was intrigued with how dental treatment was done.
After graduating high school, Dr. Cobos moved to Mexico to pursue his dream of becoming a dentist. In 2010, Dr. Cobos graduated from the University of Montemorelos with a degree in Dentistry. After graduating, he moved back to the United States and received his dental license after graduating with Honors from the Advance Standing Program at the University of Boston Henry M. Goldman School of Dental Medicine.
It was there that Dr. Cobos was trained in the placement of dental implants, digital dentistry, dental extraction, periodontal and prosthodontics treatment.I chose to come back to the area where the idea of becoming a dentist first sparked in me.I want to provide the community around me with the same dental care that inspired me to become a dentist in the first place. When Dr. Cobos isnt busy taking care of patients, he loves spending time with his wife and two little boys. They all enjoy taking advantage of the scenic outdoor life that New Mexico has to offer.
During his undergraduate studies at Dixie State College St. George and Utah State College,JoshEllisswas awarded the Dr. Barnum Research award and graduated Magna Cum Laude with a bachelors degree in Biology. Dr. Elliss then attended the University of Las Vegas School of Dental Medicine; he was also an extern at the prestigious Las Vegas Institute for Advanced Dental Studies, where he was exposed to modern cosmetic and occlusion techniques. Upon graduation from UNLV, he was awarded the Quintessence Award for his research during school and the Outstanding Student Award from the American Academy of Craniofacial Pain. After schooling, Dr. Ellis practiced in Dallas, Texas, prior to moving his family to Las Cruces.
Growing up in a small town next to Zions National Park in southern Utah, I cultivated a love for outdoors and hiking at an early age. I am grateful to now look out my window every day and see the beautiful Organ Mountains so close by. Las Cruces is a unique and diverse place and my family feels at home here.
Dr. Cory Thompson attended Arizona State University where he graduated Summa Cum Laude with a bachelors degree in Spanish. Dr. Thompson then went on to graduate from the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine out east where he loved the seasons but learned to appreciate the fact that you never have to shovel sunshine. At his familys request/urging, Dr. Thompson set out to practice in the desert southwest. After some time spent in Arizona, Las Cruces became home and he and his family have grown to love the area and the people.
There is a uniqueness about Las Cruces and Southern New Mexico that I really enjoy. I love the spectacular mountain views and White Sands National Park. This is a place that my family and I are excited to call home. I am looking forward to helping the people of Las Cruces with their dental needs and I am excited about the many wonderful options that we can provide for you.

Understanding that many people are anxious when they come to the dentist, he has also been certified to administer intravenous sedation to make his patients feel more comfortable. Dr. Akopyan is very passionate about dentistry and is excited about serving the Las Cruces community. He also plans to take time off from private practice each year to travel internationally and provide dental treatment to underserved communities.
I was raised on a dairy farm in southern Arizona by loving and supportive parents. They taught my multiple siblings and me many important life lessons, including hard work and the meaning of family and life. I love sports and participated in all that was available. In wrestling, I had opportunities to travel to several states, including Hawaii, and even internationally to Australia. School has always been important. I graduated from Benson Union High school as Salutatorian. After high school, I attended Arizona State University for a semester. I then served a two-year mission in the country of Croatia for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. My mission taught me to love and appreciate others different from myself and to love and appreciate the blessing given to me. I continued school at ASU, at this time, I met my talented and beautiful wife, and we were married between semesters. Two years later, we were blessed with a beautiful daughter. I graduated with honors with a degree in Child Development. I used this degree to teach kindergarten, and it is true that all you need to learn you can learn in kindergarten, mainly treating others how you want to be treated. I taught school for one year and then attended Dental School at The University of Colorado School of Dentistry, in Denver. I enjoyed school, made many lifetime friends, was blessed with another daughter, and graduated Sum Cum Laude.
After graduation, we moved to Carlsbad, NM, and I worked there as a dentist for 15 years and gained much knowledge and skill about dentistry. I worked a lot with children but did all types of dentistry. I watched my girls grow up and enjoyed watching them dance and cheer. I helped coach wrestling at the high school and coached high school cheer for a couple of years. As a family, we decided that it was time to move here to the Las Cruces area and are excited for the opportunities here for work, for my wife and myself, and school for my Daughter. We are expecting to love the area and make it our new home.
After being in the dental field for over 10 years, one of the best rewards is helping enhance our patients quality of life. When patients see their smiles restored, it not only improves their health but helps create smiles that boost their confidence and self-esteem!
Amantha enjoys spoiling her fur babies (1 cat and 2 pugs). She loves taking time to hike the beautiful local trails here with good friends and family. She also loves volunteering with the Big Brother and Big sister organization.
In this field I feel I am continuously learning something new! Everyday is a different experience, not one case is like the next, which is so exciting! I like being able to help patients get a treatment plan in place
The 14 years of experience in front office coordinator, I have come to love many aspects of this position. My favorite inspiration of this career is seeing patients smile after their procedure always puts a smile on my face especially with oor little smiles (kiddo patients).
When I had the opportunity to work in the dental industry over 4 years ago, I jumped and it was the best decision I have ever made! I have learned so much, and everyday I continue to have fun doing my job by greeting our happy patients!
I have many years of experience in the dental industry. I have worked in the front office as well as assisting the doctors during treatments and procedures. I enjoy assisting with our patients needs and want to make sure all their concerns are resolved.
I began my career with dentistry in 2015. I have come to love working in all positions that the dental field has to offer. Best part of the day is when a patient is walking out in confidence because we could enhance their smile.
To know that I can put a smile back on a patients face inspires me daily! Sometimes patients come in with fear from past dental experiences, and that I can make that fear go away is such a rewarding feeling of my position. All of this while working side by side with an amazing dentist makes me proud to be a dental assistant!
Each patient visit is unique, and I like getting to know so many different people! When a patient has had a not so great previous experience, it is always a great feeling when I am able to help them feel comfortable and ease their anxiety about their treatment.
When Annel isn't assisting patients and pursuing continuing education in the dental industry, she loves the outdoors.. hiking, camping and even though she enjoys a good day on the beach, nothing compares to the beauty of a New Mexico sunset!
I started my dental industry career over 3 years ago in orthodontics, oral surgery, pediatrics and endodontics, that experience has just strengthened my career here with this fast paced practice. I love being able to assist our patients with all their dental goals!
You won't miss seeing Baylee when you're here, she is the one with the infectious smile! In her free time she enjoys a great workout with weight lifting, and loves hunting and fishing! Baylee never turns down a good adventure!
When Brianna isn't helping our patients, you will most likely find her doing every kind of outdoor adventures! She loves reading a great book and will never turn down the opportunity to catch a 'Harry Potter' marathon!
I've been in the dentistry field close to a year and a half, during which have discovered I enjoy assisting the doctors with multiple different procedures. When a patient has had issues or struggled with their oral hygiene, it's so rewarding when they walk out with a confident smile, and we helped them achieve that !
When Antonio isn't helping the doctors and patients, he loves his second rewarding job of being a dog dad! They love to go for walks together! He also enjoys working on his car and always finds time to catch up on some old classic comic books.
For as long as i can remember I have wanted to be in the dental field! I have always found teeth very interesting, so becoming a dental hygienist was one of the best decisions I have ever made! My field of choice has allowed me to meet new and amazing people whom I've contributed to keeping their teeth healthing, and in some cases, regain their confidence through their smile!
When Patricia isn't helping to make a difference in our patients smiles, you will always find her outside! She loves nature and all it has to offer with hiking, traveling and camping, if its outdoors.. you name it, she will be there!
I have utilized my 20 plus years in the dental industry to share my passion for patient oral health and helping them achieve their smile goals while maintaining their overall oral health. My favorite part of my career is getting to spend one on one time with our patients!

Sonoma Family Dental staff have been pleasant and puntual with appointments with not only my visits, but my 3-year-old son. You are in and out of there. That said, appointments are not rushed, and the staff is wonderful. I have been very pleased with them since I started going here a few years ago.
