Dr. Sonja G Norris has been practicing dentistry for 26 years. Early on, her passion for children led her to open her own private practice to focus especially on children. Dr. Norris focuses her practice to children with comprehensive dental needs, severe anxieties, ADD, and ADHD. She is sensitive to children (as well as their parents) with special or unique circumstances. The conception of her office came from the love she has for children, with colorful themed rooms and movies over the chairs.
In 2010 Dr. Norris was the featured cover story in the Capital Area Womens LifeStyle Magazine. In the same year, she was interviewed with two other women dentists in the Lansing Business Monthly Magazine.
Dr. Norris graduated from Michigan State University with a Bachelor of Science in Medical Technology in 1988 and graduated from the University of Michigan Dental School with a Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 1992.
Dr. Norris has maintained privileges at two major hospitals, for the last 15 years, in Lansing where she has provided comprehensive treatment to over 6,000 children. Dr. Norris is a member of the American Dental Association, Michigan Dental Association, Central District Dental Society , American Dental Society of Anesthesiology; she is also an Affiliate member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, and holds Professional Memberships of Dental Surgery at McLaren Regional/Lansing and Sparrow Hospital of Lansing.

OUR SON HAD A VERY TRAUMATIC EXPERIENCE FROM DENTAL WORK PERFORMED BY DR NORRIS! On October 5th 2022 ,we took our son Antonio in for a dental procedure at Dr. Sonja Norris's , located in Grand Ledge MI. A year prior we were told that he needed 4 teeth fixed, which consisted of fillings and fixing a chipped tooth. Antonio had been referred to Dr.Norris in October 2021 ,because his dentist was worried about the way Antonio was handling having his teeth worked on and he did not want his experience to be traumatic. Throughout the year I had called several times to try and schedule his dental procedures, but I was always told that they were too busy to schedule him. An entire year had passed once they finally scheduled him. The morning of his procedure we were taken back to speak with the Anesthesiologist, who was super thorough about the anesthesia process. We then went back to the waiting room, after a little while a lady told us they were finishing up his x-rays. Another lady came out and told us that his procedure was going to be changing a little and that Dr. Norris would be putting a couple silver sterling caps on as well. After 3 hours of waiting in the waiting room, we were told we could go back to see him. Once he woke up a little, we took him home. An hour after being home, Antonio woke up screaming in pain! Inside his mouth were several caps!!! I called Dr. Norris's office and asked a staff member to tell me what had all been done to our 4 year old's teeth. She told me that Dr. Norris had put 11 CAPS, 2 PULPOTOMIES, AND A FILING in his teeth!!! I told her that we NEVER would've agreed to doing all of that work at one time, had she given full disclosure of what she was going to do!! Our son's pain was so intense that Motrin and Tylenol were not touching it! When I called to speak with Dr. Norris about his pain, I was told she was unavailable to speak because she was on the road driving. That night we had to take our son to the ER. The doctor at the hospital prescribed our 4 year old son NORCO! The doctor stated " I usually wouldn't prescribe a narcotic to a 4 year old child but he's in that much pain that that is what he needs"!! He also stated " this is an extreme amount of work to be done on a child's teeth" We followed up with his original dentist, who stated " this is not just an extreme amount of work, this is an insane amount of work to be done all at once ,and without full disclosure"!! This was supposed to be the least traumatic experience for our child, but instead it was the most traumatic! Our hearts broke for him during this.

Great dentist, but awful front office staff. I removed my son as a patient in 2018 due to the lack of communication with insurance and professionalism when communicating regarding appointments and insurance coverage.

I have 7 kids so getting them all into the dentist every 6 months is a process. They've worked well with me to schedule the kids together when possible to lighten my trips. Yesterday I brought 2 for appts, and we were in and out within 45 minutes which made my life in the waiting room with my youngest 3 kids manageable. I appreciate them staying close to schedule and not having long wait times.

ZERO STARS These people are supposed to specialize in Pediatrics and children which is why I was sent there in the first place. I have an emotionally impaired child that has been going to them for 9 years they decided today they couldn't handle her and kicked us out of the office after my family being a patients for 14 years. They scheduled her with somebody that was not her dentist that she's never seen before and because of her anxiety that they're aware of they punished us. The straw that broke the camel's back.....My daughter asked the title of the movie they put on, they refused to tell her. So who's being uncooperative?

From the colorful rooms to the TVs on the ceiling, this office was designed for KiDS! I would definitely recommend this office to friends and family!!! They are all so knowledgeable and so gentle with kids. They go out of their way to make the kids feel comfortable!

Billing is absolutely messed up. Our EOB they gave us said one thing. When they billed it all was wrong. Really let us down.

Refused to listen or work with us. My kid needed work and we wanted to do it in two parts. She said all the work at once or she wouldn't do anything at all.. We are the customers, that's my insurance/money paying for it and my child!!! Thankfully our normal dentist got him right in and agreed that all at once would be a lot. We will not be coming back and I would avoid them.

I'd give zero if I could. Dr. Norris herself is great, the office staff not so much. Had massive problems getting our son's dental work done, it took about 8 months. We finally jumped through the hoops and got everything approved and his dental work was done and after we got a bill for over two thousand dollars. We like Dr. Norris but won't be going back. One of the office ladies is quite rude and dealing with her was really difficult.

Highly highly recommend Dr. Norris. My little one had a dental emergency, and not only did Dr. Norris go above and beyond to care for my little one, but she is great with parents. Her office is beautiful, and her entire staff are amazing. From first phone call for leaving the office, it was a great experience. If you are looking for a pediatric dentist who can treat your child in a friendly atmosphere..look no further!

I had all 4 of my kids in this dentist my oldest needed a tooth pull they sent me to an autistic Dentist instead of orthodontist I called them back and they closed all my kids files and told me not to come back very disappointed with how they handled my others kids also

We had a great experience. The staff is friendly and Dr. Norris was amazing with the kids, just as we expected. She explained some teeth-and-gum health related the problems and solutions, answering all of our questions (and we had a lot of them). Top marks. 100% Recommended.
