Dr. Messina, originally from Brazil, has been living in central MA (Hudson) for over 15 years. Her husband has lived here his entire life. As a result, her extended family and friends are from Shrewsbury directly, or very close by in neighboring towns.
She has practiced dentistry for over 5 years right in the heart of Shrewsbury, MA, which is why, when she decided to open Songbird, Shrewsbury was the most logical choice for the location. Dr. Messina is from Brazil, but she is comfortable calling Massachusetts her home away from home.
Dr. Luciana Petto Messina (the c is pronounced like an s) was born in Brazil where she graduated from Pontifical Catholic University with a dental degree and practiced all levels of dentistry for several years. She was deeply involved with organizations that provided dental care to under served communities. She also volunteered as a speaker at several continuing education institutions. While attending several education courses in the United States, Dr. Messina met the man that would become her husband. She moved to Massachusetts in 2002 and because of her passion for dentistry and her desire to continue practicing she went on to receive her D.D.S. degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago.
During her time at UIC, Dr. Messina was unanimously chosen to be the recipient of two awards, one for Outstanding Clinical Performance and another for Commitment to Dentistry. Dr. Messina returned to practice dentistry in Massachusetts and after a few years she joined a dental practice in Shrewsbury where she practiced for five years. In 2016 Dr. Messina decided to establish her own dental practice and is as committed as ever to offering her patients in Shrewsbury, MA and the surrounding communities, the dental care they have come to expect from her. Dr. Messina has completed post-doctoral courses in aesthetic and implant dentistry, periodontics, endodontics, and is consistently attending continuing education courses.She is currently a member of the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the Massachusetts Dental Society, and the Worcester District Dental Society.

I am new to Songbird Dental and I am really impressed. It is very clean and the staff is very professional. Dr. Messina put in a new crown (my 7th or 8th) and it was by far the easiest and most comfortable crown I gotten. I would give Tammy, Caitlin and Dr. Messina 7 stars for their work. I love Songbird Dental.

I am new to Songbird Dental and I am really impressed. It is very clean and the staff is very professional. Best dentist you'll ever find! Dr. Messina is a fantastic dentist. She is knowledgeable and has a wonderful bedside manner. I've been seeing her for many years and she's been wonderful. I've had many tooth problems and she's been so helpful. I suffer from anxiety and she always makes me feel Calm. Marie, the hygienist is also great! Happy and smiling all the time. It's an upbeat, friendly office and they know what they're doing. My brother is so afraid of the dentist but he has no problems going to songbird. They are awesome with him. Couldn't recommend any dentist, hygienist or support staff better. Would give them 100 stars if I could!

I have been to different Dental Practices in the course of my life based on moving from one geographical location to another. Mystic, CT. Honolulu, HI and many places in between. I found myself in the Worcester, MA area for reasons of employment. Needing a local Doctor of Dentistry once again presented itself to me. One day I accidentally opened the door to Songbird Dental in Shrewsbury, MA. I was looking for another Office and opened their door. Once I realized that I then apologized for having done so. Before I could leave the lady behind the front desk said; "If you have a need for a Dentist, we are here for you." She handed me a business card and I then departed. I researched the ratings on Songbird Dental and immediately made my first appointment. I was not to be disappointed! Professional, Intelligent and Kind are the first three words that I think of when I left that visit and every on since. This is more about a teeth cleaning . . . This is about a full service Dental Practice that combines Intelligence, Professionalism, Kindness and your Dental Health. For my part I required extensive dental work. I was given all possible options, not pressured and after making a plan with Dr. Massina . . . I moved ahead with my plan. Now I am all smiles as I have perfect teeth again! I have recommended Songbird Dental to my family, friends, co-workers and neighbors . . . Now I recommend them to you.

Oh my goodness! Talk about TOP NOTCH quality Service. These guys are amazing. I did my research and read all their online reviews before going in, I was cautiously optimistic going in on day one, and boy was I blown away, from the receptionist, the hygienist, and most importantly Dr. Messina (Dentist), they all delivered. I walked away vowing to refer all my friends and family to them. These guys are the real deal, don't hesitate to go see them! You will leave there with a happy smile, I can guarantee you that!

Upon my first call to Songbird inquiring for a new dentist for a broken tooth, Susan answered all of my questions and immediately put me at ease. Dr. Messina and her team are a team of professionals that eased all of my anxieties and fears of the dentist. The confidence that Dr Messina showed me with her dental techniques to fix my tooth were exceptional. Everything was thoroughly explained in detail to fix my tooth, including the insurance paperwork. The office is very inviting, beautifully decorated with bird accents. My first visit from start to finish was beyond my expectations and will recommend Songbird Dental to everyone I know.

My endodontist recommended Dr Messina when I was looking for a new dentist. She is very good at her craft and very caring. I have had a lot of bad dentist but I would recommend Dr Messina and her entire staff - all are very friendly and professional. It's a pleasure going there!

I chose Songbird dental based on the reviews and I was not disappointed! You can tell that every member of the staff enjoys their job and their professionalism, attention to detail, and skill was comforting and totally put me at ease!
