She believes endodontic care is essential as it provides patients with effective, efficient, and quick results for cases that require immediate attention.
Dr. Sondra Avant is an outstanding endodontist who has been Board Certified by the American Board of Endodontists. She graduated from the University of Florida and is a true Gator. She earned her dental degree from UNC Chapel Hill and her Masters degree from the University of Louisville. She has practiced endodontics for more than 20 years in Volusia county. She has treated more than 35,000 patients with gentle care and expertise in her endodontic career. She has been an Associate Professor of Endodontics and is a published author in the field of Radiology.
Dr. Avant believes in community and participates in several outreach charities such as the Junior League of Daytona Beach, the Westside Wonder Women, and her own community service project, Dentistry with a heart! which arranges a day of free dental care for more than 100 low income and indigent people once a year. She is active in her church and sings competitively on an international level. Her children and husband are the loves of her life.
Hello, I am Kristy Barber, Office Manager for Dr. Avant. I joined the dental field as a teenager, and have nearly 30 years of experience. I hold a BS in Healthcare Administration, am an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant and received a fellowship from the American Association of Dental Office Managers. I am a lifetime member of AADOM (American Association of Dental Office Managers) and SCN (Speaking & Consulting Network).
In my spare time enjoy spending time with my husband, Stephen, and three children (Michael-24, Stephanie-19 & Elizabeth-15), attending the theater, reading, shopping, travel, decorating, event planning, attending continuing education courses and playing with my Grand Pup, Burberry.

I would like to thank Dr Sondra Avant for caring for my 14 year's old daughter Amira I can hear them talking to her with care to make her feel comfortable they asked her if she wants to listen to a song Heather was so friendly and professional it was a great experience with Dr Sondra Avant again thank you !

I highly recommend this office if you need a root canal. Going with high anxiety, trouble with sinus history and a bad gag reflex the entire staff and Dr Avant explained every detail of I V Sedation to me and insured me I would be fine. I must say this was the best experience I have ever had at dental office. Thank you to all the staff

This was the best dental experience I have ever had. I was anxious before my root canal as I have never had one. Honestly, it was painless, done quickly and thoroughly. Every step was explained to me and I felt so comfortable. I only ever want to come here, I completely recommend. Thank you to the whole staff for making my visit so great, I never thought anything dental related could ever be enjoyable, I am so grateful!!!

I went for a root cancel & Dr Avant- had such a calming voice that she totally got rid of my stress. They were all very professional and didn't even seem like I was in the dentist chair. I would highly recommend them! Great team!!! Barinda B

Dr Avant is absolutely the best! She has the best bedside manner, and she exceeded my expectations. She made me feel at ease and she answered all of my questions, even if they were crazy ones. She explained everything thoroughly and even has the best sense of humor. I love her patience and honesty and will definitely be back once cleared for surgery!

I am very happy to have been referred to Dr Avant for a root canal. Dr Avant was professional and put me at ease about the surgery. Heather was the first person that I met in the office and she was fantastic. Very positive. She assisted with Dr Avant. Heather followed up the next morning to make sure the recovery process was going well. I would recommend them to everyone in need of their expertise!

I can't say that going to an endodontist should be pleasurable, but, having been a patient of Dr. Avant since moving here almost 4 years ago, I have never experienced anyyhing but minor pain during or after appointments. She and her Staff-especially Heather, have always proven to be professional, and at the same time compassionate and accomodating.

Very non professional. Did root canal. Very noisy place and alot of lafter going on ..the girls at front desk was making fun of customers while I was sitting at waiting room..they said there was going to call after root canal..they never did I was in so much pain and swelling..they said they would order 650 milligrams of motion to my pharmacy..they never did I even checked 2 days later..if you want to be a joke in the office and dr that don't care..feel free to go there

I was scheduled for a root canal Dr Advant's office called me to tell me they had a cancelation I was able to get in earlier. Dr Advant and her staff are by far the best. I highly recommend them. Her office is very clean and I just love her and her staff.

This office and it's employees are absolutely INCREDIBLE! I had a horrible experience at a different office before I came to them and I was scared out of my mind to even make an appointment. But from the moment I had them on the phone until the point where I left the office, Heather, Emily & Dr Avant were AMAZING and made me feel soooo comfortable. I had ridiculous anxiety upon arriving, it was literally gone as soon as I walked in the door, the atmosphere is so soothing, the office itself is immaculately clean, and the entire staff is a joy to be around! I am SO thrilled I found this place to do my root canal, ! If I could give them more than 5 stars I would ! thank you ladies for completely wiping out my dentist hatred!

What an amazing place! Dr. Avant and Heather made my experience as comfortable and easy as possible. I have had several bad experiences with dentist in the past but Dr. Avant was great! I would highly recommend her! I can not thank them enough!

Just had my first root canal EVER there and they made it the most comfortable experience I could have had. They played music for me and everything and the procedure was done relatively quick, and essentially painless. I highly recommend this place. Everybody was very clear and knowledgeable on what they were doing. Thank you Avant Endo, I finally can eat again! I almost can't wait to go back for my 2nd appointment.

Horrible communication and experience. They told us that my fiance would get implant and root canal done all in one. Well that didn't happened! Doctor never said it was a process. They put him under and when he woke up they told us they didn't do implant and they didn't order him pain medicine. Now he has to be in major pain over night and there emergency line dose not work. When I press 2 the phone hangs up. We will never come back here.

I called this office to try schedule a root canal and thankfully due to a cancellation and I was able to get an appointment the next day. I was in and out in less than 2 hours. As someone whom does not like dental work or pain this was one of the best experiences I have had. The dentist and her staff were so very pleasant and comforting through the entire process. I felt at ease through the whole procedure. If you ever have complications do not hesitate to contact Avant Endo.
