DR. SONA TACVORIAN is an educator as well as a practitioner. Sona is a part-time Assistant Clinical Professor in the Department of Restorative Dentistry at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. She enjoys teaching dental students and sharing her knowledge as much as treating her patients. She has been in practice for26 years and feels there is nothing more rewarding than a patients smile at the end of a treatment. Her warmth and compassion as well as her expert skills endear her to her patients.Dr. Tacvorian was born in Bucharest, Romania and holds a doctorate degree from the Institute of Medicine and Stomatology inBucharest as well as a doctorate degree, DMD from Boston University Goldman School of Graduate Dentistry.
Dr. Tacvorian is a member of the American Dental Association (ADA), the Massachusetts Dental Society, the Massachusetts Association of Women Dentists, the American Academy of Osseointegration (AO), and the Armenian American Dental Association. She is active in these associations and volunteers her dental services in the Give Kids A Smile Campaign that provides dental treatment free of charge to economically challenged children.
GLENDAis our new dental assistant. It took 4 months to find a replacement for Maria, but in August of 2017 we finally found Glenda. We are very happy to welcome Glenda into our office. She brings a lot of care and compassion, always with a smile on her face. She has been a dental assistantsince 2011. Glenda adapted very quickly to our office and makes everyone feel very comfortable .

As a parent, one of your most important responsibilities is to teach your children good health habits. It can be difficult to encourage your kids to make healthy choices each day, so here are a few things that you can do to make it easier to teach your kids about dental health:
It goes without saying that young children mimic their parents throughout the day. If the child sees you brushing and flossing your teeth, then they will be more interested in doing it as well. Make sure to brush your teeth frequently and let your child join in at the same time. If your children are young, they will have fun brushing their teeth together.
As the child grows older, you can have conversations with them about the reasons why they need to brush and floss on a regular basis. Simply telling them to brush their teeth without explaining why will make it harder for the child to obey. Once children understand that brushing their teeth helps to avoid tooth decay, then they are more likely to be consistent with the habit in order to avoid cavities. Have a discussion with your child when the topic comes up, and talk with them on a level that they can understand.
The only way for your child to learn the best brushing and flossing methods is if you show them what to do. If needed, provide them with easy tools to use, such as flossing sticks to make it easy to reach the teeth in the back of the mouth.
Instead of making it a daily chore, look for ways that you can make it fun for the child to brush their teeth. For example, take them to the store and let them pick out a fun toothbrush. Also, consider putting a sticker chart on the bathroom mirror, and let them put on a sticker every time they brush their teeth. You can offer the incentive to buy a new toothbrush when the sticker chart is full, because they will need to have their toothbrush replaced at that point anyway.

I needed a new dentist during the pandemic I felt safe going to. Dr. T's office was spotless clean and has medical grade air purifiers around every corner. I saw her for my mouth guard for my TMJ and adjustments as my mouth settled into it. She's very knowledgeable, compassionate, and made me feel welcome every time I visited.

So I have been nervous to go back to the dentist for a while, and recently had my arm twisted by the cracking of a filling. I contacted Dr. Tacvorian and she made it a point to see me as soon as she was able. I have always had a fear of the dentist, from prior bad experiences from experiencing a lot of pain, to just doing a bad job. Dr. Tacvorian is the epitome of what I WISH I had in a dentist not only growing up as a kid, but now into adulthood as well. She is kind, caring, and made it a completely pain free experience. She explains things in detail, and gives every option possible. Her office goes above and beyond to make sure you feel COVID-safe as well. There are cleaning stations, big air purifiers every few feet in the office, and they open each and every tool in front of your eyes for you to see. I would highly recommend Dr. Tacvorian for any of your current or future dentistry needs.

Just had 3 crowns placed on my front teeth and wow what a great match! She is a perfectionist with a keen eye for what looks natural. Super clean and friendly office too!

Dr. Tacvorian's practice has been the first dentist that didn't cause me pain during regular cleanings. My family has been patients for the past 9 years and we all had a great experience. My first experience with Dr. Tacvorian came when I get a bad toothache while I was still getting over pneumonia, so I was worried a dentist would not want to see me, but Dr. Tacvorian was wonderful and took care of me. Over the years we've had cleanings and fillings there, and gotten good referrals for more involved procedures (e.g. root canals and braces for our daughter). One of the dental tools that I find problematic is the cleaning jet that squirts a mixture of water and cleaning solution. These machines shoot cold water which I'm sensitive too. Dr. Tacvorian's office was able to avoid the use of this tool for me, and it made all the difference.
