I am a proud graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, where I earned my Doctorate of Dental Medicine. I continued my dental training at Rutgers University for an additional three years toobtainmy specialty degree in orthodontics and dentofacial orthopedics, and a Master of Dental Science for my research in the field of orthodontics. Iachieved the highest certification of the orthodontic profession by becoming a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics in 2014.
I am an active member of the American Association of Orthodontists, the American Dental Association, the MiddleAtlantic Association of Orthodontists, and New Jersey Association of Orthodontists. I am proud to offer the most cutting-edge techniques and digital technology in the orthodontic field, including iTero digital scanning, accelerated orthodontics, lingual braces, and Invisalign.
I am a native of Staten Island and currently live in Hillsborough with my wife Natasha. She is a nurse practitioner who specializes in womens health. We met in Philadelphia when we were both studying at the University of Pennsylvania. We enjoy traveling, spending time with family, and playing with our two cats, Eva and Lola. We are thrilled to have welcomed our third child, baby Ryan Peterman, on August 20th, 2020! Robbie and Charlotte are loving being a big brother and sister!

I am responsible for all clinical activities in the office, including making retainers, taking X-rays, keeping track of inventory, and most importantly, making sure our patients are having a great experience. I have a dental radiology license, and continue to learn the most up-to-date advances in dental technology as Dr. Peterman introduces them into our office.
We strive to make our patients and parents feel special right from the first phone call. Our highly experienced staff is very informative and walks you right through your first experience at the complimentary clinical examination.
Once you arrive, Dr. Peterman and our clinical staff take over to continue that warm and friendly experience. There is no pressure to make any quick decisions here. We often get compliments from people on what a great experience they had right from the start!

We always keep up on the latest techniques to keep our office current on new technology. Our fully digital office features state-of-the-art iTero digital impressions and digital X-rays. Digital technology allows you to experience a visit that is stress-free and relaxing. As an impression-less office, our iTero digital scanner obtains your records, allows you to view a digital model of your teeth on screen, and even simulates your smile outcome!
What currently sets us apart from other orthodontic offices in the area is that we routinely applyfixed bonded lingual retainers forour patients after they have finished with their active orthodontic treatment.
Patients today are now looking for retention options that are invisible and comfortable. The prevention of relapse of crowding, rotations, or spacing in the maxillary and mandibular anterior segments following orthodontic treatment often necessitates long-term retention. The fixed retainers are bonded to the backsides of the upper and lower front teeth. They are a perfect option for all our patients!

I have just started my treatment with braces at this location. so far it's been a great experience. I love Dr. Peterman he is very gentle with the procedure and explains everything in detail and made me so comfortable as I was little nervous in the beginning. The entire staff is amazing, they are so welcoming and feels so good to be here. Usually I don't like going to Dr. Office but I love coming here. they always have some fun games to play and also they decorate the office with seasonal themes and I feel that is so cool. Overall my experience here has been awesome and I have already recommended so many of my friends.

Awesome staff, Dr. Peterman made sure my braces were off in time for prom and even came in early to get the off in time. Everyone was very helpful and I had a great 2 yrs. with Somerset ortho!

I would refer to Dr. Peterman over and over again. From the very beginning, he explained everything in great detail. He is friendly, understanding, and is very trustworthy. He wants nothing more than for his patients to be happy. Both offices are very clean, and the staff is always welcoming, friendly, & professional.

Staff was amazing and the location was well-functioning with immense quality and service. After removing my braces, I felt extremely confident in myself and happy with the results. This is all due to the staff and Dr.P who helped with the progress of my results. I cannot recommend this location enough, as it transformed me into someone who has such confidence in their smile! I'm very happy with the end result of the orthodontic work that Somerset Orthodontic Specialists provided for my daughter. All visits were handled professionallly and efficiently, even with the COVID-19 disruptions everyone has had to deal with for the past 2 years this office kept things moving along during the course of treatment. The office handled everything in a safe and effective manner that resulted in putting a beautiful smile on my daughter. I highly recommend this practice for anyone considering orthodontic treatment for their kids.

I never post reviews but feel compelled to write about the wonderful experience I've had with Dr. Peterman and his staff over the past year at the Hillsborough location. Dr. Peterman is such a nice person, the staff is always friendly, and the office is always clean. I am delighted with the work that he has done so far with my teeth and would highly recommend him to anyone I know!

I had braces for two years and everyone working here was extremely friendly and accommodating. I thought it would be weird getting braces later than most teens, but Dr. Peterman was really nice about everything and addressed my wants. I went to other consultations and they told me I'd needed to get upwards of 4 teeth pulled, and charged ridiculous prices. Dr. Peterman went with a different course of treatment and I ended up needing 0 pulled, which is amazing. Highly recommend!

Dr. Peterman's team at Somerset Orthodontics treats their patients well and they are organized. Rarely a wait when you arrive for scheduled appointments. They also have an incentive plan for kids to do their part to maintain their braces and teeth. 12/2020 UPDATE: My daughter's braces are finally off, and she is thrilled. The removal process went smoothly and Dr. Peterman even had a little ceremony afterwards. A big milestone!

From start to finish, and every step in between, Dr. Peterman and the staff at Somerset Orthodontic Specialists provided fantastic service/support through our daughter's extensive orthodontic journey. At each phase of the process, Dr. Peterman was there to answer our questions and provide necessary guidance. When it came time to coordinate with a jaw surgeon, Dr. Peterman was able to provide excellent recommendations and worked seamlessly with the surgeon in preparation for and following the surgery. Now that our daughter has her braces off, we are definitely happy with our decision to work with Dr. Peterman. If we ever had any future orthodontic needs, we would absolutely use him again and would highly recommend him to others as well!

Very professional and caring staff. Dr Peterman was great in explaining details. My son Michael was nervous about getting braces but the whole experience for him was awesome. The office is very clean and everything seems to be in the right place. Doctor Peterman listens and takes care of your needs. The staff is amazing, especially Kilsy, who always does the extra mile to make you feel like the most important patient in the world! Overall it was a great experience!
