Originally from Seattle, Dr. Ash is a graduate of the University of Washington and the University of Southern California School of Dentistry. Though a general dentist, he completed a one-year Advanced Education in General Dentistry residency and relishes all aspects of dentistry, especially root canals and extractions. Dont be surprised to hear constant joking and laughing around the office as he strives to keep the dental environment fun and light. Dr. Ash believes everyone deserves a healthy and happy smile, providing that is his number one goal. He has been involved in many charitable dental organizations, having traveled to Costa Rica, Fiji, Belize, Haiti, and Mexico (several times) on dental volunteer trips. He looks forward to helping you achieve your dental goals.
The team at Somerset Family Dentistry believe in the importance of preventative care. We focus on keeping patients in good oral health so that they can live a full, healthy, and enjoyable life that is free from oral pain. This starts by educating our patients on what they can do to stay healthy at home. In our family dentist office we recommend that patients eat a healthy diet that consists of green leafy vegetables, lean protein, nuts, dairy products, and crunchy fruits and veggies. Eating these foods along with drinking water can help to keep teeth healthy and make them stronger. By simultaneously reducing sugar intake, patients can also reduce their risk of cavities.
It is also important to brush and floss throughout the day. Instead of waiting for bedtime to brush teeth, carry a small toothbrush and use it after meals and snacks. This makes it possible to remove sugar and bacteria from the teeth and gums before it has the opportunity to turn into acid that can attack the teeth. This preventative step can greatly reduce a persons' risk of getting a cavity or gum disease. We understand the importance of taking these steps at home and will spend the time necessary to educate and inform patients so that they can stay healthy overall. Education, after all, is essential for living a long and healthy life.

A. Primary, or 'baby,' teeth are important for many reasons. Not only do they help children speak clearly and chew naturally, they also aid in forming a path that permanent teeth can follow when they are ready to come in.
A. First, rinse the irritated area with warm salt water and place a cold compress on the face if it is swollen. Give the child acetaminophen for any pain, rather than placing aspirin on the teeth or gums. Finally, see a dentist as soon as possible.
A. Sealants work by filling in the crevasses on the chewing surfaces of the teeth. This shuts out food particles that could get caught in the teeth, causing cavities. The application is fast and comfortable and can effectively protect teeth for many years.
A. Have your family dentist evaluate the fluoride level of your child's primary source of drinking water. Definitely don't waste your money here . I'm still waiting on ALL of my medical records from this dentist. Don't let their nice attitudes fool you. They fake everything.

Updated Post General Manager Nancy Baeza did accommodate my daughter to correct the problem. My daughter was put in a room then totally ignored while staff ate cookies and left her waiting.. Double charged. Charged my daughter and her insurance company. Ashley , the supposed manager was very unprofessional. Insurance company made 3 attempts to call office . phone just rang. Worst experience ever. Awaiting call from district manager. Today' s experience was horrible! It's been 4 weeks now and still haven't totally resolved problem. Working with General Manager Nancy Baeza to resolve this issue.

I was long overdue for a dentist visit. Every person I came in contact with at Somerset Family Dentistry was kind and informative, which really calmed my nerves. I got Xrays taken and a teeth cleaning. During the entire process their staff talked me through everything before starting and even chit chatted with me about life. I felt important during my visit, instead of just another patient. I will definitely continue getting my teeth care here! Edit: This dentist continues to reach out to us to schedule appointments when we have explained we moved from the area.

Had an implant done here and they are a very talented lovely office I came in with a missing front tooth and left with a perfect implant new smile! Well..the office was very clean and had very pretty decor. The girl at the front desk was super welcoming and friendly and so was the assistant that took my x rays. My only problem with this place is that they tried to overcharge me for a simple cleaning because I needed light scaling. I have medi-cal and have never paid out of pocket for a lightscale, it has always been included in the prophy billout. They said they were limited providers with medi-cal which I get but in what world is a prophy light scale with irrigation $355? Supposedly with "discount" it came out to 195 - but I'm sure that was the original fee and just threw in that it was a discount to make it sound nice. I get you have to upsell to make the office money but that doesn't sound fair. I have experience in dental so to me it sounds outrageous but someone unsuspecting and naive might fall for that so not cool. Other than that, everyone was very professional and the office had a nice atmosphere which is why I'm rating 4 stars- though I won't be going back.

These people are great, took my insurance and are very patient with me because I'm a big baby at the dentist. Highly recommend. Very satisfied with my dental treatment very precise and very thorough. Love all the staff they are very sweet. Doctor is very gentle and nice. Good music to listen to while getting my work done.

I was desperately searching for a dental provider when I was referred to Somerset Dental here in Bellflower. What a great service provided by the team here. I have had great attention from my dentist, and when I had a billing with my insurance, Ashely responded by listening to me and resolving the situation. Great Team, Great Service, I love it here!

I was reading alot of good comments about this place but I guess I just had a bad experience. Called them up asking if I can get a tooth pulled out. They said yes, I went the same day to only them taking x-rays and telling me they came to it. I feel like they did that because it was pretty close to closing time. Now I'm sitting here with pain in my mouth. Also thanks for that nurse lady who seems frustrated at her job. Maybe do something else if you don't like where your working at.

Had an amazing experience here at Somerset Dentistry... Dr Fernandez was so kind and gently I would highly recommend her to anyone. All of my dental needs were taken care of by the office manager Ashley and Lourdes made sure I was taken care of at all times. I will be back for my next check up and I'm glad I found my new dental home!
