Dr. Kyle Downum was born and raised in the Ozark Hills of Northeastern Oklahoma. Primitive camping, hunting, and fishing were part of his everyday life. When Dr. Downum was not doing something in the outdoors he was busy competing in science fairs, showing cattle with the FFA, taking karate classes, or volunteering in the community, all while playing high school sports.

Dr. Downum has always been guided by a moral compass instilled in him by practicing his faith. Consequently, after high school Dr. Downum promptly moved to South Korea to volunteer two years of missionary and community of service. Following his two years in South Korea Dr. Downum earned his bachelors degree in biology at Northeastern State University in Tahlequah, Oklahoma. While going to school in Tahlequah Dr. Downum started his family with the love of his life, Kristen.

After earning his bachelors degree Dr. Downum continued his education at Creighton University School of Dentistry in Omaha, Nebraska. While attending Creighton University Dr. Downum and Kristen continued to make additions to their family which includes five children. After graduating dental school, the Downum family moved back to the Ozarks in Missouri and Oklahoma where Dr. Downum began his professional career. He worked for 2.5 years at the Native Health Clinics in Oklahoma with the best dentists around.

Dr. Downum has been practicing in Alaska since 2018 and is proud to serve the community through Soldotna Dental Clinic. Soldotna Dental clinic was started in 1978 by Dr. Dan Pitts and Dr. Ronald Martinelli and has a legacy of unsurpassed care with a family like environment. Dr. Downum feels privileged to have worked with and to have learned from some of the best dental providers in Alaska. He continues the legacy of providing the best care around while maintaining that family like environment that gives the Kenai Peninsula its charm. When he is not at the clinic, he may be found volunteering at church, practicing Jiu jitsu at Redemption, or spending time with his family. With the combined experience and training of his mentors combined with his recent cutting-edge training in modern dentistry you are in good hands with Dr. Downum. He and his friendly staff are eager to serve you and your family.

Dr. Thorn Simnitt has been practicing dentistry on the Peninsula since 2018. He completed his Bachelors degree at Brigham Young University, and his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the Medical University of South Carolina, where he was class president and an executive leader in the Universitys chapter of the Academy of General Dentistry.

Prior to dental school, he spent two years in full time missionary service in Southern Florida and has since performed dental missionary work treating underserved populations in the Philippines and South Carolina. He loves expanding his skills and knowledge through continuing education and has received additional training in oral surgery, implant dentistry and orthodontics.

Dr. Simnitts wife, JoAnna, is a registered nurse, and they and their two girls live in Soldotna. When hes not helping patients with their oral health, Dr. Simnitt enjoys the great outdoors, hunting, fishing, serving at church, and spending time with his girls.
