Dr. Jiwon received his education from the University of Michigan School of Dentistry, the #1 dental school in the United States (QS ranking 2021). He was also elected as his clinic president due to his strong clinical and interpersonal skills. With a concrete foundation from the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA), he arrives at Snohomish Family Dentistry with impeccable credentials.
He was raised in Brussels, Belgium, and Cape Town, South Africa from the young age of 4. He returned to Korea to attend the Korea University School of Law. After much soul searching, Dr. Jiwon found his calling in the field of dentistry where he could impact peoples lives with his skillful hands. He always excelled in projects that required fine motor skills and manual dexterity since his youth and he feels the greatest joy when helping others in a tangible manner.
Dr. Jiwon lives in Snohomish with his wonderful wife, an energetic 5 year old son, and a very needy and rather lazy Maltese. He loves to spend most of his spare time taking his son outdoors and to childrens museums. He also enjoys fly fishing with his wife and dabbling in photography and playing guitar. He secretly hopes his son will be a soccer superstar, hence why he named him after the greatest soccer player alive, Lionel Messi.. (Shhhh... dont tell his wife).

Despite your best efforts, teeth sometimes need to be removed to protect your health. When we've discussed all other possibilities, and you've decided on extraction, we'll take every step to help you. Your well-being always takes priority in any treatment decision. Some patients prefer sedationto help with oral surgery, and we can review these options in your treatment plan. You can trust we take every measure to make sure even minor surgical procedures are as comfortable as possible.
Some teeth are removed more easily than others, but the Snohomish Family Dentistry team takes pride in helping every patient get numb with modern anesthetics to start every procedure. Once anesthesia settles in, Dr. Jiwon Gwak and Dr. Kela Ness use specialized instruments to elevate the tooth out of place. You will receive specific post-op instructions help you care for the area after your procedure, with prescriptions for any medications needed during the healing period.
While our immediate concern is the short-term management of your care, we will also discuss your long-term plans for replacing missing teeth. Leaving a space is always an option, but spaces in your smile can create appearance and function challenges that are important to consider. Teeth slowly shift or migrate into open spaces, and minimizing the effects of an unbalanced bite can prevent issues later in life.
Although our primary goal is to help your teeth stay healthy and functional, an extraction is sometimes the best way to preserve the overall health of your mouth. Since teeth help nourish our bodies and support our confidence, we will help you find a game plan that fits your short and long-term goals.

This is the dental Practice you are looking for! In fact you'd be making a mistake if you didn't at least make an appointment with Dr. Jiwon. His team is very professional and he does top notch work! I have an Irrational Fear of dental work and tooth pain is, in my opinion, worse than getting in the ring with Mike Tyson or Conor Mcgregor. They all do a great job at putting me at ease and working with very little irritation. MAKE AN APPOINTMENT!

Super friendly dentist and staff who immediately make you feel welcomed. I am pregnant and they made sure I was comfortable and not feeling stressed throughout my entire cleaning. I also took my 3 year old daughter here for her first cleaning and cannot say enough kind words about how friendly and patient they were with her. They let her take as long as she needed to get comfortable with the hygienist and the dentist before starting her cleaning and made the whole process as fun and stress free as possible for her.

Dr Jiwon and his staff are amazing! Recently got Invisalign treatment done here and the doctor and staff helped and kept me informed every step of the way and made it very affordable to me. They take covid very seriously and the office is very clean and every precaution is made here!

After having had horrible dental care from a (quack) in Snohomish I searched out a new dentist. I was reading all the wonderful reviews about Dr. Jiwon and decided to give them a try. Dr. Jiwon and his staff are THE most amazing people ever!! I've been going for a little over a year now and Dr. Jiwon has fixed all the damage caused by the previous dentist. Every time I go into the office all the staff along with Dr. Jiwon treat me like I'm their only patient and have been seeing them for years!! They make you feel so special! I now have my boyfriend seeing him as well as several friends and recently have sent my mom. I will go no place else. If I moved to Siberia...I would travel to see Dr. Jiwon. You can absolutely trust them will all your dental care. I love this team!! Thank you Dr. Jiwon, Nicole, Diane and everyone for making my trips to the dentist a pleasant experience... every time!

Dr JiWon and his staff was amazing! As someone who has had more than her fair share of dental work done, I have more than a moderate amount of dental anxiety. During the more than 2 hour procedure they made sure to explain everything they were doing and made sure I was feeling comfortable the entire time. The office has taken extra Covid-19 related steps to make sure you feel safe at all times. So thankful for the accommodating staff both at the front desk who greeted me with smiles and answered all questions to Dr JiWon and everyone who assisted in the procedure itself with nothing but compassion and warmth.

I love Snohomish Family Dentistry. Every time I visit I have a blast just catching up with staff. I feel welcomed, safe and fully cared for. Their concern for patients is genuine and it's hard to find that family-like atmosphere at just any dentist's office. I would recommend this practice to people who are afraid of going to the dentist because I was once one of them.

Dr Jiwon is the most amazing dentist! He redid my crown that was done in another country and had problems since I got it done. Now it is perfect! His staff is amazing at helping navigating insurance and helping scheduling. Will reccomend everyone i know to come here!
