Dr. Meredeth S. Gray was born in Madison, Indiana and grew up in Indianapolis. She graduated from Ben Davis High School in 1988, earned her Bachelor of Science Degree from Indiana University Kelly School of Business, and worked as a financial analyst.
She then continued her education graduating with Honors from Indiana University School of Dentistry and was on the Dean's List all four years of dental school. She is a member of the League of Terre Haute, National Dental Honor Society (Omicron Kappa Upsilon), the Indiana Dental Association, American Dental Association and Western Indiana Dental Society. Dr. Gray has also been a member of the Spina Bifida Association since 1995.
As part of the Smudde family, Dr. Gray comes from a long line of dentists. Her father, Dr. Carl Smudde, was a dentist in the same practice for over 30 years. There are also 4 other dentists and 3 hygienists in the family. Dr. Gray started as a young child in the Practice developing x-rays and assisting her father with patients in any way she could. She always enjoyed it and looked forward to coming to 'the office.'
Dr. Gray has been in Terre Haute full-time since 2010 and has been married for over 20 years with two children. Spending time with her family is one of her greatest enjoyments, along with cooking, entertaining, reading, gardening, and traveling. Dr. Gray is continually striving to improve her knowledge and skills in order to stay up to date with dentistry today and takes great pride in treating patients in a caring, professional and friendly manner.
Amy has been a Registered Dental Hygienist with our Practice since 1984. She has a wonderful rapport with her patients and really enjoys keeping up to date with their lives and their families. Amy takes great pride in doing whats best for and helping all patients. She has been a great asset to us and comes to work every day with a smile and cheerfulness that is refreshing! I really enjoy keeping busy, doing outdoor activities like biking, camping, hiking, traveling, and spending time with our children and grandchildren. If you havent met Amy yet, you will know her soon by her eagerness and smile when you visit the office.
Theresa is one of our treasured Registered Dental Hygienists. I graduated from University of Southern Indiana in 2003 and studied at Indiana University and have over thirteen years of hygiene experience. I have a love to make my patients feel at ease and have a strong desire to deliver the best care to my patients! I have a positive attitude and outlook on all things and I bring with me a freshness and passion for providing oral health care and education to my patients. I enjoy spending precious time with my husband, our three daughters and young son. My future goals include traveling with Mike to the Holy Land and visiting other countries. I would also love to serve in other countries on mission trips to improve the quality of their oral health.

Very nice and professional, they accommodate for my schedule and sensitivity I have with my teeth. They accept HIP, a highly clean atmosphere/setting. I recommend this location over any other local dentistry. 10/10

Let me start off by saying that I have ALWAYS had problems with my teeth. Sensitivity, root canals, etc. I do everything to prevent problems by flossing daily, brushing after every meal. Good teeth does not run in my family. So I'm scared of the dentist, I'm scared to tell them my problems, I'm scared what they're going to tell me. NOT ANYMORE. The staff at Smudde is caring, informative and helpful. If I tell them about a problem they listen intensely and make sure I am taken care of. They make sure I am comfortable throughout the entire process / appointment. I used to cancel all of my dentist appointments because the little child in me would get scared but now I don't have any second thoughts. I've moved many times and been to many different dentists and Dr. Gray is by far the best one!

I had an appointment for a routine cleaning last year on May 12th, 2021. I'm just now writing this because I just received a text & email reminder that I'm due for an exam with them. I will not be going back as they didn't even DO my last exam. I was told by my dental hygienist that I needed a "deep cleaning" and she would need to see if my insurance covered it, and I would need to reschedule my appointment for a later date. I came there for a cleaning appointment and was told to make another appointment? Who has time for that? Before this May 2021 appointment., my last cleaning was in July of 2020, and before that every 6 months prior. I could understand if it had been years since my last cleaning, but that was not the case. So I left, and received a notice from my insurance weeks later that I had been denied. Needless to say, I did not go back. I found another dentist, and got a regular cleaning with no issues or comments about needing deep cleaning. On another note, my boyfriend also came here for a cleaning, and actually got to get his cleaning done (lucky him)! This was surprising as he hadn't had a cleaning in years but wasn't told he needed a deep cleaning. However, he did get calls repeatedly for weeks after telling him he needed to make a follow up appointment for extra work to get done. He asked the receptionist to stop calling him and they said they made a note in his chart, and then kept calling him. Update: Just saw the comment from the owner. I did not receive an examination by the doctor, I never met her. I had a dental hygienist for the 10 minutes or so that I was there. She told me to my face that I needed a "deep cleaning" and that they would need to see if my insurance covered it first, then she sent me home without a cleaning. I can upload the denial from my insurance for a deep cleaning if necessary.

I went to Dr. Smudde for years and had no problem. Then Dr. Gray took over. 7 years ago Dr. Gray told me I had a cavity when I didn't! Actually they didn't even say "you have a cavity." She nonchalantly said I need to schedule an appointment for a filling as she walked out of the room. I had to stop her, and say, "excuse me, a filling? I've never had a cavity before. Are you saying I have a cavity?" To which she replied, "oh, you haven't!?" This was right after she supposedly looked at my x-rays!!! Did she not actually look at my x-rays or did she have no clue how to look at them? Wouldn't you see that? I went and got a second opinion. And guess what? No cavity! I've continued to go to the dentist (not her!) every 6 months since then and STILL NO CAVITIES. This experience was unbelievable. There were also staff changes at that time. The front desk person along with others were not very friendly at all. Edit to add (since I don't know how to reply): I had a different last name at the time as I've gotten married since then. I still have my email correspondence with you from 7 years ago regarding this matter.
