Dr. Scott R. Education Dr. Smolarek graduated magna cum laude with a degree in biology at the University of Buffalo and Buffalo State College. He continued his education at the University of Pittsburgh School of Dental Medicine, where he graduated with the title of Doctor of Dental Medicine (DDM), and received the Elliot Brodie Award for Clinical Excellence, awarded to a graduating dental student who shows outstanding skill and talent in the field of dentistry. Career and Qualifications In addition to private practice, Dr. Smolarek has been an attending dentist for the Erie County Medical Centers Dental Residency Program. Dr. Smolarek is currently Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of Buffalo School of Dental Medicines Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Department. He is a member of the American Dental Society, the New York Dental Society, and the 8th District Dental Society.
CEREC 3D uses CAD/CAM (Computer Aided Design/Computer Aided Manufacturing) technology, incorporating a camera, a computer, and milling machine in one instrument. First, your damaged tooth is prepared with a thin layer of reflective powder applied directly on the tooths surface. With a special camera, the dentist takes an optical impression of the damaged tooth, which is transferred to the computer and displayed on a color screen.
Your doctor will use CAD technology to design the restoration. Then, the CAM takes over and automatically creates the restoration. Using a high-speed diamond bur and a disk, the CAM mills the restoration out of a solid block of ceramic material. Once completed, the dentist will bond the new restoration to the surface of the old tooth. The whole process takes approximately one hour.

THIS PLACE SCAMMED ME! I have dental insurance but they still charged me and said when they submit it to the insurance company & get their reimbursement, they will reimburse me. They never submitted to the insurance company, so I eventually did! The insurance company paid them, and then Smolarek never paid me. Almost 5 months and I still have no reimbursement.

0 stars. BEWARE. Very sad and deeply regret Smolerek "did my crown". It came off within a week. He glued it in. Now maybe 2 years later I'm having an implant because he did such a horrible job. A crown can't be redone and an implant is painful, expensive, and takes months. Deeply regret seeing him.

My whole family has been going here since he opened the office. The office staff is great and Dr Scott is awesome. My kids are comfortable there and have no fear of dental work. They run on time and have fit my husband in a few times when he was having tooth issues. Sue really knows insurance and spent about 20 minutes explaining my orthodontia coverage when it had nothing to do with their office. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

While getting my teeth cleaned THEY broke a piece off of my permanent retainer. They asked me if i wanted it fixed, why would I say no when it wasn't broken before I went in? They never communicated to me that that type of work isn't covered under insurance. When I left they said I was all set. I now owe an outstanding balance of 300 dollars. Not only is that a scam but not how a health care business should be ran. They lost me as a client.

If I could give less than 1 star, I surely would! Do yourself a huge favor and pass right over this dentist and keep looking. I found this dentist when I had 3 teeth hurting and bothering me. Went in for an exam and was told they need to be pulled, I informed them I was on blood thinners and they said thats fine but my INR must be between a 2 and a 3. Gave me antibiotics and set my extraction appt. for a month later, wasn't happy about that but they said that was all they could do. So I suffered out the month and went in for my extraction, told them my INR that morning was 2.4, they took me in back, sat in the dentist chair, waited over an hour, and the dentist walked in and said I had to make an appt. with an oral surgeon that he wouldn't even attempt pulling them cause I was on blood thinners. Between the pain I was in and hearing this (which the could have told me a month ago) I almost lost my mind. I pleaded with them and all they did was rush me out the door and then charge me for the appt. time on top of it. Worst dental experience I ever had. Like I said do yourself a favor and keep looking.

I just started going to Smolarek Dentistry a year ago, and I regret not going there much sooner. The staff are all very friendly and professional. Dr. Scott is an amazing dentist and really cares about his patients. He is personable and gentle. I prefer the gas because I get nervous and they are good at taking care of me. I would recommend anyone with a toothache or someone who just needs a cleaning.
