Dr. L. Fernando Quirs earned his dental degree from University of Costa Rica and completed his clinical externship at the University of Bergen, Norway. He continued his postgraduate training in a general practice residency with a concentration in implants and cosmetic dentistry at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston School of Dentistry. Afterwards, Dr. Quirs relocated to Norfolk, VA to enter private practice. Dr. Quirs is committed to improving himself through continual education courses. In 2016, he completed the year-long Implant Residency program at Triangle Dental Institute in North Carolina. He also achieved Fellow status in the Academy of General Dentistry, which is a 5-year program requiring over 500 hours of continuing education. Hes currently working towards an Associate Fellowship in the International Congress of Oral Implantology. Dr. Quirs is a member of the Tidewater Dental Association, Virginia Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, and American Dental Association. In his spare time, he enjoys training for and participating in triathlons, traveling, and spending time with his family.

This is by far the best Dental Clinic I have ever been to, They are so very nice and EXTREMELY thorough. Highly Recommend! I also highly recommend Myra. She is awesome!

Great staff and very good dentist. Dental work was done efficiently and with care. The dentist and nurse keep me updated throughout the procedure. I have told several friends and family members how pleased I am with the service I received at Smfld. Dental.

After a decade: months ago; never more. A receptionist with an attitude; an office manager who blew off my request to get a phone number to speak to my hygienist; poor treatment after COVID which lead to periodontal disease I'm out. I am sad but my new dentist is such a contrast! From a family atmosphere to poor treatment at every aspect I am glad I moved on. Karma was on my side thank the Lord!

One of the most thorough dental exams I have had. The staff were terrific and very welcoming. Dr. Q explained everything that he saw and options for the way forward. He has a fantastic chair side manner.

Great dental work. My only suggestion is turn down the music volume. Not everyone wants to hear what's playing and the db level with all the other sounds is just too much. Left with a major migraine. BUT, it won't deter me from the exceptional staff. I'm a regular patient and don't plan on going anywhere else!

The staff in this office care about their patients! Dr Q is detail oriented and wants you to be happy with results. He is also open minded about patient needs when dealing with severe anxiety. Sadly, most are not. I am beyond thankful to have found this dentist! Thank you Smithfield Dental!!!

My first visit to Smithfield Dental was a very pleasant one. I was impressed with the friendly staff. I had a routine dental cleaning and Christina (hygienist) was super nice and passionate about her work. Doctor Quito's took his time to chat with me and told me about his background and explained the processes of the office. I will continue my future dental service with Smithfield Dental. Great place and great location.

Dr. Quiros and his staff have been very helpful with a tooth that had to be pulled. Everyone in the office is caring and gives you the information you need to heal. I've been very pleased with my experience thus far and would highly recommend Dr. Quiros.

My first visit to this office was back in June 2022. My initial impressions were as follows: the front desk staff was amazingly nice and very very helpful. The office was very clean, well maintained. I was then led to the the exam room by Melanie. She is the most professional, and helpful dental assistant I've ever had. I was full of questions that day and she never made me feel rushed or ignored. She answered every question. Every. Single. One... After xrays and all that , I met the dentist, Dr. Q . We went over all of the options available to me. Dr. Q and Melanie explained everything to me, and gave me some take home info so I could go home and think about how I wanted to proceed. I was never pressured to go one route over another. The Dr. Gave me all the pros and cons of each option and we decided together. Let me add, my teeth were in HORRENDOUS shape. I was too embarrased to even go to the dentist for years. Dr.Q and his staff never made me feel judged. They were there to help me, and I definitely felt that. There was a palpable feeling of being in good hands. I decided to get an implant supported bridge. A bridge replacing all of my top teeth, supported by implants. Surgery was scheduled. The day of surgery when my wife and I arrived at the office, we were greeted by Dr.Q and he told me what to expect after surgery, and answered any questions we had. Dr.Q even gave us his personal cell phone number incase we had any questions after surgery. Surgery went really well. It was about a 2 hour surgery under general anesthesia. I woke up with my new smile! I couldn't be happier. I can smile again. I don't have to hide my mouth with my hand or by looking away when I smile. It feels so good to just smile. The first time I looked in the mirror after surgery and smiled, I cried. I'm a grown man and I literally cried because I could finally smile again. Dr.Q made sure my post op pain was managed well also . I know this was a long review, but I couldn't be happier with this office. EVERYONE from the staff up front, to Melanie and Dr. Q in the back, genuinely care about their patients. They will help you! I was so pleased, I am going to have my bottom teeth done by Dr. Q the same way in a year or so. If you're thinking about making an appointment with them, do it! You won't regret it. These amazing people have changed my life.
