Dr. Smith was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana but was raised predominantly in El Paso, Texas. Upon graduating Valedictorian of Andress High School, she went on to complete her undergraduate studies at the University of Texas at Austin where she graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutritional Sciences. Dr. Smith then studied at the University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio to earn her degree of Doctor of Dental Surgery. She graduated as Valedictorian and earned numerous honors including the prestigious Kramer Award and was inducted into the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Dental Honor Society.
Upon completion of dental school, Dr. Smith pursued further training at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston where she earned her Master of Science degree and specialty Certificate in Orthodontics. Immediately following residency, Dr. Smith gained board certification and became a diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics.
Dr. Smiths passion is in helping others and truly caring about the patients that she is blessed to treat. Dr. Smith is also passionate about teaching and maintaining the standards of her profession. She currently is an Assistant Clinical Professor at the UT Health Science Center in Houston and maintains an active role in many professional organizations including the American Dental Association, the Texas Dental Association, the Greater Houston Dental Society, The American Board of Orthodontics, and the American Association of Orthodontics.
Dr. Smith is married to her better half, Scott, who is currently a resident at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston for Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery. Together they have a rambunctious fur baby named Bosley. Outside of the office, she also enjoys being outdoors, running, traveling, cheering on the Longhorns, and spending quality time with her family and friends.
A lifelong Texan, Dr. Carrie Pisklak was raised in Dallas. She attended Texas A&M University in College Station where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Nutrition and graduated with the honor of Magna Cum Laude.
Dr. Pisklak received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio where she earned numerous scholastic awards and graduated with the honor of Summa Cum Laude. Upon completing her dental training, she was accepted into residency at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston where she received a Master of Science degree and Certificate in Orthodontics.
Dr. Pisklak is Board Certified who takes an active role in exceeding the standards of her profession. She is an active member of many professional organizations, including the American Dental Association, the American Association of Orthodontists, the Texas Dental Association and the Greater Houston Dental Society. She has been in private practice since 2002.
In February 2006, Dr. Pisklak became one of the youngest orthodontists in the country to become board-certified. This prestigious certification is given by the American Board of Orthodontics to those orthodontists who undergo intense examination and presentation of treated orthodontic cases.
Dr. Pisklak and her husband, Ben, are blessed with three beautiful children, Katie, Abby and Connor. Dr. Pisklak provides volunteer services at her church, Chapelwood United Methodist, Boys & Girls Country and the Candlelighters Childhood Cancer Family Alliance. Away from the office, she enjoys saltwater fishing, snow skiing and traveling.

Dr. Pisklak was fantastic and explained to me and my daughter everything and took the time to answer all our questions. She is great. I highly recommend her practice, and her assistant was amazing and super friendly too.

This is the best orthodontist! They are so accommodating on times and have a great vibe. Everyone is so friendly when you walk in the door. They make your experience enjoyable instead of stressful as it could be. They are so amazing!

Dr.Smith has truly changed my daughters life in the best way there is.There is so much pressure on kids these days, and Dr.Smith has token so much pressure off of mine. We started off at another Orthodontist who wasn't the best to say the least. My daughters dentist then referred us to Dr.Smith and it has truly been a game changer. She helped and educated us about my daughters braces on a whole other level, and for straight to work. She has truly been a blessing.

Dr. Pislak and Dr. Smith are great. They take the time to explain everything so thoroughly to me. They have the friendliest staff. I cannot stress that enough. They always make us feel so welcome. My kids always feel at ease and love going to the orthodontist. Two of my kids have had to get appliances put in and neither one complained of any pain. They are truly great and i highly recommend them.

I was referred by a good friend of mine to go see Dr. Smith so I made an appointment to see her and from the.moment I walked in I felt the good energy from the front office to the back office !! She is now my son's new orthodontist!! I have to say thank you Mindy Gilbert !!

Dr. Smith is the absolute best! I was so impressed with the treatment she provided my daughter that I myself went back for adult braces. I've been to other orthodontists where my kids were just another number in a chair, but not at S&P. Dr. Smith and the entire staff is attentive and respectful of our time. Highly recommend!

The staff were accommodating. Ashley made my teen comfortable. Dr. Smith was able to explain to us what options there are, what most parents prefer when she saw my anxiety. My teen actually verbalized that he liked them... that alone says 5 stars.

I am not always the one who takes my son to his appointments, but when I do I would like an update of what occurred @ the appointment since I do not go to the back with him (without having to ask). Other than that, I Am pleased and would recommend Smith & Pisklak to others (and have).

The entire staff is very friendly and knowledgeable in what they do. I started my visits with Doctors Smith & Pisklak with an overbite that was causing excessive wear on several teeth, and other teeth were crooked. I was treated with Invisalign and now I have a normal bite and my teeth are the straightest they have ever been. I am very pleased with the results, and my dentist is very impressed on how Doctors Smith and Pisklak were able to correct my misaligned bite.
