Dr. Hussaini is an Ivy-league-trained orthodontist. He completed his orthodontic residency at the prestigious Columbia University. Some general dentists provide orthodontic services after attending weekend courses for a few weeks. However, an orthodontic specialist attends 2-3 years of a residency program after dental school so they have the adequate specialized training to handle all orthodontic problems.

After completing residency, Dr. Hussaini became board-certified in orthodontics. Achieving board certification is a rigorous process that involves demonstration of excellence in both didactic and clinical orthodontics. It is the highest level of orthodontic certification that can be reached. Not all practicing orthodontists go through the process of becoming board-certified because of the degree of difficulty involved.

We offer a wide variety of orthodontic services. Whether you are interested in traditional metal braces, clear braces, or even braces on the inside surfaces of your teeth (Inbrace or lingual braces), we have all options available for you! If you do not want braces at all, we also offer orthodontic treatment with clear aligners.

Dr. Hussaini is a Preferred Provider for Invisalign. This means he has extensive experience with Invisalign cases and is quite familiar and comfortable with this treatment option. He also has excellent familiarity with other clear aligners systems in the market and now has the ability to manufacture in-house aligners as well.

We are committed to keeping up with technology to provide the best and most innovative treatment to our patients. We use digital scanners to create detailed images of our patients mouths. This technology has allowed us to forgo traditional impressions with messy putty, which is often uncomfortable for patients and even gag-inducing.

Our 3D printer allows us to manufacture certain appliances and even clear aligners in-house. This reduces the turnaround time, which means faster results for you! Plus this allows Dr. Hussaini to have full control of the treatment which results in better accuracy.

For him, one of the greatest thrills in life is seeing the ecstatic reactions and self-confidence in his patients brought about by their beautiful, new smiles. He takes great joy in providing quality orthodontic treatment that gives his patient the smiles they deserve.

First trained in engineering, Dr. Hussaini transitioned to orthodontics so that he could enjoy interactions with patients and helping others. Today, he applies both his engineering skills and orthodontics experience at Smileworks Orthodontics. Although he enjoys the scientific and technical applications of orthodontics, it is the personal connection with his patients that truly touches his heart.

Dr. Hussaini earned a Bachelor of Science undergraduate degree in biomedical engineering from Virginia Commonwealth University, graduating summa cum laude. He then went on to complete his Doctorate of Dental Surgery at the VCU School of Dentistry. He attended the MCV campus and graduated magna cum laude.

Following dental school, Dr. Hussaini completed an orthodontic residency program atColumbia University College of Dental Medicine, where he was awarded a Master of Science degree in Orthodontics. During his residency, he was elected as class president and honored with the chief resident position. This postgraduate training provided Dr. Hussaini with invaluable experience in modern orthodontics principles and techniques.

As an active, practicing orthodontist, Dr. Hussaini realizes that continuing education is crucial to allowing him to provide up-to-date care for all his patients. He completes many hours of continuing education every year locally, nationally, and through the internet and maintains active membership in the following professional organizations so that he stays current on dental medicine topics:

Dr. Hussaini grew up in Northern Virginia and has been a part of the local community for over 25 years. He married his wife, Maria, soon after he opened Smileworks Orthodontics. The two of them are blessed with a daughter, Zaynab, and a son, Yusuf. Dr. Hussaini is an avid sports fan who particularly loves watching professional football (Go Cowboys!). He also enjoys eating out and watching movies with family and friends. Dr. Hussaini and his family love to travel since it allows them to experience the wonderful different cultures and places the world has to offer.

Dr. Hussaini realizes that he is extremely fortunate to be at his current position in life and that not everyone has the same opportunities. He strongly believes that it is his human and civil responsibility to help people in need in any way possible. Dr. Hussaini regularly volunteers with local groups that provide free dental services to underprivileged patients and other organizations such as the Mission of Mercy Project, Give Kids a Smile Day, Habitat for Humanity, and Special Olympics.

Personal Information: I have two daughters who keep me very busy on my free time. We love going to the park and swimming. On Sundays you will find me watching my Pittsburg Steelers football game and yelling at the TV :).

Duties: My daily duties include assisting patients with financial arrangements and payments. I also handle all insurance claims and concerns. My most important responsibility is making sure that patients are provided excellent customer service.

Why do you love working with Dr. Hussaini? Dr. H is the coolest and most understanding boss you could ever ask for. He is very easy to talk to and he truly cares about each and every one of his patients.

Personal Information: I was born and raised in Honduras and I came to this country 7 years ago. I have been working in the dental field since then. I like walking and eating the food my husband cooks.

Duties: I spend my days assisting Dr. Hussaini in changing wires and color ties, delivering new appliances, taking x-rays, photos, teaching patients how to care for their teeth and braces, and making sure patients are happy and as comfortable as possible. I also work in the lab to make retainers, aligners and also help do sterilization.

What is your favorite part of your job? I enjoy that my job lets me work one-on-one with our patients and allows me to build great relationships with them. I love seeing the transformations patients go through to achieve their perfect smiles.

Why do you love working with Dr. Hussaini? I enjoy working with Dr. Hussaini because he cares for our patients like they are our family. He is very knowledgeable, professional, caring, loves to teach, and he is down to earth.

Duties: I assist Dr. Hussaini in orthodontic treatments such as: bonding, debonding, taking x-rays, taking dental scans of patients teeth, and removing and replacing wires. Im also in charge of printing out models for retainers/aligners, as well as maintaining lab work efficiency and accuracy.

Personal Information: On my free time, I love to travel around the world with my husband and try out new restaurants and adventures. I love to cook food for my husband and my family. On my downtime, I love singing karaoke and watching movies with my husband.

Duties: I am responsible for cleaning and maintaining the instruments used in the practice to avoid any infection and contamination, keeping both our patients and team safe. I also assist in seating patients and help with any adjustments done during their treatment.

Personal Information: I like to listen to music and watch movies and series on both Hulu and Netflix. I love going on nature walks and exploring new beautiful places to sit and relax and enjoy the view. I also love photography and ordering a bunch of things from Amazon :D.
