While still in college, Dr. Melnyk was employed as a dental assistant. Working in a dental environment surrounded by the artistry, skill, and life-changing impact on patients instilled in her a passion for dentistry and motivated Dr. Melnyk to pursue a dental career.
She successfully completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana with a major in Biology and minor in Chemistry. Dr. Melnyk then entered Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine in Alton, IL, a graduate school of great academic record and advanced technology, where she received her DMD (Doctor of Medical Dentistry) degree, graduating with honors.
Dr. Melnyk began working in the Chicago area as an associate dentist for a large dental group. During this time, she had the opportunity to further expand her knowledge and expertise, while enhancing her skills and techniques. She felt comfortable in the care she provided but desired more in cultivating relationships with her patients.
In 2017, Dr. Melnyk purchased Smileworks Center from Dr. Lani Basco, a well-regarded dentist, who had created a patient culture that was unique and based on genuine relationships. Dr. Melnyk intends to continue this philosophy, and promote a professional and caring environment for her patients.
Dr. Shahram Raoof, a Chicago native, earned his B.S degree in Biology with Honors at the University of Illinois at Chicago before moving to Philadelphia to pursuehis dental degree. After earning his DMD from the University of Pennsylvania with Honors in Clinical Dentistry, Dr. Raoof joined Harvard School of Dental Medicine to earn his certificate in the field of Periodontics and Masters of Medical Sciences in Oral Biology.
Dr. Raoofs extensive training in restorative dentistry at UPenn and his continued work at Harvard in surgical procedures such as dental implants, sinus augmentations, connective tissue surgery and guided tissue/bone regeneration, has granted him the ability to treat patients completely and comprehensively.
Dr. Raoof is committed to providing the most personalized, long-term functional and aesthetic treatment plans to his patients, through science and evidence based dentistry as well as compassion and empathy to his patients needs.
Dr. Rosalez completed his undergraduate studies at Augustana College. After graduating with honors he went on to get his doctor of dental medicine degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago. His passion for helping others motivates him to stay current with the most advanced techniques in dentistry. Earning hundreds of hours of continuing education yearly, Dr. Rosalez provides the best care possible for his patients.
After completing a post-graduate program at the Chicago Implant Institute, Dr. Rosalez has passed rigorous examination sponsored by the American Academy of Implant Dentistry. He provides safe and effective implant placement, restoration, and care.
Dr. Wier is an excellent clinician, and a caring man who has valued his patients and staff for over 25 years. Following in his father's footsteps, his practice has been servicing the community for nearly 60 years.Dr. Rob has decided to pass along the legacy of his fathers practice to Dr. Melnyk in 2018, when Dr. Rob and his staff joined Smileworks Center.
Dr. Wier is a 1991 graduate of Loyola School of Dentisty. He is a member of the Academy of General Dentisty and is bilingual in English and German. Dr. Wier has one young son and enjoys skiing and trying out new restaurants in the Chicago area.
