We stand by Dr. Mortensen and his ability to provide both outstanding and educational dental care. Knowing we can trust him to provide the best care possible to our patients is by far the greatest gift we receive as Smiles on State Street Staff. He has a true talent for dentistry and his caring, patient approach to dentistry is unsurpassed.
After growing up in Nampa, Dr. Mortensen attended Ricks College/BYU-Idaho, spent two years on a church mission in Argentina, and received his Bachelors Degree in Nutritional Science at BYU in Utah. This is one dentist who knows how diet affects your teeth! After earning his Doctorate of Dental Medicine at the University of Louisville in Kentucky, Dr. Mortensen and his wife returned home to the Treasure Valley to be close to their families.
He views his role in oral healthcare as an educator, helping patients make educated decisions about their treatment. His easy-going attitude helps patients feel comfortable in his chair right away. That attitude also allows him to enjoy all the things Idaho has to offer, including camping, swimming, water skiing, and watching or playing most any sport.
People may be surprised to know that Dr. Mortensen has driven from the Pacific to Atlantic coast. Each time he drives into a new state, he stops the car and takes a photo of the state border sign. He hopes to one day have a picture collection of every state welcoming him to that state.

I am so grateful for Smiles on State! Dr Mortensen and his staff are so incredibly kind, patient and willing to work easily with insurance...They also have great self pay options that we have utilized with our large family...The kids love to visit with the staff and they all know us which means a great deal...Dr Mortensen has avoided costly procedures when other options for saving teeth have been available...he always does great work and has great integrity as well...

First of all, Deb is the best! She's kind and efficient. I started my dental journey 2 years ago when I was in major pain. Smiles on State St got me in quickly and gave me a plan for addressing all my dental needs. I purchased and in house plan and that worked out great and allowed me to get regular cleanings, X-rays and a slight discount for the very expensive amount of work I've ended up having. All the hygienist are kind and personable and I have enjoyed chatting with them.

Love the friendly staff here, starting with Debbie's smiling face at the front desk to Allison who always remembers our previous conversations from months prior to the Dr. Eaves dropping in our conversation haha. I love clear across town but wouldn't leave this amazing facility

Excellent care, friendly staff, and I never feel pushed into any sort of treatment. Dr. Mortensen clearly explains my options, gives a recommendation and then I decide the course of treatment that works best for me! I appreciate the honesty and the great care I get at Smiles on State Street!

Love all of these guys in this office! Supper friendly and fun, they make my daughter at ease getting her alot of her dental problems taken care of. Very helpful with making a an going forward to get my daughter's teeth ready for braces. Great group!

Had some tooth pain early afternoon today (a Friday). They took me right in, I was in the chair less than 30 minutes after my call. The doctor and staff are outstanding... every time I see them. They get highest marks from me, I highly recommend them. Came in for a cleaning and checkup. Smiles on State Street continues to do an outstanding job; friendly, meticulous, efficient, and very caring. Visit them; you'll be glad you did! Update 9/29/22 Remains at the top of my "Outstanding people" list!!!!

I recently had my first assessment and cleaning at Smile. My dental hygienist, Candice, and Dr. Mortensen were both great and check-in was easy. Happy to say I have found my new dentist after putting it off for too long! Highly recommended!

It is always a calm and relaxing experience at Smiles on State. Dr. Mortenson and his staff are professional, friendly and calm. I always feel welcome. Allison has taken great care of my teeth for the last ten years, and it is a pleasure to see her every six months; she has a kind and gentle manner. I love that they keep an eye on possible problem areas, without ever pressure to do any unnecessary procedures.
