Our team will go above and beyond the expectation for dental care facilities to ensure the safety of everyone who enters our practice. As a dental office, we already have the highest level of infection control and follow strict regulations to prevent spreading germs to others. We rigorously disinfect all surfaces that patients and ourselves come in contact with, sanitize our hands before, after, and sometimes during procedures, use all recommended personal protective equipment, sterilize all instruments immediately after every procedure, and verify sterilization with spore testing.
In addition to our everyday sanitation and sterilization protocols, we are implementing new safety measures in our office. We have added UVC disinfecting air purifiers throughout the office, clear plastic barriers at the reception desk, additional high-speed suction during aerosol procedures, and additional sterilization and disinfection protocols between patients and throughout the office.
Jon M. Daby D.D.S. graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in 2003. After graduating he received further advanced training in all dental specialties by completing an optional one year hospital residency program in Syracuse, NY. Dr. Jon has continued to receive advanced postdoc training in implants, root canal treatment, sedation, and cosmetic dentistry, among other specialties through many hours of continuing education. He moved to Oregon in 2004 and has owned Smiles on Sandy since 2005.
Dr. Jon believes patients want a dentist they can trust to be honest with them, not hurt them, and provide treatment that will last. These beliefs have driven the way he treats each patient with respect, by listening to their needs and discussing their options. When providing treatment he understands that patients are often anxious. He works to put them at ease by verifying their anesthesia and listening to any concerns they have. He understands that the relationships built are what make patients comfortable in this potentially stressful setting. These relationships are also what make practicing dentistry so rewarding for him.
Dr. Jon enjoys spending time in the local community with his wife and three children. They also enjoy the outdoors. Their hobbies include skiing, backpacking, fishing, and camping, and numerous kids sporting events. As a native of North Dakota, Dr. Jon appreciates the year-round gardening and outdoor activities possible in the beautiful Northwest.
Dr. Jon comes from a family of dentists committed to providing all aspects of dentistry. His father practiced dentistry in North Dakota, where his grandfather practiced before him. He and his brother, Dr. Brett Daby, merged their existing dental practices in 2018 to become partners at Smiles on Sandy.
Brett L. Daby DDS graduated from the University of Minnesota School of Dentistry in 2009. He pursued further dental education with a residency program at the VA Medical Center in Portland, OR before entering private practice. He has continued to receive advanced training in cosmetic dentistry, sedation, dental implants, orthodontics, and more through hundreds of hours of continuing education.
Dr. Brett's practice philosophy follows the golden rule, treat patients the way you would want to be treated. He listens without judgement to understand each patient's specific concerns. After thorough evaluation, he takes the time to discuss a patient's condition and all available treatment options. He will always give his honest opinion of what he would do for himself or a loved one, and help a patient make the best decision for themselves.
When providing treatment, Dr. Brett is always sure to make the experience as comfortable as possible for the patient. He explains what to expect throughout a procedure and frequently checks in to make sure everything is OK. He finds the strong patient relationships built through compassion and sincerity to be the most rewarding part of his career.
Outside of work, Dr. Brett enjoys spending time with his family. He and his wife, Daynia, keep busy raising 2 active boys, Wyatt and Quinn. They enjoy playing many sports, camping, skiing, taking the dog to the dog park, and just having fun outside in the great Pacific NW.
Dr. Brett owned Blue Sky Dental in the Hollywood district of Portland since 2013 before he and his brother, Dr. Jon Daby, merged their practices together in 2018 to become partners at Smiles on Sandy. They come from a family of dentists in Grafton, North Dakota, where their father was a dentist and their grandfather before him. They are proud to continue the family legacy of exceptional dental care together in Portland.
The staff at Smiles on Sandy is dedicated to making your experience as smooth as possible. Our staff has been with the practice ranging from 4 to 27 years, giving them a vast range of experience in the dental field. They have developed long standing relationships with our patients, watching them grow, marry, and have children of their own.
Olivia is passionate about wellness and nutrition, and truly believes in the importance of investing in oral health. Outside of the office, Olivia enjoys practicing hot yoga, tending her vegetable garden, and cooking the fruits of her labor. In summer, Olivia can be found hiking the beautiful Oregon trails with her husband Whitney, and their pride and joy... Odysseus, a Swiss Mountain dog.
