Dr. Salvador (Buddy) Atienza graduated from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry in 1994. In addition to his private practice, he currently teaches one day a week at the College of Dentistry in Iowa City. Dr. Atienza specializes in family dentistry, but has also completed advanced education in orthodontics. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Iowa Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, the American Orthodontic Society, and the Spear Study Club. Dr. Atienza gives back to the community by volunteering with the YMCA, Knights of Columbus, Friends of Goodenow, and the Maquoketa Chamber.
Dr. Abby Gehl graduated from the University of Iowa College of Dentistry in 2005. Dr. Gehl is a Cascade native who has relocated to the Maquoketa area with her husband and children. She is a member of the American Dental Association, Iowa Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, and the Spear Study Club. Dr. Gehl is licensed in general dentistry and enjoys the many aspects of practice this allows. Her hobbies include gardening, decorating, antiques, and spending time with family.
We are especially interested in making all our patients feel right at home! We put your needs first to achieve efficient and comprehensive treatment. Our staff is trained and skilled, and we strive to provide energetic and fun-loving service to each patient. Each member of our treatment team is a registered assistant, and our office staff has years of experience in treating patients with the highest level of care. We strive to stay abreast of the latest in technological advances by regularly attending continuing education courses and seminars.

Very knowledgeable, professional, kind, & caring. Dr Buddy & his staff are known for their renowned services they provide. They have state of the art equipment & services along with the Best Ever Skills a client could ask for. The office is beautiful in a very comfortable setting. It's family owned & they give clients the same care they would give to their family. I am an RN, so I'm very particular with my health care, & I trust Smiles on Main that they can do anything!!

Awesome dental care from an exceptional staff. I've always had Steffany D as my hygienist. She is calm, caring and does a great job keeping my teeth healthy. I'd highly recommend Smiles on Main (and Steffany!) in Maquoketa for all your dental needs.

Dr Buddy has been amazing. I had a very complex case with braces, oral surgeries and dental implants. Dr Buddy made sure that my dental implants matched and they turned out perfect. Dr Buddy goes above for his patients.

Staff are super nice and professional. They were able to get me in, in a timely fashion. I was referred to a specialist. They called and got an appointment set up for me within a couple weeks. They go above and beyond meeting guidelines due to COVID. I drive from quad city area because I trust staff with my health!

Amazing, talented and knowledgeable staff! I chipped my front tooth over the weekend, it wasn't an emergency but I wanted it fixed quickly. They fit me in Monday afternoon and repaired the chip perfectly. Dr Gehl explains everything she is doing and why throughout the process. I left looking and feeling so much better! Highly recommend!!
