Dr. Francis Tan and Dr. Jennifer Tan are the husband and wife dental team behind Smiles on Cass. Together with their staff, the Smiles on Cass team looks forward to providing quality dental care for you and your entire family.
The opening of Smiles On Cass in Darien is a very exciting and special event for the doctors. As past, as well as current, residents of Darien, Drs. Francis and Jennifer Tan are your neighbors and look forward to making Smiles On Cass a part of the community.
Dr. Jennifer Tan is excited to 'come home' to take care of the people in the community where she grew up. As a past Darien resident, she attended Fairview Elementary School, Eisenhower Jr. High, and Downers Grove South High School. She was an active member of the Eisenhower band program and has many fond childhood memories of the Darien community. Dr. Jennifer then completed her undergraduate studies at Loyola University Chicago and received her Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from University of Illinois at Chicago. She is an active member of the American Dental Association, Illinois State Dental Association, and Chicago Dental Society. She considers herself a 'lifetime learner' and enjoys taking continuing education courses to expand her knowledge on current trends in dentistry.
Dr. Francis Tan moved to the Darien area when he was in high school. He attended Downers Grove South High School and then the University of Illinois at Chicago for his bioengineering degree. He then proceeded to receive his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago. Dr. Francis is a strong believer in continuing education and has specifically received additional training for implant placement and restoration, periodontal crown lengthening, and limited orthodontic treatment to expand his knowledge so he can better treat his patients.
In 2009, the doctors moved back to Darien to be closer to their families and in anticipation of starting a family of their own. With their fond memories of the area, they knew that Darien was the place they wanted to settle down and create new memories. They look forward to raising their daughter in the town they call home. In their spare time, Dr. Jennifer enjoys reading historical fiction and and Dr. Francis enjoys playing poker and tennis.

Today it was my first visit to this dental office ever, for cleaning and checking. I were so amazed. Doctor Tan was very professional. Dental hygienist Vivian did a perfect cleaning. I'm really impressed. Strongly recommend! Definitely come back.

I never thought I would be looking forward to my next dental appointment, but the results from my first visit wth Dr. Tan was spectacular!! She worked miracles on my teeth! I couldn't be happier!

I can only say great things bout doctors and hygienist! My 14 year old and 6 year old never had such a detailed dental cleanings before. Kids and I had a chance to meet both doctors and they were not rushing at all, answered all questions and concerns, my 6 year old left with a huge smile on her face and she said she will never be afraid of seeing a dentist anymore! I scheduled my appointment there as well and definitely send my husband there and recommend Smiles On Cass to all our family friends and family!

The doctor is very kind and I like how he explains to me everything. He is also not pushy, he allows me to choose which direction I should take regarding my procedures. The lady also in the front desk is very nice. I like her. However, my dental hygenist, she seems in a hurry. After, she did the cleaning I still have floss left over on my teeth.

Went to Smiles today with my daughter (4yo). The doctor and hygienist were so great with her and explained to me everything they were doing. Can not say enough great things about my cleaning and the entire experience. Very thorough, clean, safe and thoughtful. You can tell the staff and doctors take great pride in their work.

Drs. Jennifer and Francis Tan are both fantastic and have cared for our whole family for several years now. They are thorough, truthful, and very knowledgeable. I never have to second guess their advice. The facility is also very clean and sophisticated. They are transparent with their billing so their are no surprises. I highly recommend them!

For years our family of 8 went to another dentist, not because of exceptional work or service, but simply because when we made an appointment, he would get all 8 of us in same day. With every visit came an attempted hard sell of one product or another: Braces for the kids, whitening, invisoline or whatever the newest product out that visit. Every...single.. time Kids got older and they started making their own appointments and decided to start going to Smiles on Cass. Me? I stuck with the old dentist because...habit I went in a few years ago for a filling in my very back bottom molar. Before leaving the office I informed the old dentist that it didnt feel quite right. He told me not to worry about it and that it would take a week or 2 to wear down a little bit. 2 days later...CRACK! Molar all the way in the back broke completely in 1/2 and even broke the one in front of it. Back molar had to be completely removed and the one in front: Root canal and crown. Recently the crown came off and I was well overdue for a cleaning. To say the least, I still had a "bad taste in my mouth" from the old dentist and the broken teeth due to the bad filling. I was going to still make the appointment to get the crown glued back on (for the SECOND TIME) and then...covid About 3 months ago, I was ready to get the crown put back on and get a cleaning, but decided to check out these new dentists that my kids had found and WOW! What a difference! I made an appointment with Dr. Tan (Francis) and unfortunately (maybe?), not realizing that leaving a crown off for 6 months was a bad idea because your teeth "find each other" on the top and bottom, the old crown was no good and we had to get another made. (not even kidding here, we tried to get the old one back in...nope!) Dr. Tan got me a temp in on the crown and then did a looong overdue cleaning and the difference between him and my old dentist was like night and day. Today I went back to get the new permanent crown put in (by the way, the old one fell out after only a few years...thats NOT supposed to happen) and was treated by the other half of the dynamic Tan duo, Dr. Tan (Jennifer) Right now, I'm sitting here rubbing my tongue over the new crown and I'm simply in awe at the difference between the old dentist, Dr. Tans and Smiles on Cass. I seriously cant tell the difference between my real tooth on the other side and this new crown at all. Not even a little bit. Ive been rubbing my tongue against the old one for years and been reminded that it was there every day. Its not just the feel though. I cant stress enough the difference between the old dentist and the treatment I received here. From the cleaning, to the thoroughness of both doctors when it came to the cleaning, the measuring of the new crown by Dr. Tan (Francis) , and then to top it all off the preciseness of Dr. Tan (Jennifer) making sure repeatedly that the new crown was perfect and trimmed properly to avoid anything that would cause damage to my other teeth which is what got me this crown to begin with. Im sold! I hope they like me. I was with the last dentist for about 20 years, Im now a permanent patient of either Dr. Tan at Smiles On Cass and will be referring anyone I know to them. I wish I would have found them sooner..

I had contacted them for a possible emergency root canal. Although they don't perform root canals at their facility, they were speedy to refer me to a place that does (who ended up being excellent!). Dr. Tan followed up with me later in the day, stating if I need anything, not to hesitate to ask. Kindness is hard to find in the medical field sometimes, so I'll be sure to be back to smiles on Cass for my next routine visit!

They are the best. Best is not even the word. I've been going there since they opened the business. I love them all. Their services are outstanding. You can't find such nice people and extra ordinary service elsewhere. I'm hooked for life. My whole family goes there and I highly highly recommend them for all ages and for any dental help. Please do go there and you won't regret.

Yes, the staff at Smile On Cass is very nice. However, I can't say the same thing about their work. I got a cavity filling this past June right before my two months long trip to Europe. However, after getting it filled my tooth was hurting and I was not able to chew with the right side of my mouth. Following that, I went back to the office and told them about the problem. The dentist tried to fix the problem, however, my tooth was still hurting and she just told me "It should go away or if it doesn't, just chew with the left side of your mouth and come back to us after your two months long vacation". I left the office upset because my problem was not solved and I had to go on my trip with a hurting tooth. However, I was hoping the pain would go away in a few days and I would be able to enjoy my food without feeling the pain. Sadly, the pain did not go away and I had to go to see a dentist in Europe. The dentist was shocked by the dental work I got at Smiles On Cass. She told me that my dentin was polished and I had "an open wound" on my tooth. In order to reduce the discomfort I had to buy an ointment and hope that it will get better. Overall, going to see a dentist in a foreign country on my vacation was not a pleasant thing and also cost me extra money I was not planning on spending.

Our entire family uses the Tans for all our dental needs. We couldn't be happier with these doctors. I highly recommend this practice for all ages. They are caring and professional.
