Dr. Davis is a dedicated general, cosmetic, and family dentist serving patients from Santa Fe, NM and surrounding communities with the superior level of dental care they deserve in partnership with the Smiles of Santa Fe team. He completed his undergraduate studies in biology at the University of Massachusetts, and Dr. Davis went on to work as a chemist in clinical toxicology. He later went on to work as a biomedical researcher at Massachusetts General Hospital. He earned his doctor of dental surgery (DDS) form the Ohio State University College of Dentistry. He entered the dental field working as an Oklahoma dental officer with the Indian Health Service. Dr. Davis opened his first private practice in Maine in 1983.
Today, Dr. Davis serves as a nationally recognized dentist offering lectures, publishing research, and serving as an expert legal witness. Since 2003, Dr. Davis private practice, Smiles of Santa Fe, has offered hundreds of patients the superior level of care they need to achieve and maintain spectacular, picture-perfect smiles. As part of his ongoing dedication to providing superior dental care, Dr. Davis serves as a chairperson for the Santa Fe District Dental Society peer review and New Mexico State peer review member. He serves as a consultant for patients, attorneys, legislators, policymakers, and the media on a variety of issues including allegations of clinical malpractice, patient abuse, and fraud within the dental industry. Additionally, Dr. Davis maintains memberships in a number of professional organizations including the American Dental Association, the Santa Fe District Dental Society, and the New Mexico Dental Association. He delivers numerous education seminars and speeches for the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the Association of Cosmetic Practices, the American Association of Dental Consultants, and the International Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry.
Dr. Davis articles have been published in many respected journals including Dental Economics, Dentistry Today, The Journal of Cosmetic Dentistry, the DrBicuspid.com online dental news site, and The Journal of the American Dental Association. He is also on the editorial review board for The Journal of Cosmetic Dentistry.
As part of Dr. Davis ongoing dedication to educating the public about their rights as dental consumers, he has served as a chairperson on the Santa Fe District Dental Societys peer review board, and he coauthored a resolution for the New Mexico House of Delegates that formed part of the state dental statutes or rules of the state dental regulatory board. Additionally, he coauthored a joint position paper between the New Mexico Board of Dental Health Care, and the New Mexico Dental Association on Ethics in Dental Advertising. His paper for dental regulatory boards, Limiting Private Equity Dentistry, is considered the seminal work on the subject.
As part of an ongoing dedication to community dental health, Dr. Davis has provided dental care to incarcerated juveniles, worked with the Mission of Mercy, and with the Indian Pueblo Nations in New Mexico. He was formerly a faculty member with the Santa Fe Community Colleges dental assisting program where he enjoyed sharing his knowledge and love of dentistry with others.
Annie 's career began in the medical field. An opportunity in 2000 turned her focus towards dentistry. With over 22 years of experience at the front desk, she is the 'go-to' person for questions about insurances, specialists care coordination, co-pays, etc. Annie began chairside dental assisting in 2004 with Dr. Davis.
She is a proud Santa Fe native, with a large extended family. Annie is passionate about her family, the great outdoors, gardening, and caring for our locals. She can direct you to anyone - from a good auto mechanic to a great restaurant, or fill you in on our city's history, including Fiestas and Zozobra.
