As an accredited AACD dentist, Dr. Montrose has shown he is committed to continued education and first-class patient care. He has passed written and oral examinations and has submitted several clinical cases, which excelled at the AACD's high standards and resulted in his accreditation.
'I received my DMD from Oregon Health Sciences University in 2001 and joined the Smiles Northwest team the same year. Since then, I have used my skills and knowledge to help Beaverton residents achieve outstanding oral health.
As a leading family and cosmetic dentist, I place importance on continued education and pursue this to give my patients unparalleled care. I truly care about each patient and want him or her to benefit from optimal full body health.
Smiles Northwest is not currently a preferred provider for my insurance company, but I think I'll change insurance before I change dentists. I enjoy visiting Lori and Dr. Dotson too much to go anywhere else.
Growing relationships with patients and providing them with excellent care and education is imperative to me, which is why I continue pursuing the advancement of my education. Implant dentistry has been an enjoyable aspect of my practice because of the rewarding experience of restoring a patients ability to smile and eat again, so they can continue to enjoy life with their family and friends.
Dr. Chen is a Fellow of the International Congress of Oral Implantologists and served as a clinical instructor of Implant Dentistry at the OHSU School of Dentistry. Prior to joining our team, Dr. Chen served as a Dental Implant specialist for Kaiser and a general dentist.
Sharing dentistry with the community is a priority for Dr. Chen, as he serves as the Dental Director for the Oregon Special Olympics Healthy Smiles Initiative and regularly volunteers with local free dental clinics. He also spends one week every year as a camp counselor for Royal Family Kids Camp, a summer camp for children in the foster care system.
In addition to having volunteered as a clinical instructor at OHSU, Dr. Chen also gives continuing education lectures to dentists and dental students. He also serves as a mentor and advisor to dental students through the Delta Sigma Delta Dental Fraternity.

My family and I love Smiles Northwest! My boys (8 and 14), my husband and I get our teeth cleaned by friendly and professional hygienists and dentists. Dr. Chen and Dr. Dotson are kind and very knowledgeable. I love Smiles NW because the front desk staff call and text me friendly reminders, I know the hygienists well and I look forward to hearing how the dentists can help our teeth stay healthy! I've appreciated Dr. Chen's knowledge of teeth implants and orthodontist recommendations for my family.

This is not a reputable company. I was lied to and cheated. I was sent to their office by Somnomed to receive an appliance to help with my mild sleep apnea. It was suggested by the dentist that I also get an additional mouth piece to readjust my mouth after wearing the sleep apnea one. I said I preferred to wait and see if I needed it. I was told that if I waited it would cost me extra money. I was told by Heather that they called my insurance company and was told they would cover the cost of the additional appliance. I say, "Ok, let's do it." As it turns out the extra appliance was NOT covered by my insurance company. I was now responsible for the $550 for the additional appliance. I called Somnomed and they said that 1. Smile Dental should have never approached the insurance company and 2. They keep the mold for a few months so it would NOT have cost extra to wait. Smile Dental said that the $550 bill was ONLY for the insurance company. The actual cost was only $200 which I am now responsible for. I don't even wear the additional appliance. This company is unethical and does not care about it patients. I do NOT recommend that you go here. They are hungry for your money.

I am forever grateful to the team at Smiles Northwest. Heather and the front office staff are wonderful, warm, and welcoming and are the best at appointment reminders. The back office staff never seem hurried and always take time to ensure patient comfort. Dr. Chen is masterful at tackling challenging dental procedures, of which I have presented many, and manages to restore my teeth and keep me smiling. I want to thank you for always striving for optimal outcomes.

Great staff and overall excellent experience! I had not been to the dentist in over 2 years and was a bit nervous on the condition that my teeth would be in. My cleaning was top notch, I left the office feeling like I had a clean slate to work with. Dr. Chen and his staff were very pleasant to work with. So grateful I found Smiles Northwest!

I did a search for trauma-informed dentistry near me and the sedationcare.com website came up. Smiles Northwest came up on that search so I called to find out more info. The person on the phone was rude and pushy, saying stuff like "ooohkaay?" and left me hanging. She seemed rather agitated and annoyed that I was even asking questions about something she didn't appear to be aware of. If they don't know anything about trauma-informed dentistry yet show up on the search as such, then they should have simply said so. There are a lot of people who experience trauma and don't particularly like their mouth prodded or feel intense pain when done so. I struggle with sensory processing sensitivity and am trying to find a dentist who understands this. If you also struggle with that, then I don't recommend trying here. The lady on the phone will make you feel like you wasted your time.

We're new in Hillsboro and just did our first visits to Smiles Northwest this past week. We were super impressed with the admin staff as well as the medical professionals. Everyone was friendly and accommodating. The medical team were not rushed and explained everything every step of the way. The dental equipment at the staff's disposal was the more advanced than we were used to at our previous dental office. We are patients for life!

Dr Dotson was very nice and professional, Catie, my new favorite Hygienist, was very patient and in the process of my cleaning, I barely felt anything, Heather was super accommodating and the building is one of a kind, state of the art structure, I wish I would have known about them 5 years ago! I loved the experience and I'm planning on coming back any time I need anything. Thank you guys!!
