Orthodontics gives me the opportunity to provide patients with a better smile, and in most cases, the chance to improve the function of their teeth. I have gotten to know some wonderfully unique people, from our great patients to our awesome staff. Working with different individuals helps me to stay focused and enthusiastic because are all working to achieve a common goal:great smiles and good bites!
I attended the United States Air Force Academy and Rhodes College for my undergraduate education. I continued on to the University of Louisville for dental school, andearnedmy Doctorate of Dental Medicine in 2003. My orthodontic residency and Master of Science were also obtained at the University of Louisville.
Continuing education plays a vital role in providing my patients with the newest and most effective orthodontic treatments. I attend the annual American Association of Orthodontists conference for continuing education to learn about the most recent advances in my field. I am also currently Invisalign certified.
I was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio and completed my undergraduate studies at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. Icompleted my dental training at the University of Louisville, where I met Dr. Gilbertand earned my Doctorate of Dental Medicinewith honors.
I also completed my residency training at the University of Louisville, where I earned a certificate in orthodontics and a masters degree in oral biology. After residency training, I practiced in San Diego,where I met my wifeJacquelyn.
My approach to orthodontics applies the latest technologies, including clear aligners (Invisalign), mini-screw implants, self-ligating braces, and soft-tissue lasers. Orthodontics has seen some major breakthroughs in the last ten years, and Im very passionate about staying on the leading edge of treatment technique, technology, and patient care. I regularly attend the AAO annual meetings, as well asother seminars, and work closely with a network of orthodontists to share ideas and best practices.
I truly want our patients to have fun during the process and be proud of the dynamic smiles that we create together. What inspires me most about this great profession is seeing the lasting, positive impact that a great smile can have on kids and adults alike.
When Im not at the office, Ispendtime with my wifeJacquelynand our two boys, Austin and Bennett. Although we find ourselves at home more these days, we are adventure seekers at heart. We love to travel and try out new activities,from white water rafting and zip lining to racing in half marathons and paddle boarding at the beach. As for less adventurous activities, I enjoy running, cycling, and playing golf.

Both Dr. Gilbert and Dr. Wells are very professional, and the staff is friendly. I started my treatment with Dr. Gilbert for a few visits and then Dr. Wells almost until the end of my treatment. When I was almost at the finish line, a new Orthodontists took over. Even though on previous visits it was discussed that the braces on my bottom teeth (Which are still not fully aligned) were not going to be removed just yet. After talking to the new Orthodontists, it seemed like that decision suddenly changed. So, I got the braces off, at the same time with the top ones. Once removed, I visited my dentist for a cleaning checkup. And I was made aware by the dentist of having a deep pocket on one of the teeth and that it may require periodontic treatment. I visited a periodontist and treatment was recommended due to being at risk of losing my tooth. Once I discussed that outcome with Smiles Forever, they just wiped their hands clean. Did not provide guidance or took my situation seriously. Even though six months before that the deep pocket was not there. It is the same tooth that had a metal brace around it the entire time (Ironic). I honesty was fully satisfied with my treatment until almost the end, but I feel like they did not take my situation seriously. As a consumer it is my responsibility to share my experience in hopes it may help others avoid a situation like the one I am having.

Well organized and very friendly along with highly competent doctors, this office in Duluth holds itself to high standards and excels. I appreciated their concern for my best outcome and could see that they were not trying to get the most money out of me, which I also appreciated. As a new patient, I am very impressed overall with Dr Gilbert and the staff at Smiles Forever!

My visit was a very pleasant experience. They take extra precaution to ensure patients feel safe to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The entire staff made me feel comfortable and answered all my questions. Dr. Gilbert was extremely informative and provided me with great treatment options. Looking forward to my treatment from here.

Still a fantastic experience even after 4 years of not having been here, as I needed to get new retainers since my old ones are worn off. The environment is just as efficient, friendly, and professional as before, and the place itself looks more or less the same to the old Duluth location, just more spacious. COVID precautions were done smoothly, as well!

Overall experience so far is great! Very clean and welcoming environment. I saw dr. Wells for my new patient visit and he was very nice and informational. Definitely going to get my braces done here!

I was told of an sooner appointment an I took it but when I arrived they told me that I would have to reschedule it prior to the scheduler telling me that the it would only be a 30-45 minute procedure exam when I got there I was told that the schedule person didn't know what they were talking about which mean that I can come tomorrow the next day my procedure is a 2-3hours process so I ask about getting my ticket cover she said no unfortunately we don't do that so you're saying I will pay fir parking today and tomorrow totally unacceptable

I was running a little late as I had to drop one child to one location and another to a different location and then go pick them up. They quickly attended to me. X-rays completed within 5min of my arrival and our dentist in my room within 10 min of my arrival. Very pleasant to my son and made him feel comfortable. Definitely a A+ practice. To top it off the 1st assessment was free:)

I would most definitely recommend Smiles Forever to family and friends! I came back after 6 years to get braces on my bottom teeth (after wearing them for YEARS; totally my fault... Not consistently wearing my retainers). Some of the same faces when I got my braces on initially are still working there years later, which was refreshing to see. The friendliness and level of knowledge is still A1! I drive over an hour to get to my appointments and I pass by SEVERAL orthodontist offices on the way. I'm not even interested! That says a lot about them that I commute that far... Both Dr Gilbert and Dr Wells are amazing! You won't go wrong choosing them for your orthodontic needs!

My daughter and I have both got braces at smiles forever and both experiences have been wonderful. The staff is awesome and our teeth look beautiful. They care about there customers for sure. I would recommend anyone who is looking for a adult braces and for of course the kids as well!!! You will not be disappointed.
