Dr. Dan Whiting was born and raised in the shadows of the Rocky Mountains just south of Salt Lake City, Utah. He developed a love of nature and being outdoors through scouting and other family activities. He particularly likes to mountain bike, hike, and fish whenever he gets a chance. When he was 19, he spent two years in Moscow, Russia, serving a mission for his church. While in Moscow, along with learning the culture and language, he had the great fortune to meet fellow missionary Jenny McIntyre, the daughter of Dr. Joe and Becky McIntyre. Following their missions, they attended Brigham Young University where Dr. Whiting was a political science major. However, his marriage introduced him to the world of dentistry and he decided to pursue that career path.He attended dental school at Temple University in Philadelphia and graduated in 2009.

Dr. Whiting and his wife have developed a love of remodeling homes. After 3 house remodels, they have many skills to take their houses to the next level. His family calls them the 'Fixer Uppers' Chip and Joanna Gaines.Dr. Whiting loves to work and he works hard on his projects, and he involves his five children in learning to work. But there is also time for fun and he loves spending time with his children being outdoors on hikes and bike rides, sitting around a campfire, traveling to new destinations and swimming and playing games together. Dr. Whiting also coaches FIRST Lego League robotics teams with his wife Jenny in our community, and he serves generously in his church community and beyond.

Dr. Whiting joined Smiles for Life in August of 2010 and has been an active learner in many different aspects of dentistry. He has received advanced training in cosmetics, implants, orthodontics, sleep disorders, and same day Cereccrowns. He enjoys meeting and helping his patients and working with them, along with the help of his great team, to create a smile that his patients can enjoy for a lifetime.

Dr. Philipp Luschin is originally from Frankfurt, Germany, where he grew up speaking both English and German. Other than German, he also speaks conversational Russian. His last name (pronounced Lu-sheen) is from a Croatian island. His international background instilled a love of traveling in him. So far, he has visited 27 countries and hopes to see many more. Some of the most far flung places he has been are Japan and Kazakhstan.

Philipp completed his undergraduate degree in communications at Brigham Young University. After graduation, he worked in finance before decidingto go back to school for dentistry. Philipp graduated from the University of Utah School of Dentistry, where he gained a wide variety of experience. He is a constant learner and enjoys attending continuing education events to further hone his skills. Dentistry is a profession that brings together some of his favorite things: working one on one with people and applying his artistic and creative skills to solve problems. He loves helping people smile with confidence!

When he is not admiring his patients' teeth in the dental chair, Philipp enjoys spending time with his wife, Tara, and their 3 children outdoors. Whether it is hiking or swimming, as long as the whole family is together, it is always a good time!

Today was my first dentist visit in 22 years. I have always been reluctant to visit the dentist because of the picture I have in my head of visits as a child and experience from 20 years of Navy dentist. None of them pleasant memories. But today I was very pleasantly surprised by the office environment and the people at the Smiles for Life clinic. The visit left me at ease and took away the trepidation I have harbored all these years. I would recommend to anyone who listens to try them, I'm happy I did.

I paid $350 in advance for x/rays and exam and was told that was the one-time fee, but as I was checking out I was told I owed another $120 for the day. I explained what i'd been told before and there was some confusion on the part of the staff but she "fixed" it. Other than that and being "forgotten" and staff assuming I was waiting with someone else for ten minutes it was great! Hygentist was amazing and gentle, reassuring and positive and Dr Mac was so incredible! I feel confident in choosing them for my dental care!

I was seriously worried about how painful getting implants would be. On the day of the operation I was sick to my stomach. But during the procedure I felt nothing. Afterwards Doctor Mcentire rolled my wheelchair out to my car. He called my husband that night to see how I was doing. The whole staff at Smiles For Life are the best. I don't think I have ever had a better dental experience as this one. I would recommend them to anybody looking for a great dental experience.

I was so very nervous about going to talk about dental implants. From the first day that I met Dr. McIntyre and his wonderful staff; I was just "blown away". The caring, well trained, professional and simply nice staff made me feel at ease immediately. They all tell me that Dr. Mac. is a great teacher, which I surely believe. His soft voice; his delicate touch and his amazing kindness are beyond measure. To say that I'm glad I chose Smiles for Life is grossly understated. I am extremely happy with the results of the work done there and I owe them a huge debt of gratitude for their kindness and caring

Both doctors are very gentle. The doctors, and the entire staff go to great lengths to ensure you are comfortable. Both doctors, and the staff are very professional. They have always explained things to my satisfaction and have made many recommendations for my continued improvement. If I've ever had a question or concern Becky Mac and the office team have always offered a prompt solution. I've witnessed the office going above and beyond on multiple occasions for both myself and for others. I've recommended this practice to many people and I will continue to do so. Many of my friends and co-workers have found a new home here. Remember, this is a very convenient location for the South-Harrisonburg/Dayton/Bridgewater/Mt Crawford area.

REVIEW: From Karen Mohler After many years of not seeing a Dentist, due to some very bad experiences I decided to start researching and started getting feedback from the people I was around. I knew I wanted a highly qualified dentist who truly cared about his patients and just wasn't looking to do unnecessary work. I also was looking for a well experienced staff where all the employees truly loved their job and cared for the patient. After much prayer I decided it was going to be Dr. McIntyre at smiles for life. It was Monday August 15, 2022 and I was hurting so bad even in my jaw, so I decided to call them at 4:10 p.m. I spoke with Demi and told her my situation and I just knew that tooth had to come out since over the years it has had so much work on it. She was so kind and caring as to what I was going through and to my amazement she scheduled me to come in the next day at 9:30 a.m. to see Dr. McIntyre. Upon arriving all my paperwork had already been filled out on-line which was great so all she had to do is make a copy of my drivers license and insurance card then I was ask to have a seat and they would be with me shortly. I had no sooner sat down and they called me back, now that's what I call a well organized office. Upon arriving in the back I met Faith who was so very tender and caring, she wanted to make sure I was comfortable and then she started to do my medical history. Once complete she took and ex-ray of the bad tooth. Dr. McIntyre looked at it and said there was no way to save it and that I would also need a bone graft. I found Dr. McIntyre to be so gentle and compassionate and I could tell he wanted to do anything he could to make me comfortable for the procedure so I ask him for some nitrous oxide since I have always had a hard time getting numb. I could tell from his demeanor that I was in good hands. Once completely numb he started the procedure and was always talking with me to make sure I was doing ok. He said for my first visit I made him have to work very hard at getting that molar tooth out and it truly did take sometime to get it out but he made me feel important and very comfortable and I truly appreciated his tenderness, and for the first time I was so thankful to be with a knowledgeable, caring, gentle, sincere and honest dentist who I feel would do anything to make sure his patients get the best treatment possible. (He was really joking with me when he said I was really making him work hard on this job). Please forgive me for such a long review, but when you come across a genuine dentist that cares for each and every patient it's hard not too get excited and let others know that Smiles for life is by far a five plus practice. This was a difficult tooth extraction and Dr. McIntyre really had his job cut out on me. However, I can say with all honesty I was not in one bit of pain the entire time. I go back on August 30, 2022 to get the sutures removed and to discuss what my choices are to get my mouth in a little better shape. Upon checking out I thought it was the sweetest thing they gave me a $25.00 gift card and two homemade muffins one for my Husband since he sat there all that time. My Husband is very observant and he told me that he took notice of how well things were running in the office and that he was very impressed that he wants to start seeing Dr. McIntyre. Take it from someone who has had many bad experiences with dental practices, if you are looking for the BEST place to get your dental work done than look no further than Smiles for Life in Bridgewater Va. I just wanted to add upon leaving they said if for any reason you have any questions or difficulties I could call Dr. McIntyre on his personal cell phone, now that's impressive. Thank you everyone for the best dental experience I have had and I'm 61 so it's long overdue. I will definitely be sharing and letting others know about Smiles for Life. God Bless you all and thank you. Sincerely, Mrs. Karen Mohler.
