He began his private practice in Salisbury, MD after completing his military service.
Continued professional study helps Dr. Heher remain at the forefront of modern dentistry. He has taken thousands of hours of post-graduate training both nationally and internationally in cosmetic dentistry, sleep disorder therapy, alleviation of dental apprehension, restorative dentistry, nonsurgical periodontal therapy, cranial osteopathy, preventive dentistry, and nutrition. Every year, Dr. Heher exceeds the minimum continuing education requirements required by the Maryland State Board of Dental Examiners.
In 2009, Dr. Heher was invited to join the Deans Faculty at the University of Marylands Baltimore College of Dental Surgery, where he continues to share his expertise with an upcoming generation of new dentists. In October of 2010, Dr. Hehers skill was acknowledged by Whats Up? Eastern Shore magazine in a confidential survey of dentists from throughout the entire Eastern Shore of Maryland for his quality of dental care. Unlike other best of listings which tend to be popularity contests favoring larger dental practices, he was the only general dentist selected by his peers from the lower Eastern Shore area. At the 86th Convocation of the International College of Dentists held in Washington, DC, 310 dentists from across the country were inducted. Dr. Heher was the only dentist inducted from the Delmarva Peninsula.

Heher, a graduate of the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery of the University of Maryland, has focused his career on providing cutting-edge, cosmetic and microscopic dentistry in a warm, welcoming atmosphere that is designed specifically for the care of apprehensive patients.
He is a member of the Deans Faculty at the University of Maryland Dental School, where he teaches clinical skills to future dentists. Dr. Heher is the previous president of the Maryland Chapter of the American Society of Preventive Dentistry and the Eastern Shore Dental Society. He is the long-time president of the Salisbury Dental Study Club.
Dr. Heher has been married for over 50 years and has one daughter. In his spare time, his hobbies include photography, music, and dentistry. Dr. Heher realizes dentistry usually is not considered a hobby, but his passion for his profession makes it an intrinsic and enduring part of his life.
