People will forget what you said, people will forget what you did, but people will never forget how you made them feel. Since I opened my practice 15 years ago, I have always wanted to make people feel like they are welcome, from the moment they walk in the door.
Dr. Mary C. Trahar-Thomas grew up in Annapolis. And while she has travelled the world to pursue advanced degrees in orthodontics and pediatric dentistry, Annapolis will always be her home. Thats why, when she was ready to open her first orthodontic practice in 2004, she returned to Annapolis and launched Smiles by the Bay.
Dr. Mary C. Trahar-Thomas grew up in Annapolis and attended Saint Marys School. She graduated with her bachelors degree from The American University in Washington, D.C. and received her dental degree from the University of Maryland at Baltimore in 1996.
Following dental school, Dr. Trahar-Thomas was a commissioned officer in the United States Air Force. She attended a residency program in Advanced Education in General Dentistry at Bolling Air Force Base in Washington, D.C. before serving at Kadena Air Base, Okinawa, Japan, where she supervised a pediatric dental clinic.
After serving with the Air Force, Dr. Trahar-Thomas attended a combined specialty program in pediatric dentistry and orthodontics at the University of California, Los Angeles, where she published her clinical research paper on distraction osteogenesis in The American Journal of Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics.

Its also an incredible experience to be able to help a family in this way. When a child qualifies for orthodontic coverage under Maryland Health Smiles, that means theyll be able to get the orthodontic treatment they need for no out-of-pocket cost.
And we get to tell her, Nothing. Nada. Zero. Your childs going to be able to have that beautiful smile theyve always hoped for, which youve always wanted to provide for your child. And its not going to be burdensome at all because youre not going to pay anything.

I have called multiple times to get my child an appointment cause his wires are off his braces. The answer is always we do not have any openings. I offer to go to denton or kent Island and still nothing. I told them my child was in terrible pain cause the wire was cutting into the tissue of the inside of his check, they still wouldn't see us. I called again to them my child pulled the wire out due to pain they still didn't care. I find it unbelieve that a orthodontist doesn't have holes in her schedule to help a child when a problem arises with braces

Do NOT take your child here. They're all about removing adult teeth to treat crowding, which is a horrible practice. Also, the staff is rude. My son and I walked out of his last appointment. Two of his braces fell off during brushing after having them on for less than 24 hours. We showed up to have them fixed, waited in the waiting room for 15 minutes, which wouldn't have been a big deal if the hygienist didn't try to rush through the appointment and even told my son she only had 5 minutes to do his repair so he needed to cooperate--this is right after she snapped the mouth stretcher in his mouth even though I told her last time it didn't fit and his lips were cracked and bleeding from it. Dr. Trahar barely communicated with us at any of our 3 visits. When I asked for further explanation on why removal of permanent teeth was the only option, I was repeated told "no one will ever notice he doesn't have all of his teeth aside from his dentist." Which didn't answer my question at all. Save yourself and your child some grief and take them elsewhere.

Wonderful and friendly staff! Office is clean and comfy, they gave us a tour at our consultation. Very helpful from the very beginning. Dr. Trahar and her staff are very friendly and communicative about the procedures. I wish my older daughter had been able to have her braces experience here!

Dr. Trahar is great and the staff is amazing. The office is always beautiful and clean. They are extremely prompt with appointments...it's been a great experience so far...highly recommended!
