We believe that access to quality healthcare is fundamentally important to building strong communities in Maryland. Thats why we are proud to participate in the Maryland Healthy Smiles program in all of our offices.

Not every orthodontic practice accepts this type of insurance, but we think its an important part of doing business in this community. Its also an incredible experience to be able to help a family in this way. When a child qualifies for orthodontic coverage under Maryland Health Smiles, that means theyll be able to get the orthodontic treatment they need for no out-of-pocket cost.

And we get to tell her, Nothing. Nada. Zero. Your childs going to be able to have that beautiful smile theyve always hoped for, which youve always wanted to provide for your child. And its not going to be burdensome at all because youre not going to pay anything.

I would not recommend Smiles by the Bay. My daughter was a patient there. The orthodontic care was decent, but nothing that couldn't be obtained elsewhere. They advertise retainers for life, but they don't stand behind it. We were specifically told when my daughter got her braces off that if her retainers broke, got lost, etc. that it wasn't a problem. She could get new retainers for life at no cost to us even if we lived out of state. We knew we were moving so we clarified this at that time. Ha! I called today because both retainers have cracks in them. I was told that they no longer do that. Oh, and their website STILL advertises retainers for life. The moral of the story, if you're thinking about going here for that benefit, DON'T because it's a lie!!

I am a patient and I do not advise anyone to start their treatment here. They should not be accepting new patients if they are so busy that they cannot treat their current patients properly. I had an Invisalign attachment fall off (this attachment is crucial to the movement of my teeth) and they told me I had to wait to two months to have it glued back on, in order to continue my treatment! The orthodontist I went to years ago, would have me scheduled within the week if something like this happened. It truly only takes AT MOST 5 minutes to glue it on, and they without hesitation, put my entire treatment on hold for months. This happened after waiting over 7 weeks for an appointment to get my second round of trays, when the trays had come in within 3 weeks. so in total.. this sets my treatment back 3 months and who knows how long I'll have to wait for my next set of trays or retainers. My 1 star has nothing to do with the quality of the orthodontic treatment but all to do with the poor management of time and scheduling. I will be looking into changing providers...

I just called to reschedule my daughter's appointment( would have been her first appointment),because she was sent home from school today because she was exposed to another child that had COVID. I was put on hold then I was told that her appointment could not be reschedule because I had already rescheduled once(I had to end up working). Explain that this is out of my control, and I couldn't help that there was an exposure at school. I was then told sorry, but the provider's time is important and they can't afford for a whole bunch of people to call reschedule. Policy is Policy! I am a supervisor for a surgical, wound care, and infectious disease office(all the providers time is extremely important),however I would never tell a patient that the provider's time is important. If it's a situation that can't be help,we work with the patient. So hopefully you never have to reschedule more than once or twice, and it's out of your control. Not everbody call and reschedule appointments just BECAUSE.

Took my teenage son in for his first visit to have his braces put on. We were met with a very helpful and friendly reception. My son was taken back very quickly, and I was told it would take about an hour. Due to COVID, I was asked to please wait in my car and I would be called when he was ready. I left feeling very anxious as my son was not looking forward to it. I received a call in less than an hour, and went back in the office expecting to find my son less than happy. When I arrived, I was brought back to discuss the procedure, as well as instructions for my son's care, going forward. I was pleasantly surprised to find my son in good spirits. The information I was given was very thorough and I was given ample time to ask questions. My son and I both felt good upon leaving that we knew what to expect in the coming months. Very pleased with the operation and look forward to continuing our visits!

BEST ORTHODONTIST AROUND!!! Everyone who works here is the absolute sweetest and you can tell they genuinely care about each and every one of their patients. Dr. Trahar's technique is especially reputable, as she works so hards to make sure every little detail is precisely perfect. If you are looking for a new ortho, this is the place to come!!
