Taking over my father's practice in 2000, Icannot imagine a more fulfilling profession. I like to believe that I make patients more comfortable here than they could be anywhere else, from the digital models to the way Iplace braces, to the aligners we make, I focus on gentle and reliabletreatment. I also combine treatment options that no one else in the world provides.
Im glad to be practicing orthodontics in my home town and love being a part of this community. My wife, Katie, and I have 2 kids, Ryan and Owen, and a dog, Grissom. I love both dogs and cats and I have volunteered with various animal organizations.
I still regularly see my friends fromSt. Viator High School. I an active member ofChicago Dental Society, currently serving on the Board of Directors. Orthodontics is a profession that mixes art and science like no other, but it is the connections with my patients that make my job truly worthwhile. The one-on-one relationships that I build here make my work that much more fascinating and enjoyable. I always look forward to patients returning after treatment to let me know what they are doing.
After graduating from Saint Viator High School I attended the University of Notre Dame and received a Bachelors of Science degree. I then pursued a Doctor of Dental Surgery at Northwestern University. My last university was Saint Louis University where I went through a residency in orthodontics and received a Master of Science in Dentistry.
This education has provided with the desire to be a perpetual student!To provide our patients with advanced levels of carerequires nothing less! Ikeep abreast of the latest orthodontic methods and technologies and Iroutinely help coordinate continuing education courses. I a member of the The Illinois Society of Orthodontists and The American Association of Orthodontist, both organizations offer a wide range of continuing education opportunities.
I also sponsor continuing education courses for general dentists and dental hygienists. I believe the more doctors that are knowledgable about treatment, the better patients will be guided tocomfortable, quality care.

I have been with Smiles By Smoron for several years, they are amazing, always on time, professional, GREAT customer service. Today Jen, did a huge favor for me, My daughter Ava's flash disk got lost in the mail from Dr. Smoron's office to Chicago Surgical office. I was to pick up another copy from Dr. Smoron's office today to make my daughter's app which is tomorrow. When I spoke with Jen I told her I can't leave work so I might have to reschedule tomorrow's app. Jen called me back and said I will drive and drop off the disk at Dr. Spina's office so you can keep your daughter's app tomorrow. I had braces as a teen from Dr Smoron Sr. and it was an easy decision to make to go back to Smiles by Smoron when my daughter needed braces. Throughout her treatment, the staff kept us informed of all next steps and where things were at with her progress. Not only were they so communicative with us, but everyone we ever encountered from her consultation through all the appointments were super friendly and flexible to our needs. My daughter just got her braces off yesterday 4/7/21 and we couldn't be happier with the results! We appreciate everything!!!! Thank you!
