Hi, Im Dr. Payet, and Ive been a Charlotte dentist ever since 1998. I moved here after undergrad (Class of 94) and dental school at the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Dentistry (Class of 98). While not a native Tar Heel, I have deep roots in the state: my mother grew up in Albemarle, my dad went to Chapel Hill, and most of my family is in North Carolina. At heart, I am a true-blue Tar Heel!
Some may think it odd that I love being a dentist, but seriouslyI do! Every day is different, every patient is unique and special, and there is ALWAYS more to learn. I get to have fun doing what I do. Ive attended many of the top post-graduate institutes for Continuing Education, usually completing 50-100 hours of advanced training per year.
A few years after opening my practice, I recorded this video, talking about how I chose dentistry as a career. My orthodontist during high school, Dr. Constance Connie Greeley, was a tremendous influence. I also got to talk about what I love most about being a dentist, and why its so rewarding. Nearly 20 years later, it still holds true. If only I still looked that young though!
I am fortunate and blessed to have three special women in my life: my wife Fara and our daughters, Natalie and Elizabeth, who keep us very busy. Add in our dogs Molly & Hershey, and we have a full home life.
Besides spending quality time with my family and taking care of you, I have several hobbies: photography, reading, learning to play piano again, Shaolin Kung Fu at The Peaceful Dragon, & cooking. I wish I had more time for ballroom dancing and singing.
You know how University Professors, when they retire, they are still recognized as being a Professor Emeritus, which means they had achieved a high level or recognition when they retired? Well, thats what this section is about. Hopefully it will never get to have too many people in it, but it seems like something nice to recognize the loyalty and hard work of people with whom we spent so much time.
Rosie worked with Dr. Payet longer than anyone else during 2 separate periods with our office. She took an unplanned break from the office when she broke her ankle a few years ago, but we (and all our patients!) were so glad when she came back.
For Rosie, dental assisting is much more than just a job its a passion and fulfilling career that started when a hometown dentist challenged her to believe in herself. An Arizona native who dearly loves her family, close friends, watching movies, she also wishes she could make every day a Happy Chocolate Day!
Sadly (for us at least), at the end of 2014, Rosie decided to move home to Arizona to spend more time with her 3 sons, her 4 grandchildren, and to help care for her aging mother. After 5 years of working together, I depended on Rosie so much, its hard to describe, and all of us here miss her. We wish her the best, and even though we know it wont happen, she knows that if she gets tired of too much time with family and Arizonas too hot, shes always welcome back. But for her years of hard work, dedication, and passion, Rosie is hereby awarded our very first Lifetime Honorary Employee award.
We understand that it can be a bit scary to walk into an office youve never seen before, so heres an opportunity to see our office first. Were proud to be one of the first dentists in Charlotte to have an official Google Street View Tour of our office available, so cmon in, take a look around, and hopefully youll like what you see. We recently (Fall 2013) renovated our Reception Area and are still decorating, but weve gotten a lot of compliments on the new super-comfy sofas.

Dr. Payet and all his staff are wonderful! I seen him in 2013 for six month smiles which changed my life and now I'm seeing him again! From his knowledge to the newest technology you will not be disappointed! I love how confident he is in his work and how he makes you feel extremely comfortable!

I was really putting off going to the dentist because of the cost, and guilt of putting it off until I was in such pain that I was forced to go. I had called other offices, but none would "fit" me in before several days... Until I called Payet Family Dentistry, they made a next day appt. and informed me ahead of time of the approximate cost.. When I went into the office, which was clean and casual I was pleased, and after filling out some simple new patient documents, I was immediately called back. PDQ! Upon meeting the Dental Assistant/Technician I was immediately put at ease, Dr. Payet, completely "absolved" me of Dental guilt, and went straight to work. I was amazed at the technology and their compassion and humor. At the end Fara and the other receptionist were so great about explaining the Insurance process, and provided a detailed Dental Plan with pricing and options. I highly recommend Dr. Payet who is passionate about his patients, good dental health and education.
