You might say that Dr. Hazen Gilliland was born to be a dentist. Her father, Dr. Ray, is a successful prosthodontist, loved by his many patients. So it was no surprise when she graduated from Indiana University School of Dentistry and earned her Doctorate of Dental Surgery in 2006. Today, shes an active member of the Florida Dental Association (ADA), Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), the International Congress of Oral Implantologists (ICOI), and a fellow of the Academy of GP Orthodontics. When she is not going above and beyond learning about the best treatments for her patients, Dr. Hazen Gilliland also enjoys traveling, running and spending time with her husband, children, and their two standard poodles.

One of the most fullling aspects of Dr. Hazen Gillilands career is empowering her patients through education on the care and treatment of their teeth and gums. Promoting optimal dental health in a fun, comfortable atmosphere is why she smiles.

Between all my families dental work this place has taken me for $14k in the last year. I figured I'd get my teeth looked at too so I made an appointment. I took off work and arrived at the office at the time of my appointment. When I got there the front office lady told me the appointment was cancelled and they had left text messages(didn't get any messages). the front office person then went into the back and explained what had happened to Hazen... She then came back and told me there was nothing they could do for me but reschedule.... I've never had this happen in my life... Complete waste of my time and totally unprofessional.

Storytime. I don't know too many people that are excited about going to the dentist and neither am I. I've been at the the dentist everyday this week as a new patient. Those that really know me, know how I am about my teeth & oral health. When I tell y'all I was so depressed when I left, @SmilesByHazen on Monday, it would be an understatement. Not, because of anything they did (other than give me the bill) because they are a stellar establishment, but because my mouth condition. On the surface I have a beautiful smile & teeth, but lurking was bacteria (that could cause heart disease &/diabetes), bone loss, enamel loss, onset periodontal disease on 1 side of my back tight teeth, 1 cavity under a crown & 1 tooth that had to be extracted last year this time due to a crab leg, that's getting an implant. The staff @SmilesByHazen, has been phenomenal. The bedside manner of Dr. Hazen, is on 10. The entire staff, from the front to the back, superb: Ms. Belinda, Mr. Rick, Heather2, Bonnie & Dominique; along with a beautiful facility. My treatments started immediately after the exam. I've had: ozone treatments (smells like chlorine), lasered gums, descaling, deep cleaning & natural probiotic toothpaste, mouthwash & herbs to aid in my healthy mouth journey. Oh, and no more kissing Teddy (my furry baby). Don't judge me, judge your self. My husbae & my mother, have been a comfort to me, to include the jokes. My mouth is already getting better/healthier. Crown work & filling next week. I can't stand that drilling. Y'all pray for me. As a new patient, I am beyond excited about my new dental provider.

I was not provided a cost for the procedure and have already sunk almost $3k into the tooth and they want $1400+ more! No way! That was several years ago and after an office procedural change and many Awesome appointments since the communications and care has been the Best I have received in decades. Dr. Hazen was very apologetic for the original miscommunication and it has never happened again. She is a caring and attentive dentist and makes sure you are well informed in proper mouth care and does not recommend needless procedures. UPDATE: this was a misunderstanding due to a change in office staff. Since then Dr. Hazen has made up for this situation and I have never had better care of my teeth! Dr. Hazen is amazing, kind, and very thorough to help maintain ones health! Dr. Hazen continues to be a dentist that cares and is good at what she does.

Question to everyone: If I offer to paint your house for an estimated $1000... do it, take the $1000 & not say anything further... only to come back & demand another $1500 3mths after the fact... or threaten to put a lien on your property... is that OK? Ms. Hazen believes that because the word "estimate" was on the bill... she CAN do exactly that. Here are the Facts. I want You to be the judge: 1) over the past 2+yrs, I've paid every single "estimate"(no less than 8-10x). 2) About 1mth ago, I recv'd a bill for $1408... out of the blue w/no explanation. 3) The office mgr. advised me that the person handling their coding/billing for the past 2+ yrs wasn't following the proper steps w/regards to billing insurance providers. 4)Apparently, this $1408 was a total of the incorrect "estimates" provided to me for the services rendered. 5) When I questioned the generic invoice & requested to meet each other somewhere in the middle, I was told by the office mgr. that she asked Ms. Hazen & she declined anything but the full amount. 6) The office mgr then admitted to me that she would be furious if this happened to her. My Advice to You: If you value trust & honesty in your Healthcare provider, I would recommend another dentist. While the work provided was acceptable, Ms. Hazen as severely lacking in both the ability to run a stand up business, as well as be a stand up individual. No wonder much of her staff has shared their feelings of unhappiness in employment w/me. I feel terrible for the elderly and/or single mothers that go to this office on a fixed or limited income. It's truly a shame. What happened to me will undoubtedly happen to others. Please don't let it be you it happens to.

I have a friend that went here. Said they were terrible. They charged him an outrageous amount of money due to things not be filed promptly. Very unprofessional

I have been going to Smiles by Hazen for a number of years now. They have very competently been handling my teeth cleaning and gum health management. I have some particular mouth concerns that they have addressed over the years. I consider them to be my partner in dental health.

Ever since I had a bad experience years ago, I'm a big baby when it comes to getting any work done on my teeth beyond regular cleanings. When I moved up here, I was concerned about finding a good dentist with updated equipment and a gentle touch. I've had a couple issues and happy to say Dr Hazen and her staff have been terrific in every way and provide nitro to calm my nerves too. I highly recommend this dentist.

I was hoping they'd call me back, but of course not. They bill my insurance to get the most out of it before the year ends, but completely disregarded my broken tooth that is stuck in my gum. However, they did everything else that they could get money for. Not to mention they put a spacer between my teeth in the back and it's been hurting ever since, but no one will return my calls to have work done.... Why? Because the last time someone there told me it's not on my treatment plan. I have great insurance but can't get my teeth cleaned either so I can get my braces, which you were aware of the day I walked in. I will NEVER go back! Keep the X-rays.

I have been going to Smile Expressions since 2011 and I'm so glad I found them. Everyone in Dr. Hazen's office is not only professional but also very friendly - something that doesn't happen very often. Going to the dentist is not usually thought of as a pleasant experience but they make it a comfortable one and I definitely appreciate that!

Couldn't be happier with Dr. Hazen. I never had a more thorough exam before. She was professional, yet personable enough. Her staff was excellent as well. Thank you Dominique, Heather and Gianna.

Recommend that phone staff be instructed to ask all new patients, when they make their first appointment, whether or not they need antibiotic prophylaxis. Call in a prescription--enough for at least a year of visits. Need to change address on all social media and inform new patients of the change until everything on social media has been changed. I assume current Pago were already notified. Have office staff inform new patients to expect a 1.5-2hr appointment for the first visit.

Hands down the best dentist I've been to. Staff is pleasant and professional, wonderfully empathetic - Always ensuring my comfort level was the highest possible and any questions I had were answered. Perfectly on time and (this is a great touch) an itinerary of all upcoming appointments. The new office is spacious and comfortable. Dr Hazen is fantastic!

My wife and I switched to Smile Expressions, from another dental practice, shortly after it opened. We've been delighted with the quality of treatment, accommodating staff and always inviting office environment.
