Dr. Ron Kaminer is a 1990 graduate of the State University of NY at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. After completing a two year post graduate residency at North Shore University Hospital, Dr. Kaminer started practicing in Lawrence, where he practiced for over 12 years before moving to his state-of-the-art Hewlett location. He also maintains a second practice in Oceanside.
Having always prided himself on being ahead of the curve and state-of-the-art care, Dr. Kaminer was one of the first 100 dentists in the U.S in 1993 to use a hard tissue laser in his practice. Since then, Dr. Kaminer went on to create training courses for numerous Dental laser companies and is considered to be an international laser expert by his peers. He has lectured nationally and internationally on a variety of topics relating to Dental Lasers, technology and minimally invasive Dentistry. He is a clinical consultant for many manufacturers and is an associate editor for the Dental Product Shopper magazine. He does all this while practicing an average of 42 hours per week.
Dr Kaminer prides himself in giving his patients the best of state-of-the-art care Dentistry has to offer. He has also a few Hollywood credits to his name as the sound from the movie 'Novocaine' was shot in his office. He has also appeared on the Lifetime channel as a Dental expert and has been featured in MSN Money and the Orlando Sentinel. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Academy of General Dentistry, and numerous other Dental organizations. He also lives locally, with his wife and three children and serves on the board of numerous charitable organizations.
Dr. Jessica Klein achieves clinical excellence in restorative, cosmetic and implant dentistry for patients of all ages. She is an avid user of both digital and laser technology to help improve the dental and oral health of her patients. Dr. Klein is Invisalign certified and can provide minor tooth movement through clear aligners to help create the perfect smile.
Dr. Klein has been praised by her patients for her gentle touch and pleasant disposition. She believes that it is important to take the time to listen to her patients and ensure that they feel comfortable and relaxed in the dental chair.
Dr. Klein is committed to staying current on the latest techniques and procedures in dentistry. She believes that continuing education is important for both her and her patients. Dr. Klein recently completed a yearlong mini residency in Dental Sleep Medicine at Tufts University. This specialized training gives her expertise in creating dental appliances to treat both snoring and sleep apnea, creating overall health and well-being for her patients.
Dr. Klein earned her doctorate in dentistry from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. She completed a general practice residency at the NJ Veterans Hospital in Lyons, NJ where she had the opportunity to learn from a variety of specialists and be involved in both challenging and complex cases. Dr. Klein graduated with a B.A. in Neuroscience from Barnard College, Columbia University in New York City.
Dr. Esther Penn is passionate about changing lives through meticulous comprehensive Dental care. After graduating SUNY @ Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine, Dr Penn completed a one-year general practice residency at Long Island Jewish medical center. In a desire to pursue a degree in Prosthodontics, Dr Penn continued her studies at the Veterans Administration Medical Center. After receiving her Prosthodontic degree, Dr. Penn stayed on at the V.A. for a second specialty degree in Maxillo- facial Prosthetics. This program offered her advanced training and clinical expertise in all aspects of full mouth rehabilitation and implant Dentistry while mastering the art of complete prosthodontic care. Dr. Penn is in an elite class of a small number Maxillo- facial Prosthodontists nationwide. She has been practicing Prosthodontics for over 25 years and is a respected author and key opinion leader.
Dr. Melissa Rosenfeld is the principal health care provider at Oceanside Family Dental. She has been part of the Oceanside community since 1994. After receiving her doctorate she graduated from the Advanced Placement program at the New York University Dental School. She then completed a two-year residency as an intern and as chief resident at Peninsula Hospital Center. She also received extensive and advanced training during a two-year program in Comprehensive Implant Dentistry at New York University. The curriculum included surgical techniques for dental implants, as well as implant prosthetic reconstruction. Dr. Rosenfeld received postgraduate training in advanced periodontal therapy at Bronx/Montefiore Medical Center.
In the past two decades she has expanded her practice of implant and esthetic dentistry by adding the treatment of full facial cosmetics. This new chapter not only includes advanced esthetic dentistry but also the use of botulinum toxins, fillers and PDO threads. This results in a more comprehensive, patient friendly, and more satisfactory treatment. The use of different lasers has been integrated into our practice for a more holistic approach to facial esthetics, conservative dentistry, snoring and sleep apnea.
The science of Sleep apnea and snoring is of special interest for the treatment of all her patients. As specialists of the oral and dental condition, well trained dentists are on the front line of innovative and non invasive solutions for obstructive sleep disorders. We now know these have been associated with multiple and serious conditions including diabetes, obesity, and heart disease Dr. Rosenfeld is accredited and a certified member of the American Association of Facial Esthetics, Dental Sleep Medicine, Nobel Biocare Implants and Fotona Medical Lasers.
She maintains an integral role in local organizations such as UJA, Hadassah, and the Central Council of the Board of Education for her children's school. When not at the office Dr. Melissa Rosenfeld spends time with her husband and two daughters in their Hewlett home.

Dr. Thierry Abitbol has practiced the dental specialty of periodontics since 1990. He earned his bachelor's degree at the University of Pennsylvania and attended Boston University for his doctoral and postdoctoral training. As a board-certified periodontist, Dr. Abitbol is an established expert in his field. Dr. Abitbol has also maintained high quality of patient care by combining private practice with other activities, which have included: a teaching position at New York University Dental School, lecturers presented nationally and internationally, scientific publications, and product development and research for a major dental materials company. Dr. Abitbol is an associate fellow of the American Academy of Implant Dentistry. As with the board certification in periodontics, credentialing in the field of implant dentistry is awarded to a handful of professionals who have passed rigorous written and oral examinations. When he is not practicing Dr. Abitbol likes to spend time at his Hewlett home with his wife and two children.
Dr. Mark Zafir achieves clinical excellence in restorative, cosmetic and implant dentistry for patients of all ages. With the use of digital and laser technology he is able to provide more conservative and effective options for his patients dental health. He has extensive training in endodontics and fixed and implant dentistry. Dr. Zafir is Invisaline certified to help create the perfect smile. Dr. Zafir received his D.D.S. degree from New York University College of Dentistry after receiving his BA at Touro College. He continued his training in general dentistry at Coney Island Hospital in Brooklyn.

After dealing with numerous unprofessional and careless dentists, finding Smiles by Design was simply a blessing. I am always greeted with a smile at the front desk and the wait times are minimal. The hygienists and dentists are very knowledgeable and explain every single thing they are doing to your teeth and give you advice on how to keep your mouth healthy for years to come.

After many years of inadequate dental care, Dr. Kaminer's office has been a blessing. Their professionalism, care, efficiency, and execution are flawless from the front desk, to the hygienists, to the doctors themselves. Highly recommend their practice to anyone looking for quality care.

Been going there for years and they were very good in the beginning. The 2 stars are for the people helping run the place as the people that work there are very nice. But the last few times, my teeth have been hurting after I get work done for way too long. I never had this problem before. It truly feels like my teeth only hurt after I go there, never before. It's currently 3 weeks after my cavity filling and I still feel discomfort when I eat and this isn't the first time this happened. I won't be returning.

Smiles by Design is a great office located in Hewlett. Ashley and the entire front office staff make you feel right at home and seamlessly coordinate all appointments and dental needs. Everything is on time and it is an extremely professionally run office. Dr. Kaminer and the entire staff at Smiles by Design show nothing but courtesy and professionalism while providing the highest quality of care. After suffering from TMJ pain for over 10 years and being told that there was nothing else that could be done by multiple dentists, I decided to try botox therapy at Smiles by Design. Every staff member at Smiles by Design is so kind, helpful and welcoming. Dr. Kaminer was so kind and sat down with me and explained each step of the procedure, and answered any questions or concerns that I had. The procedure took less than twenty minutes and was completely painless. I immediately noticed a difference in my jaw and by the second treatment I couldn't believe how much better I felt. I spent years in pain with headaches, broken teeth, and ear aches and I since my first botox treatment my pain is completely gone! I am so incredibly grateful for Dr. Kaminer and the entire staff at Smiles by Design!

Dr Kaminer from Smiles by Design - Hewlett did an excellent job on my dental implant crowns. Not only did he recommend a fantastic surgeon to help with a complicated procedure of removing and replacing old and weak dental implants, but he followed up every step of the way until it was his turn to create and place the new crowns, which are second to my front teeth (lateral incisors). The look and feel completely natural, blend in with my real teeth perfectly and I couldn't be happier. I would absolutely recommend Dr Kaminer for your cosmetic dental needs.

Great dentist!! The staff here is very friendly and they are very thorough with their cleanings. Previously I had another dentist who botched my front teeth after I had to have them filled in after an accident. After coming here I decided to finally go through with getting my porcelain veneers here and I'm glad i did. They came out so great and natural!! I no longer have to feel embarrassed about my smile. I definitely recommend for anyone who is looking to get veneers and wants to make sure they are done nicely ! I posted a picture of my before and after

I have had the best experience since I started seeing Dr Kaminer ! First off the front desk is absolutely amazing. They completely worked with my schedule and Ashley has made it so comforting and easy for me every step of the way! The entire staff is beyond attentive and constantly making sure I was comfortable after every single procedure. From consultation, X-rays to my first cleaning it has been nothing but a walk in the park. I decided to trust Dr Kaminer to make sure I had the perfect teeth for my wedding and I did !! I have been shopping around for a long time, and I am so happy with my decision! Worth the Wait!

Dr Ron Kaminer (smiles by design) I have been using him for over 30 years! (This will date me but it's worth it) To say the best would be a great understatement. He is an expert, a true expert! when you are sitting in his chair you can't help but feel well taken care of. He and his staff are kind and compassionate. Extremely professional. I am extremely nervous and they work hard to keep me comfortable. From the moment you walk in the door you feel well taken care of. I have had simple to extensive work done and always with professionalism. The women by the front desk are kind and have been with him from the early years of practice (that says a great deal about the Dr himself) Don't overthink it. You won't regret it!

I have about 2000 reviews written on Google and approximately 2 million views on my pictures You definitely don't want to miss this one. I don't think I've ever been more proud to give a five-star review to an organization. This isn't one of the, it's THE BEST DENTAL SERVICE period. I have the experience to truly say that. Dr Kaminer runs a tight ship with only the best staff. An extremely bright man that genuinely cares. Somewhat recently he had brought in DR. ESTHER PENN from Queens. She is the most competent capable and naturally talented dentist I HAVE EVER HAD.. she is nothing short of an All-Star in her prime. (Thank you for making sure i have such a beautiful smile) Even the assistants are wonderful like Susan. Even the secretaries are incredible there.

Staff is very unprofessional and don't know how to speak to customers!! Their service is ok, I paid full price for half a service (my orthodontist said what he asked to be done wasn't done properly). Furthermore I don't think most of the 5 star reviews are honest. Be sure to get as much information as you'd like before booking an appointment with this office

I switched to this dentist office after losing my crown in June. The office was in the process of reopening for COVID operations, so it took some time to get registered and get an appointment. It was definitely worth the wait. I initially came in for a cleaning and assessment, with a second appointment to address my crown to follow. My next visit was with Dr. Klein, who was very kind, patient and thorough. Vicki, her assistant, was just as amazing to work with. They both have great 'chair-side manner', and worked well together while working on me. I was able to get a temporary crown in place, and I'll be returning soon to finish up and complete the replacement. Office and Staff: Everyone was so welcoming. Although everyone was donning masks, I could see the smiling eyes of everyone I encountered. The reception desk staff are courteous, friendly and work quickly to get you processed and on your way. COVID Safety: Smiles by Design Hewlett goes above and beyond to ensure your safety. Masks are worn at all times by staff, and precautions are taken to ensure there is never a crowded waiting area. Their intake procedure is well thought out and well managed. You text or call when you arrive, wait comfortably in your car, and receive a text or call when they are ready to receive you in the office. I'm really happy with my decision to switch to Smiles by Design Hewlett. I highly recommend doing the same.
