After serving in the United States army, Dr. Cobbins, a native of Blackhawk, MS, completed his undergraduate studies at Mississippi State University with a BS degree in Microbiology. He received his Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from Meharry Medical College and went on to complete an advanced education in general dentistry at the University of Mississippi Medical Center School of Dentistry.

Shortly after completing his formal education and training,Dr. Preston L. Cobbinsopened Cobbins Family Dentistry in the historic district of downtown Canton, MS. His mission was and is to provide high quality dental care to citizens and visitors of the State of Mississippi. In 2002 the practice was incorporated and became SmileBuilders, Inc. where Dr. Cobbins works as president and dentist. Expericing tremendous growth, Dr. Cobbinsand SmileBuilders, Inc.moved in June 2006 to the current location: 1863 Hwy 43 S. in Canton, MS. Dr. Cobbins is on staff at Madison River Oaks Medical Center and he is also a Clinical Instructor at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
