Smile Suite is a modern, state-of-the-art practice offering Maui County area patients a full-range of general and cosmetic dental services, from routine check-ups to complete smile makeovers. Dr. Kawahara and Dr. Girard practice conservative, proactive dentistry utilizing the latest in dental technology. Your comfort is always a primary concern.
Dr Kelly Kawahara , born and raised on Maui, graduated from Baldwin High School in 1996 and went on to receive a bachelor degree in Biochemistry with a minor in Chemistry from the University of Colorado at Boulder in 2000. She then attended Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston and graduated with a Doctorate of Dental Medicine in 2005. She and Dr. Girard were married in 2006 and have been working for a group practice until opening their own private practice in 2015.
Dentistry is an actively evolving science and Dr Kawahara has taken over 250 hours of continuing education courses so that she may offer the latest in restorative and cosmetic dentistry, orthodontics, removable and fixed prosthodontics, and implant restoration. She is a member of the American Dental Association, Hawaii Dental Association, Maui County Dental Society, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, International Association of Dentists, and The National Association of Professional Women. In 2014, she was voted one of Hawaiis Best Dentist by her peers.
Growing up on Maui, Dr. Kawahara knew no matter how far her studies took her she would always return home to raise her own family, surrounded by the rich, deeply rooted culture and beauty of her island home. She looks forward to serving the people of Maui and strives to create a comfortable and relaxed environment to administer superb dental care. Dr. Girard and Dr. Kawahara have two children, Aiden and Mckenzie who remind them that life is good and give them reasons to SMILE everyday.
Dr Todd Girard, a Massachusetts native and avid New England Sports fan, graduated from Danvers High School in 1997 and went on to receive a Bachelors degree in Biology with a minor in Biochemistry and Chemistry from Fairfield University in 2001. In 2005 he received his Doctorate in Dental medicine from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in Boston. He moved to Maui with Dr. Kawahara in 2005 and has been working in a group practice until opening their private practice in 2015.
Dr Girard strives to bring the newest advancements in dentistry to the people of Maui. He has taken over 250 hours of continuing education courses, so that he may offer services in restorative and cosmetic dentistry, oral surgery, endodontics, orthodontics, removable and fixed prosthodontics, and implant restoration. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Hawaii Dental Association, Maui County Dental Society, American Academy of Cosmetic Dentists, and International Association of Dentists. He was selected as one of Hawaiis 2015 Best Dentists by his peers.

This is the first dentist that I've been happy with in a long long time, maybe ever. The front desk team works smoothly and is very knowledgeable. My dental hygienist is so kind and does an amazing job. I see Dr Kelly Kawahara and I am very impressed. Bonus: The office is very clean and modern.

I was able to get in with Dr. Kawahara to fix a filling that had come out. Considering the pandemic, I felt super safe with all of their safety measures in place. Thank you Smile Suite for being accessible in getting me in and being on point with the Covid safety measures!

They try to get you in for your first appointment to take xrays but then tell you that you can't get your cleaning for 6 months!! By then getting you in for X-rays, they lock up your insurance so you can't go anywhere else and are forced to wait the 6 months. Shady. Do not do business with them.

Very modern, brand new everything throughout. My dental hygienist was awesome. Dr. Girard did a crown for me and it came out great. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a dentist on Maui!!

Thanks to a terrible experience at another dental office our family tried Smile Suite. Let's start with the cleaning, is it possible to call it a spa experience? Shanell was my hygenist and never in my life have I felt like falling asleep whilst getting my teeth cleaned. She had an amazing soft touch and I didn't walk away feeling like a construction crew had jack hammered my grill (that would be a reference to the terrible experience my kids had at a place in Kahului near the old Lowe's). Dr. Girard is amazing. He simply told me what he felt needed to be worked on and it never felt like a sales pitch. I would highly recommend Smile Suite, Shanell, and Dr. Girard.
