I think dentistry is an art, and Ive enjoyed creating beautiful pieces of artwork every day since 1985! My goal is to learn about each individuals desires when it comes to their dental health, and exceed those expectations at every turn. There is nothing better than seeing the joy in a patients face when Im able to improve their smile and self-esteem!
I was born in Atlanta, Georgia and moved to California, where I grew up and completed high school. I moved back to Atlanta to attend Spelman College, earning my Bachelor of Science degree. From there, I attended Howard University College of Dentistry in Washington, DC, receiving my Doctorate of Dental Surgery.
I believe in keeping up with the latest advances in dentistry; I am always excited to learn new things in the field. In order to keep abreast of the new innovations in the field of dentistry, I attend over 75 hours of continuing education annually. I am a certified CPR instructor and all my staff members are CPR certified.
After graduating from dental school, I moved to the Chicago area and currently reside in Oak Park, IL with my husband, Jay. In my free time, I enjoy golf, golf, and more golf! I also love music, reading, theater and doing almost anything outdoors. Nothing beats fresh air and beautiful scenery!
Every summer we sponsor the Adult Reading Program at the Bellwood Public Library; and for several years I was very active in Literacy Volunteers of America, tutoring adults and seniors in reading. I am an active member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Broadview Toastmasters, and Tee Timers Golf League.

My career in dentistry began in 1977, and I was happy to join Dr. Johnson in 2005. I earned my Bachelor of Science degree in Dental Hygiene from Tennessee State and continued on to receive my Masters degree in Public Administration from Roosevelt University. My main responsibilities include providing patient education, periodontal treatments, dental cleanings, and oral cancer screenings, but the most important thing I do each day is build relationships with my patients. Its tremendously rewarding to know that I have an impact for change with patients perception of the importance of maintaining a healthy mouth. I love coming to work to interact with wonderful patients and a great staff.
I obtained my dental assistant education at Illinois School of Health Careers, from which I graduated with honors in 1997. Since then, I have several certifications in expanded duties including placement of dental sealants, coronal polishing, bleaching, and orthodontics. In 2011, I achieved my certification as a Registered Dental Assistant. I work alongside Dr. Johnson during a variety of dental procedures. Meeting new people and working with the lovely ladies in our office make me look forward to coming to the office each day.

Dr. Johnson is an excellent dentist. I have gone to many dentist in the past and I have not been more pleased with the service and professionalism of the entire staff. Everyone is every friendly and welcoming while maintaining a professional balance. She is also very proactive in preventative care.

I've been going here for many years Mimi Johnson is the best she really cares about her patients and always give good recommendations on how to take care of your teeth I wouldn't go anywhere else. You can guarantee you will get a good cleaning the staff is awesome Very clean follows all Covid protocols.

Wouldn't think of going anywhere else. The entire team is great! Everyone is always welcoming and attentive. Was always uneasy when having to visit the dentist prior to becoming a patient of Dr. Johnson. Like them so much I told my siblings they should become patients.
