Smiles Services DC was started with the idea of making a difference. Dr. Albert Coombs III and Dr. Kevin Granger chose to practice healthcare for its ability to impact the overall mental and physical health of the community. Diabetes, High Blood Pressure, GI, and other systematic diseases are common within the African American community and are often worsened by poor oral health. The mouth is a part of the body that cant be separated from the rest. Gum disease, tooth lost, periodontist, and other infections affect the gums and teeth, therefore impacting the entire body and some of the illnesses listed above. So if we can create better routines in keeping our mouths clean, then we can lesson the risks of common diseases.
At Smile Services DC, we strengthen our community by offering services that help not only with the overall physical health of our patients but their confidence too. When you have your big job interview, wedding day, graduation, etc., you want to feel happy and confident and Smile Services DC can help with that!

From the seats you sit in to the warmth of our staff, we provide an intimate environment that offers our community a place to come and feel welcomed. We chose our location, staff, and work environment to serve our community. So Its important that we offer a much needed practice thats reliable and highly qualified, with a clean and safe environment that everyone can have access to. This is why we accept most health insurances and offer affordable rates for services not covered.
Dr. Albert Coombs III received his Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 2011 and is licensed in the District of Columbia and Maryland. He is a Diplomate with the International Dental Implant Association(IDIA) performing more than 320 Implant CE hours and placed over 1000 implant procedures both: in practice and in continuum education programs. Dr. Coombs moved to the DMV area in 2011 and began working in private practices in Temple Hills, Maryland and Washington DC.
Following his passion for serving underserved patient populations, he developed and co-founded Smile Services with Dr. Granger. Smile services is a community outreach program that focused on oral health education in underserved populations throughout Washington D.C. Since 2012, this program has done more than 2000 free patient exams, taught a variety of classes from oral cancer education to career mentorship, and has donated dental supplies to elementary schools, churches and homeless shelters throughout the region.
In 2015, Dr. Coombs and Dr.Granger opened up a Private Practice, Smile Services DC, where they continue to provide quality care to the Washington DC area. Dr. Coombs is an Executive Board Member of the Robert T. Freeman Dental Society and enjoys spending time with his family when he isnt doing dentistry
Dr. Kevin Granger earned his Dental Surgery (DDS) from Meharry Medical College in 2002 and is a licensed dentist in DC, Maryland, and Virginia. Following his degree, Dr. Granger spent two years in advanced residency programs. Pursuing excellence he became a fellow at Implant Surgery and an associate fellow with the World Institute of Laser Dentistry. Over a span of 13 years, Dr. Granger has worked with multiple practices from family to private, learning community outreach, management, and entrepreneurial skills that would later help build Oral Health Associates. There he and Dr. Coombs built a foundation that would become, Smile Services.

I don't recommend this practice and if I could give them zero stars I would.This office does not run on time and they have you waiting without informing you how long it's going to be or anything just have you sitting. I work in a health care facility and if you have an appointment at a designated time we will never tell our patients that just because they're scheduled at that time doesn't mean you'll be seen at that time as I was told today by their receptionist. I left work and lost hours this was a total waste of time and I'm still in pain.

Very greatful for getting my wisdom tooth removed. his work is precise and fast and on a scale from 1-10 pain level about a 1.5. my overall visit was amazing very good customer service!!!

Seek services elsewhere if you like advocating for yourself!! NO QUESTIONS ALLOWED in that office with the dentist/doctor. Just because I have a certain type of insurance, does not give you the right to treat me ask if I'm beneath you! He refused me services, because I called him out on his rude, dismissive, narcissistic behavior. Absolutely no bed side manner, and this is a dentist!!! As stated earlier, he refused services. I never said I was uncomfortable. Some folks just can't handle the truth...sad case here.

I had a wisdom tooth that was bothering me considerably and I had to get it removed. I eventually sought out Smile Services DC which is just walking distance from where I live.... WORTH IT! The staff and the dentist who worked to remove my wisdom tooth were super friendly and professional, and after having the procedure done, it was a huge relief to finally have my wisdom tooth pulled after months of irritation.

I have received meticulous high level, efficient, and painless service, from their brilliant doctors, like Dr. Coombs, and support staff. They utilize top of the line technology and are absolutely masterful with their work. I would recommend this place to anyone.

I NEVER leave reviews but these guys really deserve it! I had a dental emergency a couple weeks before having my baby and they worked quickly to let me know the documentation they needed from my OB and worked me into their already packed schedule. The staff is very welcoming and Dr. Coombs Bedside manner is GREAT.
