Born and raised in the northern suburbs of Chicago, Dr. Monica Urda received the Trustee Scholarship from Loyola University to study biology. A recipient of the Mulcahy Award, as well as the Pre-Dental Award, she graduated cum laude from Loyola and spent the following four years at Marquette School of Dentistry in Milwaukee Wisconsin where she earned her DDS. Afterward, she completed post-graduate coursework in endodontics, dental implants, Cad-Cam technology, aesthetic restorations, and Invisalign. In 2013 Dr. Urda joined a large group practice on the southwest side of Chicago. Through her expertise, her calm, confident manner, and her engaging personal touch Dr. Urda quickly became a favorite doctor among the patients at the large and busy clinic.
Dr. Urda now brings her dedication to excellence and personal approach to dentistry to her own practice: Smile Science Chicago in Wicker Park. Whether for a routine visit or a more complex procedure, you can expect to have meaningful one-on-one with Dr. Urda about your specific needs.
Dr. Urda respects each patients right to a detailed discussion of any treatment needed. She will take the time to explain a procedure, answer all questions and alleviate any concerns, then the Smile Science Chicago staff will work to implement Dr. Urdas treatment plan within the schedule and budget of each patient.
A resident of Chicagos north side, Dr. Urda has been an active member of the community as a volunteer with Give Kids a Smile day, Smiles For the Future day, Head Start day, and Mission of Mercy day. She is committed to continuing life-long learning that will bring the most advanced techniques in dentistry to her patients.
Dr. Eugene Ro grew up in Kalamazoo, Michigan. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Sciences at Michigan State University and went on to receive his Doctor of Dental Medicine at Midwestern University College of Dental Medicine Illinois. He is a member of the American Dental Association, Chicago Dental Society, Illinois State Dental Society, and Academy of General Dentistry.
Dr. Eugene aims to create a safe environment with the most effective and comfortable dental treatments through continuing education and evolving technology. He takes pride in providing comprehensive, patient-centered care that is both age and culturally sensitive.

I could not recommend Smile Science enough. I've been a patient for 3 years now even though I no longer live in the neighborhood. The staff is extremely friendly and Dr. Monica really cares. I always walk out of there feeling like I got the best possible treatment for my teeth which by the way are garbage lol. My dental health has completely changed for the better since I started going to Smile Science. Update: 5 years later this place is still the best and I couldn't recommend it more.

Smile Science was recommended by a friend, and I am extremely happy I took the chance! I hadn't been to a dentist in some time and they have been nothing but kind, informative, and overall amazing with everything I've needed done. Staff is friendly and welcoming, and it is by far the best dental experience I've had in my adult life. They have Netflix playing for your distraction and walk/talk you through all procedures and payments so there is no confusion! Currently recommending to all my friends and family!

Dr. Urda and the team at Smile Science are awesome. The office is warm, and the staff is professional and kind. Dr. Urda provides excellent care and aftercare instructions. Dr. Urda is culturally competent, treats her patients respectfully, and has an excellent bedside manner. I had a great experience at Smile Science. I have avoided going to the dentist for over 4 years due to anxiety. The staff was really nice, nonjudgmental and super comforting. They tell you everything they're going to do before they do it - which helps the anxiety. They also squeezed me in to repair old fillings immediately after my cleaning. (Which was so awesome because I had zero time to work myself up and be anxious for another appointment) Prices are told before the work is done. The dentist, Eugene, was nice and quick with the fillings in a well-prepared way, not a rushed way. Thank you team!

Wonderful experience at Smile Science. I transferred from a dentist in Lakeview because I wanted to go somewhere closer to a new apartment. They were so patient and thorough and explained every step of the cleaning process in a way that no dentist ever has!! They also walked me through all of my x-rays and really explained what was happening in some areas that need to be watched. The screens on the ceiling to watch TV during the appointment are also a game changer!

Exceptional staff. Great experiences now both visits. Most recently, I was seen by the dental hygienist Reyna and Dentist Eugene. Reyna was one of the best hygienists I have had the pleasure of meeting. She was incredibly thorough and knowledgeable. The Dentist Eugene was efficient, professional, and pleasant as well. 10/10 could not recommend Smile Science more to someone looking for the perfect Dental office.
