Inspired by orthodontics at an early age, Dr. Sturdivant was blessed to have his dad as his orthodontist and experienced new approaches to the field of orthodontics first-hand. Most importantly, his dad taught him the value of a great smile and the importance of truly caring for each patient and treating them like family. He is passionate about creating great smiles to build confidence and finds true joy in seeing the transformation of every patient he works with.
Dr. Sturdivant grew up in Ames, Iowa, where he graduated from high school. He started his college career at Iowa Central in Fort Dodge where he played Quarterback for the Tritons. He then went on to the University of Iowa for his undergraduate (Chemistry) and Dental School (DDS). After becoming a dentist, he gained experience from a general practice residency at HCMC in Minneapolis treating patients in a hospital setting. He then completed a residency in Temporal Mandibular Joint (TMJ) disorders and Craniofacial Pain at the University of Minnesota that led him to completing his orthodontics residency at the University of Minnesota in 1994. Through his academic journey, Dr. Sturdivant has had the opportunity to work with all ages of patients and continually explores new innovations to improve the orthodontic process and experience for each patient.
Married to his high school sweetheart, Stacy, he also has three children Quinn, Chris and Cecelia. Outside of the office, Dr. Sturdivant enjoys spending time with his family, loves to be active and exercise, is passionate about golf, and roots for the Iowa State Cyclones.

I called to set up an appointment, however the person taking calls was completely rude, did not have the patience to explain the process respefully without the need of making people feel stupid. I just take my business elsewhere

Everyone in this facility is amazing and really works together as a team. The receptionist is really caring and helpful. Cyndi, your amazing girl. I called a week before my appointment because I was very nervous and she reassured me and talked me down and went through the process with me. They've been in touch with me for 2 years until I finally got the money to get braces. Paula, you are the best and so sweet I love you, thank you for walking me through the financials comfortably. And Dr. Sturdivant and his team really do care and make you feel right at home and make this process so easy. I'm the most anxious nervous person I know and they made me feel so comfortable I can't thank you guys enough for all your dedication, hard work, and care you put into your patients. I'm so glad I chose you guys. Love you all!

I went in to have a permanent retainer fixed and the process was so quick and easy. From getting me scheduled quickly, to getting me in and out of the office BEFORE my appointment even started, the staff (especially Meredith) was absolutely fantastic and friendly. Should I need any orthodontic care in the future, I will most certainly be going to Dr. Sturdivant!
