Carl P. Palmblad, DDS Dr. Carl Palmblad is a unique kind of dentist and founder of Smile Makers. His gentle approach, combined with the valuable patient education he provides, will ease any concerns you might have. He listens intently to understand your specific needs. He then strives to provide the highest standard of personalized dental care, with three decades of experience and skills training in advanced dental technology. A Port Jefferson resident since high school, Dr. Palmblad graduated from Stony Brook University with a degree in biochemistry and ultimately went on to receive his post-doctorate degree from New York University College of Dentistry. He spent the following two years as a clinical instructor at the same dental school. Dr. Palmblad is a Zoom Whitening and Invisalign certified provider and a member of the American Dental Association, the Dental Society of the State of New York, the Suffolk County Dental Society and the American Endodontic Society. He is fluent in English and Spanish and enjoys boating, motorcycling and racquet sports. His daughter, Courtney, is a member of our dental team and is currently pursuing a career in Dental Hygiene. Erika J. Smit, DDS Dr. Erika Smit has helped to build a caring, patient-oriented practice here at Smile Makers since 1999. Along with Dr. Palmblad, Dr. Smit strives to create a comfortable environment where patients feel welcome and look forward to their visits. She graduated from Stony Brook University with a bachelors degree in Biology. While attending Stony Brook University, she volunteered for the Patchogue Ambulance Company as an EMT. She then worked for New York City Emergency Medical Services in the 911 emergency response. Dr. Smit attended New York University College of Dentistry and graduated in 1995 with honors in comprehensive patient care (CCAPA) and Prosthetic Dentistry. Dr. Smit then completed her residency at Jamaica Hospital, where she was able to work beside the doctors, nurses and support staff who had become like a second family during her years at NYC EMS. The residency program expanded her experience to include eldercare, pediatric specialties, rehabilitation of facial trauma, and community outreach programs. She is a member of the American Dental Association as well as the New York State Dental Association. Dr. Smit has since continued her career in eastern Long Island. It was here that she met and married her husband, and stayed to raise their daughter Samantha. They are very proud parents and Samantha has expressed a desire to become a dentist as well. Dr. Smit looks forward to welcoming you to our practice!

He graduated from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, School of Dentistry, and is a long time Port Jefferson resident. He performed additional residency training at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Northport. Dr. Breuer is a member of the Suffolk County and New York State Dental Societies.

John Breuer is a past commodore of his sailing club and is an active member of the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary. He routinely teaches safe boating classes, inspects buoys, and flies on patrols for the Coast Guard.

I can't thank Dr. Palmblad and his staff enough. Their patience and sensitivity made my visit an enjoyable experience. My procedure was pain-free and Dr. Palmblad explained every step thoroughly. I highly recommend Smile Makers Port Jefferson!

I don't usually post reviews, but in this case I have to make a special exception. I was thinking back to when I was a kid and going to the dentist was always a terrible experience! For years I thought it was normal to feel pain and almost jump out of your seat when the dentist drilled into your nerves, without realizing you weren't numb enough! Owe, how much fun it was! With that being said, I would like to thank Smile Makers for 22 years of pain free and excellent dental services. Doctor Palmblad is a master at his craft and is the best dentist in town! I highly recommend him and his wonderful staff! Thanks, Jerry Cipriano

Great staff. Dr. Palmblad is very thorough and professional making visits stress free. I'm glad I switched to him from my former dentist. I do recommend using him, I think he can make you smile too!

I am beyond happy with the service and hospitality received. I am terrified of needles and honestly any doctor visit or check-up. I didn't feel a thing, in fact I laughed an smiled my entire time there! Dr. Brewer and staff were extremely friendly and caring every step of the way. I am looking forward to my next visit!

My husband & I have been going to Smile Makers since they took over for Dr. Clark. I can't say enough great things about Dr. Palmblad & his wonderful staff! Always able to get a quick appointment & we never have waited. Dr. Palmblad has been so helpful with our payment plans since we do not have dental insurance. One time, a few days before Christmas, I had an emergency cracked front tooth, he took me in right away, did an amazing job fixing my tooth, then on my way out, the staff ran after me & said Dr. P said Merry Christmas & no charge!! Who does that?! This wonderful Dentist does!! Highly recommend!!

The SmileMakers team is just amazing: very good care, control of the costs, no waiting time. They have it all. We've been with them since our post-doc times at the SUNY at Stony Brook and that's more than 15 years ago. They were good and friendly to us when we barely made it on a student budget, they are good and competitive today when we have good insurances. Our two children found the SmileMakers team friendly and I have to say that Dr. Palmblad managed to extract two teeth (for the braces) from the mouth of my fussy junior without a tear. I could not believe my eyes, but he tricked the kid and did it. We saw Dr. Palmblad and Melissa just before the COVID-19 lockdown and they acted very professionally, reassuring and with a lot of sense of humor.

I recently had dental work done at Smile Makers in Port Jefferson and I'm extremely satisfied. The procedure done by Dr. Palmblad was painless and stress free, and I would highly recommend him. The whole staff was friendly and comforting. All safety precautions were taken above and beyond. Great overall experience.
