Dr. Malek has two goals that go hand in hand when performing dental care: Provide the highest quality dental care, while keeping his patients as comfortable as possible. Dr. Malek can proudly say he is a compassionate caregiver who can relate to a full spectrum of dental patients. He knows that in order to provide quality care, he must first listen carefully to his patients concerns. Regardless of the type of patients sitting in his chair, there are three main objectives he aims to establish: Communication, Trust and Comfort. Patients admire his ability to communicate the proposed treatment plan, leading to full trust in his knowledge and capabilities. Having an excellent record of correctly diagnosing and treating dental conditions helps continue this trust. Keeping a patient relaxed and at ease during the entire visit is of utmost importance to him.
Dr. Malek is a long time resident of NJ, where he received his Bachelors Degree in Biology from Rutgers University with high honors. He then completed his Doctorate in Dental Surgery from Howard University College of Dentistry in Washington D.C., graduating at the top of his class. After dental school, he had the opportunity to associate in several offices throughout the Bergen, Hudson and Passaic County regions in NJ. In addition to his vast experience as an associate, Dr. Malek attends the latest continuing education courses in order to keep up with advancements in dentistry.
In January2017, Dr. Malek acquired the practice of Dr. Roger Santise. Smile Loft Westwoodwas then born. At Smile Loft Westwood, we pride ourselves in excellence. Our mission is to keep our patients happy and healthy, while giving them the smile they have always desired.
When Dr. Malek is not performing dentistry you can find him enjoying quality time with his wife Joann and children, Miray and David. He is also an avid photographer. Many of his favorite personal shots can be found displayed throughout the office.

Diligence in maintenance is critical. Quality of effort is absolutely necessary. With Smile Loft's devotion to all the most recent technological advancements applied to every patient's greatest benefit one always leaves an appointment grateful for their superior care and thoroughness. I have recently completed a full mouth restoration coupled with a realignment of my bite. I would like you to continue reading the expectation and outcome of my story: Years of appropriate home and office care for the last six decades couldn't stop the inevitable aging and gradual deterioration of my teeth. Though my mouth was healthy the appearance was not. Until recently, with the advent and availability of cosmetic dentistry, earlier practitioners focused almost exclusively on issues of repair of the teeth and gum disease. Late summer, Dr. Malek, using the highly advanced technology he has made available for his patients, showed me the limited tooth structure remaining to accommodate future repairs. These structural challenges required me to recognize the important crossroads I had now arrived at. No longer would a piecemeal approach to treatment suffice to prevent increased risk of more involved and expensive procedures in the long run. Dr. Malek, however, was not merely the bearer of seemingly bad news. Instead, he pointed out an opportunity which presented itself: though the orthodontic treatment I received in my teen years did not stop premature damage to my lower front teeth, nevertheless, by doing a full restoration, Dr. Malek could compensate for the improper bite while providing a much whiter smile than I ever had. All my grey-yellowish teeth were crowned and reconfigured to achieve the desired improved function and appearance. The before and after photos of my mouth startled me, as they would anyone else. It really was that much of a new smile. Truly, function and aesthetics were fully accomplished! I can now affirm the decision to move forward rewarded me not only with a healthier future but also the freedom to display a smile I never felt free to reveal. I hope others, including you, thoughtfully weigh the benefits of a long-term comprehensive dental plan. There comes a special satisfaction when one can rest confidently that a wise decision has been made. Such a determined commitment also contributes to the happiness our smile is intended to create. I'm sorry I ever walked foot in their door. Although the dental hygienists are very knowledgeable, the dentist's are money hungry. They will tell you, you need all this work done when it really isn't necessary. The office harasses you with phone calls and texts for appointment reminders and follow up calls. They force you to make appointments and dental decisions on the spot and if you don't they call you the next day to ask you again. I called to have my x-rays sent to my oral surgeon so I can avoid having them done again and they wanted to charge me $350 just to have them sent there as a "courtesy fee". Stay away from this practice

Ok. I'll start off by saying I am not a fan of going to the dentist, but who is, well I'm at the extreme of not liking the dentist. Dr. Malik and his staff are beyond awesome, accommodating and most importantly patient when dealing with an adult who turns into a child after sitting in the dental chair. The absolute star/gem of his practice though is Francy , their dental hygienist!!! I go so far as to plan my visits around her schedule. 100% recommend Dr. Malik's practice.

I just had my first root canal at smile loft. I was extremely nervous and did not know what to expect. Dr Kou was absolutely wonderful and explained step by step what he was doing and he was very gentle and understanding to my hesitation. I would absolutely recommend this establishment. Dr Malik has never steered me wrong either

Smile loft welcomed me in like I've been a patient at their practice for years.(new patient) they are very patient and nice. staff very friendly never had 1 bad experience out of the 15 times I've been there already. Dr. M really takes time with his patients and make sure you leave very comfortable. And on the plus side they always offer blankets to me because I'm always cold. 10/10 thank you and happy to have a new great dentist!

I wanted to take the time to praise Dr. Malek and his entire staff on my Invisalign treatment. Today concluded the final steps in my treatment and I can say with total honesty that my expectations and initial goals of doing Invisalign were more than exceeded. I can't even get myself to look at old pictures of my teeth! I definitely am not afraid to smile and show off my straight, white teeth now. As always, thank you Smileloft for all you do!
