Dr. Rai loves dentistry and more importantly his patients. Smile Loft is not only his vision but also his passion. Under his direction, every day, the staff strives to make the practice more welcoming, caring and comfortable dental experience for all the guests. His approach to your treatment starts with patiently listening to you. Then, after a complete and thorough examination, he reviews and discusses the diagnosis and treatment options with you. His goal is to make each and every patient feel comfortable.

Dr. Rai graduated from Howard University College of Dentistry and was inducted into the prestigious National Dental Honor Society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon. After dental school, Dr. Rai continued his education and completed an additional one year of specialized training in general and cosmetic dentistry at the Washington DC Veterans Affairs Hospital. In April 2013, He acquired Dr. Stephen Kleimans practice and founded Smile Loft Laurel with emphasis on patient comfort and pain free dentistry. In April 2016, Dr. Rai opened Smile Loft Office in the heart of downtown Bethesda. In 2017, Dr Rai acquired Smile Loft Glen Burnie fron Dr. Venessa Sciortino.

Dr. Rai believes in keeping up-to-date with the all latest advancements in dentistry that enable him to provide his patients with the best quality of care. For that Dr. Rai has participated in many continuing education at the post-doctorate level and have gained wide range of experience in different areas of dentistry. He is procient in all cosmetic and restorative procedures along with surgical and root canal therapies. Whatever your treatment needs maybe, Dr. Rai will always take the time to explain all the options and make you feel comfortable.

In his free time, Dr. Rai like to spend his time with his wife Christine and his baby daughter Isabella. Christine played a signicant role in acquisition and opening of all three braches ofSmile Loft.Dr. Rai and Christine are expecting their second daughter in June 2016.

This is such a great team. Rolonda at the front desk was able to explain the procedures and complicated insurance process and she is a very nice and an approachable person. Everyone at the front desk are also very honest and good people. Also, shoutout to Siedah at the front for always handling things with ease. They made sure I was comfortable with my dental plan and gave me options for my preferences. They also broke down the cost and how everything will be done so I can understand the whole plan and next steps. The dentist, specially Dr. Douglas, were also great at explaining the procedures and overall good doctors. Dr. Douglas goes above and beyond for her patients! Thank you.

Parents went to the office for his teeth cleaning and they wanted to charge about as high as 2,300. When my mother asked why so much and some time they were able to lower it to maybe 1000 and something. He was only in there for not even 10 min. So we questioned what he even got down so how high they charged. Not only did the ladies at the desk gave us terrible attitude they bluntly told my dad next time to not bring my mom all because she was questioning the high price and little time of service . Now they have been billing my dad for $50 that he somehow "owes" from that cleaning and even sent him to collection despite him disputing what or why they bill $50 when he paid out of pocket for his "cleaning "

My boyfriend goes here and we love the people and service but the scheduling has not been a good experience. At least Four times they have got his appointment wrong by either taking it out of the system completely or changing the time with out calling to ask or tell us about it and he has to take time off work for the appointment's. It is very frustrating.

I just had my regularly schedule cleaning at Smile loft Glen Burnie 2/4/22. The office is pristine with great music. The front desk duo were friendly and attentive. The automated temperature detector is very cool. The Covid checklist was short and precise. My hygienist, Charmaine was awesomely gentle, informative and entertaining. :) THANK YOU.

I had no problems at Smile Loft Dental (Glen Burnie) for the past 6 years, until they hired a new Office Manager Karen. For some reason the young woman seems more in love with her title than actually doing the billing properly and treating all patients with the dignity and respect they deserve and PAY for. My first BAD dental experience occurred Aug/Sep when it became clear that a root canal was necessary. Instead of processing my insurance first to get an estimate of benefits as had ALWAYS been done - I was informed (while I was in the dental chair, teeth open and exposed) that I would need to pay $2K or take out a loan. When I questioned Dr. Reddy, she kept saying I "was confused", and when I persisted in knowing the full cost and treatment plan before continuing, I was shuffled to Karen. I refused and informed Dr. Reddy, Karen and the Dental Assistant that it was NEVER done this way before. As if that wasn't bad enough, Karen just kept saying that she was the Office Manager and that they would "do me a favor" and create a payment plan of 4 pays of $502. This still DID NOT SEEM RIGHT - BECAUSE IT WASN'T. Despite being in horrendous pain, I decided to contact my Insurance, and do a 3 way conference call. It became evident that Karen was NOT billing correctly, as she got increasingly rude, impatient and flustered - she had NOT even submitted the codes for an estimate; she continued to try to get me off the line to which I refused until the billing was done correctly with the Insurance Rep guiding her through. After the insurance was processed I only owed $600 NOT $2K - BIG difference indeed. In what seems to be retaliation, I could not get a hold of the Dentists to get pain relief or antibiotics for 6 hours. When I finally did reach the Dentist on call (Dr. Reddy) she just kept minimizing my pain, and yet for some at the same time trying to prescribed me Percocet, to which I refused as Im allergic, she still just kept trying. Question is why would you prescribe meds that a patient is allergic to? To be clear once I was finally scheduled to be seen days later in EXCRUTIATING pain - it took 2 courses of antibiotics, a steroid, and Motrin and Tylenol ariund the clock to be NORMAL without pain and swelling. After this incident, I reached out to Dr. Rai directly about the lack of proper billing practices and BLATENT rudeness and indifference to patients pain. To which he stated that "Karen was a good person" my reply being that whether she was a good person or not - SHE WAS NOT PROFESSIONAL, and NOT a good look for his brand. Things just kept getting pettier..... Every time the teeth continued to give me problems I was told that I was just sensitive, until it was discovered that the nerve was still exposed and had to be addressed by sealing the teeth 3 additional times as the temporary bridge was rubbing off the enamel. Instead of following the Dentists recommended treatment and schedule, Karen took it upon herself to crumble and throw away the note, and push the appointment out 2 weeks FURTHER away - until I demanded to be seen on the date the Dentist recommended 2 days out. To add to the DISRESPECTFUL, CHILDISH and UNPROFESSIONAL behavior - Karen then proceeded to call me by my first name, as if to be condescending. Fast forward to November, Dr. Douglas made jokes again about me being sensitive and became very different and shifted me to another Dentist without explanation all the way in Landover. Oddly enough this happened after she suggested my husband and her take a selfie in the Dentist chair - strange indeed. Upon again being forced to do a 3 way conference call (after being given the run around by Smile Loft) the Insurance stated to Karen (who felt the need to tell us that she was the Regional Manager), she failed to send the X-rays they request OCTOBER 19 - a WHOLE MONTH AGO! Ironically she then said she would send them over and that it only takes a few minutes. So why would it then take a whole month to do your job? Save yourself the trouble- NOT the caring Dentistry it used to be.

Bad office staff they dont call back they cant get thier appointments right and inconsistent. They did a CROWN on one tooth made a temp its been 2 months still no word back then the permanent crown was in. Now the temp. Came off and no call back after i said i did it fixed......

Best dental clinic and Dr Rai is the BEST Doc in town hands down, prompt service, no wait, very professional and what more to except than that he saved my 12yrs old root canal tooth with a retreat which in most cases is an extraction and implant. Very courteous and polite staff with amazing service. Thanks Dr Rai once again..
