We humbly welcome you to our unique office with a caring staff to take care of all your dental needs. We are located at the Pauahi Tower in Bishop Square. We provide a relaxing environment with refreshments and offer validated parking that is adjacent to our building. (*that you can access from Alakea Street*)

Dexis digital x-rays are an extremely progressive addition to our dental office. Digital x-rays are computer generated images. These images require up to 75% less radiation than with convention film type x-rays. X-ray projections appear on computer monitors within a few seconds in full view. The computer allows enlargement, highlighting, magnifying, inverting, clear viewing, and contrasting of x-ray photos, so that you can view your teeth at the same time.

The newest equipment and the latest in dental technology to offer the best care to our patients in our office is the Orthophos. The Orthophos is a dental CT scan which provides us with 3-D data to help with improved patient diagnosis. You are seated in an open environment and the procedure can be done in our office, which means no trips to the hospital. The scan takes 20 seconds and gives off less radiation and costs less than medical CT scans.

The muscles in your temple and forehead area play an important part in the way your jaw is positioned and how your jaw closes. If your bite is not right it could lead to abnormal tension in these muscle, a possible cause of tension headaches. The bite remains tense for long periods of time if not corrected and the muscles do not get a chance to rest which leads to poor circulation and pain.

The K-7 allows Dr. Sebastian to evaluate the state that the muscles are in as well as other factors that may be affecting the bite. The K-7 is a computer which helps Dr. Sebastian measure and study the full range of motion of the jaw in three dimensions. The computer records where your jaw is being held in relation to the upper teeth and can measure the activity of the muscles that control the jaw in its relaxed position as well as its functional positions. Dr. Sebastian then can use the K-7 to determine if your bite is in its optimal position, rather than relying on your current bite position as being the best bite for you.

It doesnt matter if your front teeth are too small, darkly discolored, chipped, or broken. Veneers can make them all look the samewhite, smooth, healthy, and evenly shaped. You might feel like some kind of miracle has been performed when you look at your smile after your treatment is finished. The veneers are set on top of your natural teeth and will stay bonded there for years.

When your goal is to have a Hollywood smile, your dentist will most likely recommend porcelain veneers. There are plenty of benefits to consider when youre making this important decision about your teeth:

Solea is the first CO2 dental laser system cleared by the FDA for hard and soft tissue procedures. It offers a unique wavelength guided by sophisticated computers to deliver virtually painless dental procedures for both teeth and gums from simple cavities to complex surgeries.

Some people are blessed with a beautiful smile from birth, but most people need a little bit of help to get their smiles up to par. Cosmetic dentistry takes your uniquely beautiful smile and makes it look as perfect as possiblewhiter, straighter, and contoured to fit your face.

A smile is a way of telling someone were happy, were pleased to be in their company, or that were having a good time. Its a greeting and an important social cue. So if you feel like you have to hide your teeth from others, it can affect how you interact with the world. Cosmetic dentistry allows people with even the most discolored or damaged teeth to see a huge improvement with their smiles.

You never know just how much of an impact a beautiful smile can have on your life until you have one. People look at you differently and your self-confidence increases significantly. Here are a few other benefits of cosmetic dentistry:

Finding cavities using an explorer has not changed much since the 1800s. Using this technique, many cavities are found at very late stages where large fillings or more expensive inlays and on-lays are necessary. Sadly, nearly 20% of children between 2 and 3 years old have tooth decay and 80% of young people have had a cavity by age 17. New techniques and protocols needed to be developed to detect disease earlier and stop the decay. The newest technology available is a laser fluorescence cavity detector called the Diagnodent, available in our office. A light is shone on the teeth and fluorescence emitted by decay is quantifiably measured and found in very early stages so that fillings may not be necessary and simpler sealants may help stop the decay and preserve tooth structure.

With the Soft Tissue Laser we can perform many soft tissue surgical procedures in-office with very little or no bleeding and very little or no post-operative pain. Because of this, restorative procedures may also be performed on the same day.

Other uses for our laser include: elimination of canker sores, gum disease treatment, gum plastic surgery, preparation prior to mold taking for crowns and bridges, removal of muscle attachments and many more. Once again, the benefits to you, the patient, are in the increased quality of care received and painless techniques the laser provides.

Dental implants are becoming increasingly popular with patients. They are now the solution of choice when there is a missing tooth. You may have even met a few people who have dental implants, but you wouldnt know because they look so natural. Dr. Cecile Sebastian in Honolulu, HI wants you to get a more thorough understanding of what implants are and what they can do for your smile.

Smile Innovations Hawaii – Cecile Sebastian DDS – Advanced Cosmetic Dentistry - Cosmetic dentist in Honolulu, HI

In the case of a missing tooth, patients have the option of getting a partial denture or a bridge. The partial is removable, which means that it could cause embarrassing moments in social settings. The bridge is semi-permanent and non-removable (except by your dentist) but it requires the removal of enamel on two healthy teeth. For these reasons and more, many patients choose dental implants instead. They are permanent fixtures in the mouth, cannot slip out, and dont need other teeth for support. When the implantation and crowning process is complete, they feel so natural that most patients forget that theyre there.

Your dental implants will stay healthy and strong as long as you are taking care of your teeth and gums. The main threat to an implant is gum disease, so you should work closely with your dentist to ensure that gingivitis or periodontists doesnt affect the implants Floss carefully and thoroughly around your implant (and your other teeth) every evening before bed.

I am glad we found Dr. Sebastian. I am not a fan of the dentist chair yet she and her staff find a way to make cleanings and treatments easy and painless. Up to date technologies help quicken the process as well! I was able to get a new crown in 2 hours. She takes great care of myself and my kids. Highly recommend her!

Dr. Sebastian has the best bedside manner of any dentist I've ever been to, which is critical for people like me who have anxiety around dental work. She is understanding, patient, and thorough, making sure to address any questions or concerns you have. Procedures have been pain-free, and I appreciate the top-of-the-line technology (same day permanent crowns!) her office uses. Her staff is super friendly and helpful, and I've noticed that everyone in the office treats each other with kindness and respect--this isn't always the case in dental offices, and it helps to further put me at ease. Mahalo, Dr. Sebastian + team!

Dr. Sebastian is absolutely one of the best dentists I've been to in Hawaii. She is very friendly and treats her patients with extreme care and detail, I would not go anywhere else. Jean the hygienist made the experience very comforting when getting a cleaning.

I've been a patient of Dr Sebastian for decades and have only received the best care from her and her team. I know why she has been voted #1 over many years. I've never been a fan of dentists but they always put me at ease whether I go for dental work or cleanings with Kim, the hygienist. It's not unusual to walk in to their office and hear laughter from patients and the team throughout the office. I also love how high tech their office is. They have lasers for gum treatments and cavities. They have a machine to make crowns on the same day of your visit which used to take 2 visits before. They also took a CT scan when I had an unusual problem with my jaw which helped me understand my treatment options. All of this makes me feel well taken care of plus the caring team around her makes my dental visits such a pleasant experience. If you are not enjoying your dental visits, you need to see Dr Sebastian!

During the visit, Dr. S had a disrespectful and unprofessional behavior that harms people's health. She did not explain the pros and cons of alternative procedures. I felt like I was in a butcher shop and was just a set of teeth instead of a patient. What made matters worse was the billing side of the practice charged an arbitrary amount of money before verifying with my insurance. I don't recommend going to this practice

Dr Sebastian and her staff are very personable. They understood my concerns about the procedure, cost, and time involved. The Office Manager, Lynn, was very thorough with explaining to me my alternatives.

Can't recommend. On or about 2/22/22, I had a disturbing, abominable phone call with Lynn,Office Manager.Siobhan M's Yelp review dated 11/9/15, also complains about the Office Manager. So 2 complaints now. Evidence of a pattern? Are there other complaints we don't know of? I advised Lynn I was seeking preventative care only, not cosmetic,I currently have a dentist but want a new one & may want to transition over to Dr.Sebastian(Dr. S); & I'm seeking a consultation appt. Early on, it seemed Lynn's plan was to discourage me in pursuing an appt & encourage me to end the call.Lynn reacted strongly to the word "transition" saying close to these words - If you're not sure you want to make Dr. S your dentist, we can't see you.We see people who know they want her as their dentist and are ready to adopt her completely as their dentist. We are scheduling appts over a year in advance.I then asked for clarification, that I now,at the very time of this phone call, must commit to making Dr. S my long term dentist?I'm required to make that decision right now on the phone before seeing her?Lynn didn't answer but seemed to continue to discourage me by then saying the office is never open for the full 5 days/week.(I asked myself why would this need to be said, if I won't be seen for a year anyway?)I said ok & asked what the 1st visit entailed. Lynn said a cleaning, exam,& full mouth x rays and I'm required right now on this phone call to consent to pay out of pocket for a CT scan ($400) & for a teeth model ($125),which Dr. S will likely want to get done. I was told insurance doesn't pay for either.Lynn then said she was busy now but would call back later but added maybe I could be seen sooner than in 1 year.Isn't that odd?I'm told early in the phone call that appts are scheduled a year in advance but now later in the same phone call I'm mysteriously told with no reason given, that it may be possible I could be seen sooner?Lynn asked for my date of birth, which I found peculiar cuz this request was made without my completed application, no reason given, & I may not be seen for a year. She called back, waived the cleaning(I had one 2 days ago) & an appt was set for the very next week.I asked for the scan & model to be waived, stating my teeth are fine,I get cleanings 6x/year,I'm educated about my teeth and care & don't need further training, education. (CT scans also carry risks). Lynn said that if Dr. S wants them done,I must comply, and I have no role or say in this decision. I asked if Dr. S requires them & I decide not needed, why can't I withhold my consent & end the appt? Lynn's exact response: "You are now dictating what you will do.We will not see you and the appointment is canceled".Is "shenanigans" a reasonable word to describe what I endured? It seems that $525 per consult plus insurance results in a handsome profit per patient & maybe more out of pocket patient expenses after the scan & model are assessed cuz Dr. S, not you, dictates your care. Their expensive machines can help with preventative care which is why I contacted them.It was not because of the Best Dentist awards which aren't bestowed by patients' opinions, but uses unknown, unverifiable criteria. Is the $525.00 per patient helping to pay off the machine loans or cover their upkeep which I don't want to pay for, do you?"Patient Centered Care" can be defined as "Providing care that is respectful of and responsive to individual patient preferences, needs, and values and ensuring that patient values guide all clinical decisions. It seems Dr. S may use the " traditional medical model" of health care, whereby her patients must comply with Dr. S without any say in their care. You like that?Or the required scan & model may be due to a disturbing trend in health care termed "defensive medicine" which refers to medical pros requiring unnecessary tests, lab work, primarily out of fear of patients suing them & not for reasonable,diagnostic/treatment purposes.

I went to a dental clinic close to my house because my teeth was very painful, but they didn't do anything for my teeth--They only gave me mouthwash because they said I have invisilign. So I decided to head to Smile Innovations Hawaii and was seen by Dr. Cecile Sebastian. She is so amazing because she cured my painful teeth. She did a very good job--She's the most excellent dentist I've ever met.

Dr Sebastian is simply amazing!! The best dental office on Oahu hands down! Best I have ever been to infact. From initial consultations to Implants, my teeth are in good hands. Here is what happened just today as I got my first dental implant ever put in. Of course, before today everyone was scaring me about the pain and procedure. The minute I walked into the office they asked if I had music to listen to. I actually didn't bring headphones, so Dr. Sebastian let me use her phone and played a whole musical for me. It was amazing. People barely even offer their personal phone if you need to make a call. After this kind gesture, Dr. Sebastian was super gently the entire time. She explained the entire procedure in detail then continued to check in on my comfort during it. Literally told me, you are going to feel pressure like this, then would push on my shoulder to demonstrate before doing it. I FELT NO PAIN AT ALL THE ENTIRE PROCEDURE. I literally told her it was a pleasure to be in her office. So comforting! All female staff. All super amazing!!
